Same carb as our mower.  Freebie roadside find.

Perished priming bulb was the only thing wrong with it - thatand that they'd stored it on end so the entire contents of the sump had ended up in the cylinder.  Really do need to pick up the grass collection box for it though!

Yup, this was a freebie because it didn't run. They're really bad at clogging up with dirt.

Speaking purely from my personal observation, I think* that the first DD payment of 2 months only applies if you tax within the last week or ten days of the month. Any earlier and it’s just 1 months worth.

Nice one, will remember that. Thank you.

Looks very much like an MEV Aston DBR1 replica.

That does look like it, I think you have got it, well done.

I have repaired the 'major' damage to my rear wheel, done in two stages, yesterday and today. Yes, I have touched up the scuff mark on my wheel. The world can now go back to normal :)

I believe that was a real Aston DB3S.

Not used the 944 for a bit so decided to take it for a spin.

Bugger. Must've been a bit longer than I thought.

Wouldn't jump from the charger boost start either. Think the chargers a bit bolloxsed, so I'm going to have to charge the battery instead as I can't find my jump leads either, I've probably put them somewhere sensible when I tidied the garage the other week.

I can't make it play, but I am rubbish with technology most of the time.

Mobile chap came and done me a new key for my celica. £80.00 , a lot better than the £220.00 estimate of the dealer. Need to sort the idle control valve out though. Wont tick over on a cold start. Fine when its warm but hopeless when cold.

I got the old Merc out of hibernation today and and gave it a steady local run round.  In a week or two I'm going to bring it to the house and do some much needed work on it, a timing chain, sump clean out, gearbox oil, filter and see where the gearbox leak it has developed is from.  I'm also going to have a looky see at the  brakes and get rid of the horrible 1999 Nankank M+S's it's wearing. It's always had a slight tick on one cylinder head, during it's lay off it developed one one the other side too, I'm hoping it settles down with fresh oil and use, I may try slightly thinner oil for a short while as a flush. Hers's a slightly grubby old Merc squinting at the spring sunshine today.

I thought you had sold this, obviously not. I sold my black 1989 944 about 9 months ago to a hardcore masochist, -he;d just sold a 928!

Continued giving the Golf a coat of looking at this afternoon. Drove it out of the garage, left it idling for 10 min and listened in horror as it dropped from running on six to five pots.

No fault codes, so as I'd bought plugs recently for it decided to chuck 'em in. First five plugs were fine, sixth was wet. Changed the plugs, fired it up, still on five.

Luckily E.C.P. have a sale on (as always) so nipped down there, picked up a coil pack and it's back to running sweetly again.

Somewhat irritating when a car manages to get through £87 without actually leaving the driveway..

No, I had a buyer but then he started sending me messages asking if it had a jack (it did) which set off alarm bells so I said no to see what he did and he tried knocking an extra £100 off, so I told him to bugger off. What was going to happen on the day, he'd probably turn up with £200 less than the asking price as 'he couldn't get all the money from the cashpoint' that day or offer me a broken XBox or something.

I had a Mk3 Mondeo and just replaced the whole regulator, as it was only a few quid more than getting the wire on its own. All I had to swap over was the motor.

I gave my daughter her first drive ever , in the Golf... She did ok ! Private estate , i suspect the same place as Fumbler has been driving ..? I showed her how to do handbrake turns, J turns , left foot braking etc?

BMW is back! Got a new crank sensor after the old one apparently had to be ripped out. Now apparently the lambda is buggered and the intake hosing is ripped open, and a breather hose broken!

It starts and runs at least, even if it's mis-firing.

I remember playing around doing a lot of that back on the farm.  Main thing I remember was that they make J turns look *way* easier in the movies!  Pulling that off and making it look smooth is bloody hard.

...Even more so when the car you're using decided after the third or fourth attempt to try to engage first gear and reverse at the same time.

Many years ago I was parked outside a friend's garage when some local scrotes started throwing bits of wood, rocks and stuff at my Range Rover. I jumped in the Rangie in order to grab the little bastards and the quickest way to turn the Rangie around was to do a J-turn, so that's what I did. Chased the little shits off the estate and then returned to the unit to look at the damage to my car.

When I returned one of the lads comes out of the garage and says "How the fook did you do that? It's meant to be pretty much impossible to J-turn a Rangie!"

Finished work on this today 20200320_124536.thumb.jpg.2d3d84c6ee7ded68f28af2d183e1a0bb.jpg20200320_124554.thumb.jpg.04d1c43b20de38ff6788f9b50d3de71a.jpg20200320_124627.thumb.jpg.2a3a56fe97d19d5c3bd678eaba872b72.jpg

It was a nice car to work on, on the way home I popped in to the local open all hours convenience store, Boss man (Sunni) had got us some cooking oil and pasta that we can not get in our nearest supermarket,  I walked around his well stocked shop collecting my favourite tipple. I saw toilet roll and truly the best I have ever seen,  20200320_190934.thumb.jpg.a1556385ba86f6a5c6af270b7df7c515.jpg

You can tell it's old, it's not blue and red like mine! I don't even remember the night dash colour of my old '88 polo.

My lovely little C2, fun to drive, I do like little cars.

I wouldn't mind trying another C2 at some point - the one I had was ruined as a driver's car by that feck-awful Sensodrive gearbox.
