Morris were so forward thinking, they envisaged the use of smartphones in the 21st century and built hands-free holders into the cars!

bramz's latest purchase was a local car to me, so it'd be rude not to tag along.

The seller said the expansion tank was bubbling up, so fingers crossed he makes it home OK. It's a tidy car otherwise, and giffer owned from new.

That was a really boring drive back. In a good way of course. It literally felt as if I blew out all the cobwebs on the way back as it was stodgy on the motorway to begin with, then loosened up really well. Thermostat is pretty cack though, it ran worryingly cold at speeds above 50.

Other than that and a terrible exhaust rattle it all seems rather happy.

800 immobilisers are absolute trash mind you.

I don't really know what sort of cars are about in Finland.

Well there used to be a Datsun Cedric estate, but there isn't any more.

Someone popped up in my thread over on the blue recently because they'd spotted a Princess in Finland.  No really.  I can't figure out what the wheels are that it's wearing and it's bugging me.  Anyone know?  They're not Volvo 240.  On the assumption there's no adaptors, they'll be 4x114.3 and since they don't look too massive, they'll likely either be 14" as per Princess, or perhaps a 15".  I'm guessing they're off something Japanese.  I don't really know what sort of cars are about in Finland.

I think they could be off the first FWD Galant.

My brain works incredibly slowly so it has taken me a few days to make what should be a very simple decision. I concluded that the only reason I wanted to sell my 172 is because I was afraid it would break again. Unless I replace it with something boring and new, then the next car will be no different in that respect.

Another shiter put it much better "It will break again, it's when it stops being fun when it's working, then you know it's time to sell". A decent bit of closure there!

The Audi simply works, looks gr9 in my eyes and it also wafts rather well so that provides some comfort that I can still get about.

Almost forgot about the Corsa! It will want an MOT, hopefully it won't need too much in light of the low mileage it has covered since the last time and it has had new tyres too. I am scheduled to take it to it's annual trip to the Viva Vauxhall Show in Crail on 12th May, unfortunately that's the day after it's MOT

Not sure if it's a grump or a grin so in here'll do

Saw a broken car advertised for £250. Contact made and research done, I reckoned I could get it running and drive it home.

Turned up, told him I'd try and get it running and agreed a price-£200

Replaced 2 fuses and got it running however it's still not right-no dash lights, no headlights/taillights and a stuck brake so driving home wan't an option. Agreed I'd get back to him when I'd arranged collection.

In between this fucking about in the pissing rain we had to jump start his car for him too as it's fucked.

He said he had a mate who could transport it (15 miles) and would get me a quote.

By the time i'd got home the ad was updated to show it was running and the price had gone up.

He then sent me this message

I replied this morning and the following exchange was had.

What an arsehole. Did you really take the fuses back out?

No, but I wish I had!

Last night my wife informed me that my daughter's yellow Bini Cooper which I paid 425 for a clutch on a month ago is makibg aweful noises at motorway speeds.

Apparently she's tried to talk to me but I've fobbed her off.

Well that's because I thought it was a bit a back lash because before the clutch went she made me listen to it and it was clearly a bit worn but hey Midlands fucking gearbox circa 2001.

Anyway apparently I'm to help buy a replacement car.

I'll listen to it again today.

I wonder if it's worse after the clutch change. Maybe they did something wrong. Maybe it's not the gearbox.

I wondered if I could have the Bini and restore it to an as new state.

Get rid of the mx5. Use it at weekends.

I wonder if I should sack off the moanega which needs some Work and replace it with a 650i or an Monaro

I wonder I wonder.

Burnt out transit on the way to work this morning (possibly unrelated to the traveller incursion on the playing field down the road last night). Why take the engine out?

Usual MO from our dag loiking friends...steal a transit, have the engine out for one of their own and torch the remains.

I reckon you solved the wheel mystery, LP, how wonderfully obscure a choice.

Checked the new CV boots I bought a while ago against the ones on the car.  They look to be the same dimensions where it matters, the new ones just have less ridges than the old ones.  I was only planning to replace the boot on the side I need to do the wheel bearing on, unfortunately the boot on the good wheel bearing side has split 3/4 of the way around, fairly recently by the look of it, so I'll have to do both now which is a bit more faff than I wanted.  Still, at least I spotted it now rather than having it be an issue at the MoT itself.

Salutations everyone

I’m still alive just rather busy as I’ve moved the family full time to Bulgaria, we are just about to come to our 1 year anniversary. I’m splitting time between working in Shetland (to fund it) and being over here working on the house.

Still got the Granada in the barn, shipped over a pallet of spares from the UK inc all 4 doors, bonnet & full leather interior. She will be being put into the garage when it’s built and then the barn converted into a huge living room. Got the Transit registered on BG plates (the MoT here is laughable) and now got a Focus CC to run about in.

Hope you’ve all been keeping well in my absence

Probably for the best, not a pleasant experience by all accounts. Ask a glass of water.

I spent £8 on red stripe and didn't get drunk. 297851516e22b420c06e2c90e7221960.jpg95bb7a0058b7788719b0aa09782915e9.jpg

I always thought that particular shape of Civic was a pretty cool little car when I was a kid. I remember a really bright red one knocking round the neighbourhood back in the day. Very sharp styling.

In the days when I was Tontops I tried to buy one that has been standing on a mates neighbours drive.

I offered £100, he wanted £200. I bid him farewell.

About 3 years later the scrap man picked it up from where it had sat.

Not sure who lost out really. Probably the car.

Yuss another 'original' member spotted under a different numberplate! Glad you are still around these parts. I recall your avatar was once Beavis and Butthead.

I spent £185 buying this little sweetie in 2007. Yes, I really did put that graphic on it. I still like it. I should probably have some something about the crusty rear arches, but instead enjoyed many a mile in it, before flogging it while it still had some test on it.

They do like to rot there. I found evidence of a previous repair to mine that had been left in the spare wheel well, the PO had no clue it was there so made a good haggling point (especially as I'd taken a magnet with me and knew a proper repair had been done). The evidence? The old sill end/rear arch.

I keep this to show people with '80s and '90s Hondas and Rovers what the worst grot spot on them is.8ef0ec621633ad5e80572e221b15870a.jpgd06d5ed073386a6d89b52ff5243d3296.jpge7aa50d3e5230bc37105f190bd47263c.jpg

Mrs Cade has decided she's had enough of shitering and has purchased a Fiat 500L on finance! She has a fine history with shite, highlights include a Fiat Coupe, an Alfa 146 boxer and a 190D. End of an era, and now I have to decide what to do with her wee Daihatsu Charade. I rather like it!

Will I turn into Peter Kay if I drive the Fiat anywhere?. Collect it Tuesday seemingly, it's bloody huge!

The Vito has gone, longest I've ever owned any vehicle and I really miss it. No more camping for us for the forseeable future, There will forever be a turquoise van shaped hole in my life. :(

The cup holder I bought from a vehicle Dismantlers on eBay for a 1995 vw polo arrived today. No I don’t have a VW, but I do have a plan!

Pics to follow, but an x1/9 at last year’s Brooklands meeting had a cut down one between the seats that looked smart and useful. For £10 I thought it worth a try.
