A quantity of happy returns!

In other news, I keep gazing longingly at Trabants, I don't think I've had a blow to the head.

im in full support of getting a trabant :)

(this has nothing* to do with the fact a trabant is pretty high up on my hit list after I get the AC invacar model 70 :) )

if I had a choice id get one thats cream coloured like the one ageing wheels owns

(I wonder how much work it would be to convert one to RHD...)

Ah yes, but neither was there a clause stating that French barn finds on leboncoin couldn't be imported either.

Mot obtained on my Roffle winning 406 Coupé last week. Up on the ramp its oily incontinence was far too easy to spot...in fact it looked like it's been pissing out at a rate for a number of years.post-20412-0-64322900-1547587159_thumb.jpg

Definitely thought it was time it was sorted out. Today sump whipped off, cleaned up and followed by a good dollop of Loctite sealant. post-20412-0-02316500-1547587575_thumb.jpg

After a fresh oil and filter change it was time for a celebratory and leak free drive down to Tesco! post-20412-0-91286500-1547588232_thumb.jpg

Next on the list .. fitting the stainless exhaust system...

Re bushed the n/s track control arm on my T4 ,as the Mot man said at the begining of December ,  it has slight play in pin /bush .  X766 SKE

OK... it 's been floppin' about  , 'n banging all over the place , in the last week ..... I should have got it done straight away. Anyway ,all done now . :-D   Whilst underneath  it ,  and the engine undertray was off , I fitted a new p/s drive belt  .

Also, fitted a new exhaust centre box section too. I think it was for a Rover 600..but it fits a T4 1.9td  with a bit of cut 'n shut.. :-)

Welded  a reinforcement plate  to the rear cross member  of   a friends  Land Rover 110  double cab . It has an aftermarket spare wheel carrier on the back , so heavy with the oversize wheels , the bolts (10mm ) had ripped out a hole in the cross member ,allowing the spare to swing out wildly into oncoming traffic.!!

The Pajero is out of MOT.. it needs brake hoses and pipes sorting .

I bolted this steering  bit on, as the old one appeared  worn ...

Watching Barrett-Jackson classic auction on septic telly. A 1976 Porsche 914 with the rubber bumpers just sold for $23k. Looked real tidy but holy shit it's ugly, no sorry, very ugly.

I spent far too long last night mocking up the dealer info on my numberplate so that if I need to replace it I can replicate it somehow...

Yes you did spend far too long on the dealer info and not enough time on the font!!!

I've been following dollywobbler's Favorit shenanigans on the ol' Utube and the videos must have caused some serious short-circuit in me brains, as last Monday afternoon I found myself checking out a 1998 Felicia kombi 1.3 in a nearby village that the seller wanted €300 for. It had done 200k km and appeared reasonably sound in all mechanicals, apart from a handbrake issue and small hole in the exhaust. I listened to the wonderfully classic sounds of the small Skoda pushrod engine and marveled at the quick production of heat through the vents only moments from starting the cold engine. Body was fine, no ugly rust to be seen in the floor panels or chassis parts, and fluids looked ok.

The cabin was in very poor shape, though, and it looked to have been used as a tool hauler.

Still debating...

The answer is yes, you should buy it and document it here.

Have you changed the oil yet :-P

Tempted for sure.. though I'm fearing that the the grimy and tired looking interior wouldn't respond that well to my cleaning efforts. We'll see how it goes. Not many of these around anymore, though. And that pushrod engine..

Felly's are massively appealing to me too. You should see you're money back on it at that price! Has it had the head gasket done with mileage like that on it?

I did on the Pajero ...it was at least 8 years old as that is how long I've had it :-D   It were a bit claggy

@egg, seller had bought the Felicia from a co-worker of his and didn't mention of any HG work having been done. The coolant in the reservoir looked very clean, though.

Edit: now that I think about it, the coolant was suspiciously clean. I should get the car properly up to temp and observe the tell-tales before making any commitment, if I succumb to the temptation!

I mentioned the other day that the C15 had developed a sort of clonk from the nearside front, it has turned out to be an easy fix. I couldn't see any play in anything so got the local garage to have a look and it was just the front tyre has distorted, a shame as it had good tread. They put the spare on, this used to be on the driver's front but was going down. I had it checked and couldn't find anything wrong, it has held air while not used, but had dropped to 10lb just sitting overnight. Two tyres on order for the front and should be fitted this afternoon. The Land Rover continues to disappoint and has gone back in for oil leak, noise from turbo, clutch bleeding and something else that I can't remember.

Good news. Got a brand new MoT Certificate for my 1992 Rover 820 today. Initially failed on three items. Small hole in center exhaust can. Rear tires perished. Emissions out of spec.  The same guy as last year forgot that due to a gap in the database, it could be tested as a non cat car car. Guess he had been to sleep since last year. I have had garages put the wrong number into their computer more than once, only discovered when I went back to get a Form VT17. Its always worth checking that the right number was entered if you get an emissions failure. What I find baffling is, if the right number is entered, how can the computer fail a car?

The 172 has been sitting since October and the front brakes were badly seized on. Now free with the used of a big hammer and an extension. Win.

Diagnosed with a hiatus hernia monday.

Got told off on Tuesday for dropping my steroids too much - I constantly have a cold/flu - my meds suppress my immune system in order for them to work - hence I constantly seem to be ill.

I honestly cannot remember what it is like to feel well.

that's only a shed base lol

You know, if I put the BX on a classic policy it probably won't cost that much, and the tax isn't a huge amount either.  Then I don't have to sell the Rover or deal with the general public.

Because "computer sez no"?

Three car fleet best car fleet.

BX insured fully comp through a quick online shopping check is a meagre £140.  That's insanely cheap.  Why is it so cheap?  Maybe I really should keep the Rover.

Steady on there, he said a three car fleet, not a three car WORKING fleet.
