SiC Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 I like Bristol too, it's probably the only city other than Brighton that I'd consider living in (I generally prefer smaller places). Sent from my Moto G (4) using TapatalkI grew up for most of my life in villages and Bristol is the first city (even town) that I've lived in. Moved here when I went to university in 2005 and not been away for more than a year. I definitely want to go back to one in the future, but for now it is very useful having all the mod cons of a city on your doorstep and work only 15 minute cycle ride or 25 minute drive away. However Bristol has plenty of green spaces and parks too. As we're on the outskirts, the countryside starts merging in. Time out (however brief) to clear the head is always a good thing. A photo of the MGB outside Frenchay Garage is required I think. Calendar material for 2019.Yeah I keep meaning to pop over and take a few pictures. There is a really nice church too nearby. Made this my background. I'm not a person to customise my phone much (infact I never do), but I really this picture! I think it's the rust, missing letter and wonky R. Almost looks like it was especially staged for it. Even down to the handle being in the middle bottom. Datsuncog, SierraMikeHotel, dome and 4 others 7

wuvvum Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I was trying to explain Autoshite to a friend earlier while we drove along. A bright yellow Nissan Stanza came the other way at just the right point in the conversation to point and say 'like that'.Was it my old one? Can't be that many bright yellow Stanzas around.
Joey spud Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 A colleague went out to chap complaining of smoke and a burning smell under the bonnet of his recently serviced car.The old fuel filter had been dropped down the back of the engine where it became wedged on the exhaust.. whoopsy whoops. strangeangel, fordperv and dome 3

Datsuncog Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Not sure whether it's a grin or a grump, but I appear to have emerged victorious from a last-second sniper attack for a pile of Jalopy magazines from 1992/93, so I guess it's a grin. The only serious casualty appears to be my PayPal balance - a jump of £16.10 in the last three seconds. But I really wanted them. Especially Issue #2 complete with sticker. Still, nine issues for £30-odd posted isn't exactly unreasonable. This very nearly completes my run of Britain's Smallest, Dullest Motoring Mag, with only #12 (Allegro 20th birthday) and #13 (Escort profile) still missing. Some of this haul will be used to fill in the missing Joypal issues on the ShiteScan thread's PDFs (if Mr Somewhatfoolish remains amenable to the task of scanning and uploading them). http://autoshite.com/topic/30704-shitescan-preservation-of-fading-old-newsprint-is-our-concern/ Duplicate issues will be offered out to interested parties at a later date! eddyramrod Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 The blue van at work now has a driver's sunvisor again! Whoopee! After trawling around town looking for vans going to scrap, one of my contacts suggested I might be able to bodge the visor arm, so this morning after my rounds I gathered all the bits together for an assessment. I managed to slip the complete arm for the passenger's visor off its mounting and out of the visor, and reassemble it as part of the driver's visor. So now we have one visor, that won't stay up properly, and one in bits under the seat. At least Kevin and Pete, who mostly drive the blue van, will be able to see where they're going now! loserone 1

spike60 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 How do you even do that to an engine?Usually a lack of oil and a total lack of mechanical sympathy. In my time at the Dock I've driven back to the workshop a Ford flatbed wagon with the block cracked fully in half and a fork truck with a snapped conrod in it's Perkins 6 pot engine. Dockers are not gentle. Both were so fucked there was little more damage I could do although vibration was a bit of an issue with the Perkins!
PhilA Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I like Bristol. It's lost a bit of it's 70's charm* since they redeveloped the commercial center. It's also one of few big cities that you can be driving along in the countryside and all of a sudden you're in the city in the space of a hundred yards or so (A370 down in through Ashton). Phil
