Going through my box of Cresta bits to try and assemble a decent front grille assembly...

Had one of Mrs JJ’s friends ask if I’d look at her 4motion Tiguan as she’s got a few issues with it.

TPMS light won’t go out after pumping tyres up

TC light comes on when driving

Shakes violently when braking after driving for a while

First issue was TPMS, she assumed the light would go out when the tyres had air put in them. Checked the pressures, OSF had 49 PSI 😂 NSR had 31. Set them to the correct 35 PSI all round and reset light. Fixed.

TC light, plugged it in and got codes for NSR wheel speed sensor, replacement sensor ordered, really easy to change - don’t even need to take the wheel off. Whipped the old one out to get the part number as there is more than one listed.

Shaking - jacked the car up, NSF wheel - I’ll let the video speak for itself, I was putting a lot of effort into moving that. I’ll check the sliders and clean them up at the weekend but will probably just stick a caliper on as it’s got its MOT next month and it’s just easier.

The disc will be warped and fucked too , if that's been driven any distance

At the very least the pads are likely heavily worn.

I was very surprised that when I drove it from cold, it doesn’t shake at all so the disk may have somehow survived but I agree, I’d be shocked if I don’t end up having to stick pads in for her.

It comes down to how you really feel about the car. Yes, the shock has left a bitter taste, but then it could be seen as a running resto. That's how I'm treating both my Jag and Vectra. They are running working cars, but they are also both rusty, particularly the Vectra. But I'm working through the lists to get them mechanically as best as I can/I can afford. I love them both and would hope they'd both be with me for a long while yet.

What a beautiful day today! I set my 18 year old the task of taking the drivers side sill covers off the new to me XF. Crikey, it's not much better than the S type I took off the road last month.

So, severe corrosion to sills, suspension's shot (front control arms wobbly), exhaust leak from near turbo (whistling), rusty rear subframe and needs subframe bushes, all alloys welded, problem with boot loom, 155k with no recent service history. That offer of £900 from WBAC not looking too bad, if they a) agree to take it and b) don't knock it down, but I'm not exactly in a good negotiating position. You've got to laugh otherwise you'd cry. How to lose £1k in a week.
