'03, so hardly surprising to be fair

Is the old problem of Japanese cars rotting maybe still a thing then? I’ve heard Mazdas being prone too.

We naughtily p/exed an 05 Corolla about 4 years ago for an oil burning issue (1.6vvti) that had advisories for underside corrosion and bought a late 2004 mk2 Octavia. The Corolla was scrapped less than a year later, not for engine issues, but for corrosion.

The Octavia didn’t have a single blister or sign of corrosion when moved on last year.

Yes, very little underbody protection on the rear. No wheel arch liners from factory as with a lot of Jap cars. The inner arches were caked in mud build up along the lip. Just shoddy design really

I know it's 19 years old so of course it's going to go rusty but it would have helped to at least give it some sort of protection from factory!

Yes, I suppose at 19 years old it’s long passed it’s sell by date but fair play Skoda I say!

I know I’m into old Fords and Vauxhalls but even the Senator has faired pretty well compared to that and our old Toyota 😕

Just got a new mobile number assigned to me (only going to use it temporarily until it ports over my old one)

But I keep receiving messages from Lloyds Bank saying to complete my application by visiting a local branch...

I expect this is caused by someone else's old number being reassigned to me, and I can imagine the confusion and frustration that someone is going through right now as to why they aren't receiving the texts they are presumably expecting. I don't think it's any sort of scam as there are no links and no requests for personal information.

Sod all I can do though to alert the relevant people of their error! I don't think?

And Subarus. And Suzukis.

Ask me how I know.

I saw the aftermath of a one in a trillion chance.

A mk1 Fabia estate in silver, got t-boned by a mk2 Fabia estate in almost silver. 🤔

In case what?

In case it is a scam attempt, though I agree it doesn't sound very likely.

Next door’s mum is poorly, and it’s international news. Doesn’t sound good though, they’re all racing up there.

Indeed.  I can take or leave the monarchy as an institution (although I swing very much towards "take" when the alternative is President Johnson or President Truss), but it's going to be a wrench when Brenda goes.  She's the only head of state that 90% of us have ever known.

I liked the Queen.  I dislike the Monarchy but I liked the Queen.  I think this view is shared by many.

Liz truss 1994 - "abolish the monarchy"

Liz truss 6th Sept 2022 - becomes PM

8th Sept 2022 - Queen passes away

:(

Thats probably her career over, and haunted for the rest of time...

@GrumpiusMaximus I feel the same. I have enormous respect for the woman, she's got on with a job she didn't ask for, was given because her dad died and has just got on with it her entire adult life without complaining or ever really putting a foot wrong.

May she rest in peace

I'm no royalist, but she was indeed Majestic.

Rest in peace, Ma'am.

With all the above similar caveats

The nation has just lost its mum. Of course it hurts.

According to some rumours, various military personnel were asked to return to their units just before 1430 today.  Read into that what you will.

I was always mildly irritated by pronouncements 'she will be back at her desk'...

Rather like 'Concorde will be returning to gate 11'.... However, that didn't last either!

*There's one near Edinburgh 👍

Doctors probably gave their prognosis that it wouldn't be long at all. Not necessarily dead but anyone who has had family seriously/critically ill, you can tell it's not going to be long.

It's fucking embarrassing as a country to have a person in such a public and important position to be so incompetent in so many ways.
