A couple of weeks ago I showed you my new* hose reel holder. 

I say new, I dragged it out of the garage from where it had sat since we moved in. Well I decided to spruce it up a bit to match our nice new windows in the porch to which it is attached. 

Rubbed it all down and polished it up. The inner bit is black aerosol, no need to mask, just point from the centre outwards. The inserts I didn't fancy masking up for obvious reasons and I didn't have any brush paintable black but I found this tin of maroon Hammerite, actually a mix of burgundy and dark blue to match my Triumph, I've used it under the arches. 

Looks OK doesn't it? 

I would have spent longer both polishing and painting if it was actually going on a car but it's good enough for a wall.

Had a run out this weekend. Leeds to Manchester, then up to the Isle of Harris in the Hebrides. For legitimate reasons I will add.

 Drove up through Glen Coe, via Ben Nevis and over to the Islands,  empty roads - and I mean empty. 

The C180 performed impeccably,  only used a tank of fuel to get there,  and got out without any aches or pains. 

 

I must say, I'm rather impressed with it!

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who say they can weld - but cannot.

I'm getting pissed off at the (new) driver's side strut on my C70. I noticed months ago the top mount rubber could be turned by hand easily, and I was getting a strange popping noise occasionally.  I nipped up the top nut and all was right for a while, until I noticed the noise again recently and the rubber is loose again. Wtf?

I'd whip the bolt out if you can and check that the thread hasn't been partially stripped - i had to do the strut brace on mine, it only took about half a turn to make the clonking noises go away.

Having a much needed break in Somerset and found this beach which is two miles long which you can drive on it, sorry for the non Autoshite type content with the Audi but it's all I have on the road and currently working,

You can but many forget how quick the tide in the channel comes in. Get stuck in the sand/mud at the wrong time and your car will be a write off pretty quickly!

only they were not supposed  to be on the beach, there been supposedly no vehicle access to the beach.

not that it bothered the idiot outta towners, who it seems where entitled to park just wherever they like.

I've been up on Brean Down and up to the fort, but I haven't ever tried driving on the beach...

So, after 11 years I said goodbye to the Corsa tonight. It was the car that meant my wife could move in with me and commute, it was the car that kept going through years where we were very very hard up indeed, it was the car that I did my first engine change on, it was the car that ferried my son and I around on days out when my wife was working, it was the car I took to many shows, it was the car where I learned about rust and that if you like a car enough, its never really over for it.

I also learned that I'm not at all sentimental about cars. I literally cried when I had to scrap my old Vectra but after selling my Astra of 13 years in 2018, I realised that the memories aren't attached to the car, they're attached to the people that you shared the times with. I've still got them and I've realised thats all that really matters to me.

Also, I couldn't say no to the Cavalier, it needed a home and looked a bit forlorn and it basically followed me back to the house. I knew it had potential. Now that it is welded MOTd and running well, its time for the next chapter. Like the Corsa, this will be a pure hobby car, garaged in the winter and for going to shows. Its just that now its a great deal more practical. Its first assignment will be to IKEA to collect my work from home desk and chair and it will be great to have a car with a proper boot again.

Its also a relief to be back at 4 cars again. The driveway was cluttered and I feel I can breathe a bit easier.

Onwards and upwards.

I've noticed a few houses with drives worth of this here Parish bit there's one in particular. 

From memory they've had in the last few years: Saab 9-3OG, Rover 75, Granada scorpio estate, Series something probably 3 Landy, currently on Laguna estate and '94/5 Mini and I recently spotted a Mk3 facelift Escort estate there.

Heart warming stuff.  Hope it serves you well m8.  They are cavernous (no pun intended) with the seats folded down.  I managed to fit a fully assembled desk in my old one.  Albeit with about 2mm between the rear screen and the corner of the desk...

First time I have ever visited Brean beach, we arrived at the beach gates paid for the parking (£5 all day) and decided to go right on the beach to be near the fort and facilities ( toilets and café) was a really nice day all round

I don't have many 'normal' friends, but some think I'm weird just for my two.
