The cover has blown off the AMC so it is slowly filling with rainwater. Not much point putting it back now just trap the damp inside. What's worse is it is 100% my fault for not bothering to fasten it down properly.

OMG - that is awesome and I must have one ... That is now on the want list just below Dangel.

You like bolt-on load-extender tailgates on hatches?

The ultimate to date has to be this one I posted: http://autoshite.com/topic/7706-one-shite-picture-per-post/page-377?do=findComment&comment=879811

However, I'm quite partial to the EBS R25 'gate http://autoshite.com/topic/749-renault-25-convertible-and-estate/

The £15 oil change is back! This cheap oil, £9.99 at Home Bargains, is certified for lots of modern shit. The filter by renowned filtration experts 'Mehr' was a fiver including postage. I would've preferred a Mann filter but ECP wanted £8 to deliver it.

Not before time, the old oil filter is disgusting. It's interesting to see the filter media, I haven't owned many cars with a cartridge oil filter. Not bothered enough to cut open a metal oil filter and check like trillions of Americans on YouTube.

Changed the insurance over from the Jag to the Autoshite Rover today and was pleased to learn that this resulted in a refund of my premium of £20.21. Get in.

Sadly, Footman James then informed me that they were charging me £25 for doing the amendment so I am now £4.79 down on the deal which pretty much sums up my life.

£25 admin fee is part of the reason why I switched from FJ to PJ ... PJ admin fee was £15, not sure if it still is, but £10 per change to policy adds up when you make a few changes a year.

I bought a private plate from the DVLA auction yesterday and had an email today offering this.

Congratulations on your recent purchase in our DVLA Timed Auction. We are sure the registration will bring you many years of enjoyment.

Gift Box

Here’s an idea. If you have bought the registration as a gift, one of our official DVLA Auction presentation boxes would make the gift even more unique. It brings the gift to life and gives you something to wrap up before the special day. It’s also a great keepsake afterwards.

Choose from either a standard cardboard box for £59.99 (including VAT and Postage and Packing) or indulge yourself in a luxurious wooden box for £129.00 (including VAT and Postage and Packing). Each box comes complete with a single display number plate with your chosen registration number.

Both boxes are very impressive and make the act of giving even more pleasurable.

Fucking hell 60 quid for a cardboard box or 130 for a wooden one what sort of idiot would pay that. At least my plate was cheap, less than the wooden box anyway before their fee's kicked in.

Had a good day today.

I mentioned late last year that I had bought another house to refurbish. The idea was then to rent it out. It's a Victorian terrace and in a nice area.

Circumstances changed at Christmas time and I ended up leaving the family home and moving into my building site, sleeping amongst the refurbishment.

The major change is the fact that, being a terrace there is sod all in the way of parking. This has meant cars have remained either at my dads (fine), or at the family home (not fine as its 4 miles away so not quickly accessible). I've had the Vectra at 'home' and that's it.

It got to the point I had to either drastically reduce the fleet, or find an alternative.

I got talking to a neighbour the other day and tested the situation around how well it would go down if I parked a few cars on the street. My neighbour gave me a tip off which I looked into.

Turns out, just around the corner from me there is a double garage + 2 parking spaces to rent. The first months rent exchanged hands today, so I took the opportunity to move the first car up here -

The Rover is working and it only cost me £20.  It idles better when cold and changes gear better too, not sure why the gear change has improved but I don't mind one bit.  Full update in the thread shortly.

Miserable week.

Hugely busy work, 60 hour+ week, colleagues off sick.

Top it all off either the Octavia's coolant temp sensor is on the fritz or the thermostats stuck open. Been driving around anywhere between 60-90 degrees.

At least all these collection threads are keeping me cheerful.

In my infinite VAG wisdom I ordered the wrong colour temp sensor, so if yours is the green four terminal one, I have a new one you can have, let me know fella.

Almost had a FTP today, Rover decided to to almost cut out as I came to stop. I tried to accelerate but Rover was having none of it, it shook slightly wouldn't rev or run properly, I switched it off and on again and all was well.

Washed the bloody thing at thenyard where I store my cars, but washing cars isn't a strong point when you don't have the proper equipment, as I got back home there were loads of dirt streaks and bits I'd missed out. Bah :(

Car Wash it is tomorrow then.

Turns out my Laguna is a Cat C.

LOL.

Does that mean that somebody tried to change a lightbulb on the insurance?

Distributor pump TDI. I'm glad I don't run a PD, a whiff of crap oil and the camshaft is toast.

Obtained a matching alloy wheel for the focus to replace the shitty space saver - difficult to get hold of an individual one - most want to flog you four.

Got a puncture on holiday two years ago, had to buy a tyre because the vectra only had a spacesaver and I come home on the M5 /M6 motorways.

Not going to be in that situation again.

My nan rang me the other day to tell me her car wouldn't start. TBH she's wank at driving so she only ever uses it to go 1 mile to Asda or 0.75 mile to my mums, once every fortnight or so. About 2 years ago the AA condemned the battery so she's done alright out of it really, but I went down last week with a new battery for her.

Didn't want to bang the new battery on (and scruffy it up so I couldn't return it) so I thought I'd try out my fancy Lithium jump pack I got myself for Xmas and make sure it wasn't owt serious.

Dead good! It's started this car and on the battery tester at work it scores better in a 10 second drop test than £300 worth of MEGA SUPER SPORT POWER DOUBLE DECKER BUS BOOSTER battery.

I put her a £50 battery on it and she was trying to stuff money in my hand for it, but obviously you don't take money off your nan. Anyway after that she said "so do you think it'll pass the MOT then?" which is due in about a week.

Walked round it and noticed a nail in the fuckin sidewall of one tyre so swapped that for the spare, but the exhaust backbox is doing nothing at all, and if I was to go underneath it I would probably find it's very rusty.

In about a weeks time I reckon our lass will have a nice new battery on her Fiat and I'll be programming A1 taxis into my nans mobile.

I got the renewal for Herman (My BMW 728), £65/mo for full comp, I'm 25, in the bottom of Cornwall, with 7 years NCB and a no-fault accident on the books from last year. I'll also be getting 3rd party extension this year.

Last year however, I was paying £60/mo.

What do you reckon?

Seems like a lot of money to me, I won't bother regaling you with tales of insuring group 20 (the highest) cars back in the day for a half eaten Texan bars and a jar of jam with a gollywog on it.

I'm just going to mention M 8ONE in case you've forgotten about the dregs of high society.

Rattle valve pov spec Mk3 Fez? Needs Save!

Wow! Nice Mk3 Fiesta. Ma_Sterling had a G-reg one for yonks until it was finally stolen and crashed in the late 90s.

Hopefully it'll pass it's MOT and give your Nan some more years of driving.

Please get rid of those nasty cheapo wheeltrims for Ford items.

Work has gone crazy, Beetle has leaking power steering pump, HMRC aren't my friends (my fault for being distracted).

Sheesh. Maybe we can make it to the end of the month, get my CX, and chill out for once!
