Got £600 worth of repair/service work to do to the Civic. FML...

I really need to do something with the 1300 too, I want to take the engine out but the rebuild is going to be the best part of £500 in parts at least. Gah, money and time. My worst enemies.

How has a new car like that civic needing so much spending on it?

Car is back, spent all day faffing with it and cannot find a power steering leak anywhere - all bone dry! Current theory is: air lock in the oil cooler. So I have to run it and keep on checking.

Pah!

Ones Bentley should NEVER be seen in public with the bonnet open! :)

Today I have learned that getting a Transit van sideways on an icy road is an effective way to make following drivers keep their distance. Quite a good cure for constipation too.

Yes I'm thankful for the quick steering and responses of the puma, I very nearly put it in a wall this morning, it was a bit slippy.

I smelt fuel by mrs fp's car, investigated all around then saw that the fuel pump fitting was moist, though oh must just need nipping up, can anyone guess what happened? I gave it a nip and it gushed fuel out like niagara falls, i changed the copper washers but it still did it, took the banjo off and checked it out, yep rotted through

After emailing the Jaguar Heritage Trust the other day, they've confirmed that the Daimler was built in October 1975 despite being registered in March 1976.  So as of this April it'll be tax exempt.  Just been reading up about it all, and apparently I'll need a certificate from Gaydon proving historic status which'll cost 41 quid, seems a bit steep but worth it obviously.  Not having to fanny about with direct debits and SORNs will be a good thing, as it'll give me the freedom to use it more on those odd days in the winter when the weather is nice.

I've also posted off a V888 form to DVLA today to find out its history.  12 previous owners so should be interesting to see what I get.

The first one or two owners will be pillars of the community possibly even titled, from 1980 onwards;post-17414-0-16356500-1452698559_thumb.jpg

Considering it was untaxed from 1992 until last year, the first 16 years saw lots of keeper changes. I just hope a certain J.Savile wasn't one of them...

Just been sent this picture, it's my new toy being picked up just south of Eindhoven. Should be here at some point tomorrow, can't wait!

I bid on a Mini Cooper-S with 179,000 miles on it. I got out bid right at the last minute at £1600. It went for £1650.

This is up at a local shite auction tomorrow. Hasn't been mot'd since 2014, more knocks than the postman. WCPG?

It's a six speed manual too, I honestly had no idea you could get these in anything but an auto.

The interiors looks super-plastic-fantastic

I'm in at sub 1500 quid.

Re: Land Rover clanky/jingly sound

Dying prop ujs make some bloody strange noises

A virtual pint to twosmoke300, it was the a prop uj, fortunately now replaced before it went completely ping. Unfortunately fixing that has drawn attention to a weepy hub and perished shock absorber rubber.

The Smart is still dead, wrong bit delivered and sent back. I'm getting tempted to ask the dealer if I can trade it in for something else.

Spent the last day of my 20s taking the 404 to France to have a full engine rebuild, injection system rebuild, new clutch and electrics all sorted... a very stressful drive down (first part on the motorway, in the dark and pissing rain) following my co-owner in his Xantia. Cold and miserable and a ridiculously long day. It'll be worth it though

My bag for life fix on civic has worked!

Carpet is lovely and dry in civic.

Need to put some rice in there to get rid of the misting up, but quite proud of my bodge and got missus moog points!

Ooooh that looks nice. What part of France?

Normandy. Only 75 miles from the ferry at Can but that was enough tbh

Fuck me, what profile's that?? - You did well to notice.

I've used tyre weld on slow punctures before with good effect. It's not good on major leaks, but probably worth a fiver on a can if you can't get it fixed properly.
