Split_Pin
Sooo, it turns out I *am* 41 and not 12 as I thought I was this afternoon. Set off to collect my son from school, I usually walk. He wanted me to bring his scooter. We got him a new one for his birthday and its one of those bloody fast, silent ones. I planned to see if I could get to the school in as few pushes as possible. I came to the road, all clear so I successfully bunny-hopped the first kerb. However I misjudged the kerb at the other side of the road and jumped too soon so the front wheel clipped the kerb and I went arse for tit right over the handlebars. I put my hand down to break the fall but my knee landed with most of my body weight on it right onto a chuckie-stone. It made what looked like a 1 1/2 inch cut on my knee but on closer inspection it was a messy gash that went right down to my kneecap. It looks like nothing in the picture. Hoping nobody saw me, I just jumped up and carried on, thankful that the new scooter was undamaged. Got back home, son went out, taped up my knee, checked e-mails and then tinkered with the cars. My wife is a pharmacy technician and she took one look at it and declared stitches were a must. No way was I going into hospital due to Covid so she administered paper stitches. Now I've had WAY worse than this and been fine but for some reason I went into shock at this point, shivering and wanting to pass out. WTF. I'm not even squeamish! loserone, gm, Dannyk and 9 others 5

I’m the same when other people “play” with my self inflicted wounds. Steri-tags I can do, but my brother in law stitched my finger a few years ago when I’d smashed a wine glass washing up. That made me feel sick.

LHD, Portuguese plates, rust free but massive lacquer peel. They've recently moved it into their yard at the back where they keep cars for spares, so I guess something expensive has packed up over here, and the owners have abandoned it and flown home after receiving a quote for the repairs. Do the plates have the yellow part? You can see the year in that part. If they don't, a 1998 should be a late J plate or an early L plate. That's a laughing face for the getting up from the scooter misjudgement and walking on like a pro. It reminds me of when I was returning a Tesco trolley a while back. I took a run up, hopped on the back and 'rode' it through the car park. At least that was until the bastard thing flipped backwards and dumped me on the ground in style. Like yourself, I got up and pretended it had never happened. I felt it in the knees later on though, although not half as bad as your war wound. PhilA
Finished this clock for the guy with a car like mine. Spares clock, he doesn't know about, I'm waiting on some colored perspex that matches the colors of his car, and am going to make a freebie desk clock for him with it. All those old prewar saloons disappeared quite quickly when the MOT test was introduced, many were not even tested. 1964? I think parking restrictions, yellow lines etc. had started by 1967 ( can't actually remember it clearly) and there would likely have been more traffic by then, so I would say the photo is early 60s. egg
Stanky
The post has just arrived, including a parcel for me, which required a signature. I don't recall ordering anything but might have been my wife buying whatever it is. Anyway, duly squiggled with my finger on the screen and took it inside to see what excitement awaited. Ummm, yeah... its what appears to be an ignition barrel with key for a 2003 Citroen Picasso? I've never owned a Picasso, I don't think I have ever owned a Citroen if I'm honest? I went to check ebay in case I'd gone fully deranged and ordered it, but nope - nothing there. I don't think we even know anyone with a picasso who might have ordered it to me and forgot to tell me I am supposed to be fitting it for them? According to the tracking it originated at Skellingthorpe Post Office LN6 5UL. No invoice, just a box with bubble wrapped ignition gubbinz? The box it came in has been recycled and the sender might have been a Mr Ronald Clayton of North Hykeham? I definitely don't know anyone by that name. WTF? I was 7 in 1967 and for the next couple of years I had my hair cut by a Great War veteran with a military moustache. He used to have his service medals hanging up next to the mirror.2/- for a boy's cut. I suppose he retired then, as he must have been over 70. Popular Post Split_Pin
After the trouble I had with getting garages around my area to weld the Cavalier I decided something needed to be done. I took delivery of my Clarke Pro90 MIG welder a few weeks ago and subsequently took a trip up to @Tickman where he taught me to weld. He's an excellent tutor and he threw all kinds of difficult welding scenarios at me that you might find in reality when welding an old snotter. After a couple of hours I had 'graduated' and I actually find welding really satisfying. I guess lying on my back dodging melted underseal might be less optimal but I am now confident I can tackle a rotten area now. Action shot: Much appreciated! dean36014, catsinthewelder, Cord Fourteener and 48 others

dean36014
Started stripping the knackered paint off the van roof. I need to find something taller to stand on. Got a quarter done and then decided to sand down the filler I stuck in over the welded parts on the nearside of the van body. Then gave that side a thick coat of epoxy primer. Not used a spray gun in years, going to be interesting when it's time for top coat! Also cleaned and sanded the front number and painted it using Halfords plastic primer and top coat. Looks much better. Burnside, Sunny Jim, puddlethumper and 19 others

Burnside
The Stilo SW is proving itself again to be a handy motor. As moving a Fiat Uno Bonnet & Bumper for my Brother was no bother! I had been wondering with the tax + insurance due next month, plus with the lack of work. If I should sell it and buy something smaller / cheaper till things improve. But I think it's too useful a tool to part with, even if it's slightly more costly to run. Split_Pin
