SO ROOMY.

Now the tidy up begins though, my least favourite part of the job.c81a0fca07969b8ba572a056601f86c5.jpg

FTP in car park in the 45. Dashboard lights up, turn the key, nowt. Been doing this a while now but usually leaving it a few minutes and trying again works.

Convinced it was either an immobiliser issue or starter motor, performed various key/button push dances with no success to rule out the simples.

Various research on the internet - stumbled across someone with a similar issue with the KV6 in the 75.

'Tried starting in Neutral - nothing'

Neutral eh ?

Started first time.

Still learning the foibles of an automatic and not having the selector tight in the P groove.

Least I now have a fix* for when it happens next time.

Rookie Badermatic mistake.

Imp Jr has just come upstairs and asked what I am doing and I've said 'Trying to find out what sort of carb I've got' and he ran off saying something that sounding a bit like "I'll get my Rancho!".

Few minutes later he turns up with his Rancho.

attachicon.gifRancho.jpg

I'm not exactly sure how he thinks it will help but 10/10 for trying.

Ive got ( or had) a gold one like that some 35 years ago.

I drew a few slugs in metal earlier for the first ever time. (Also in electric pritstix thread)

I think it went alright. Not least I am not aware of setting anything alight. Which is a bonus.

I did pull up the mask a bit soon after welding and have sun spots/blotches in my vision.

My xm did this to me in Peterborough, with Amy and a very little eva. The sinking feeling was just about sunk in, and I was getting ready for oh shit, pop the bonnet when I moved the shifter up by accident with my elbow and it clicked into P and fired right up! Hadn't yet told Amy either, she was still in my dad's house so I just kept quiet

Yup done that with the merc.....

Also panicked because it wouldn't let me take the key out when not in Park, me thinking it was fucked or jammed

Better than mine already.

If you get the full arc eye a day in a dark room is needed.

I might of found a replacement for the Renault 7. It needs a lot of work, but hopefully isn't too bad. I just need some more pictures then off to France.

Called it a night at 2330 but it's getting there.

What's the opinion here about a workbench? Do I relocate it down the rear wall, or have it like a galley kitchen, running down either side?

The chipboard that was part of the wall is going to get screwed back onto the wall and used as a tool board/shelf mounting point.03d07f7290c8d06dc8f11581fc6b6d81.jpg

Well the x1/9 has a new clutch master and slave, a new flexi hose and fresh dot4. And it’s all working again.

Rick said it wasn’t easy though! Lots of back gunk in the reservoir ( possibly the flexi hose rubber broken down ), gunky mess at the end of the cylinder too.

All pipes and the reservoir cleaned and pipes flushed. And its good for another thirty years.

Occasional Princess misfire turned out to be one of the HT leads coming unplugged a little from the distributor cap.  Plugged back on, misfire gone.  Good!  Now, tensioner and headlight aim to sort out.

Brilliant! How did you track it down?

Is it better or worse than when you sold it? It looks more original in spec, and its still kept its original plate (thankfully few people have the initials YYJ)

I'd have the units on the side walls, hopefully giving you extra length (fnarrr) for the Mini and MX5 to fit over winter as you suggested.

It appeared on eBay out of the blue, about an hour from home. Somebody has spent a fair bit of time putting it back to Series II spec. The plate is an age related one anyway, so can't go anywhere. But it was his first Land Rover (a slippery slope, that's been) and was part of the family and we're all thrilled to have it back.

Is that the same rover? Lights, bumper and plate in different places

Free fixes are the best fixes! Hope it wasnt any of the intrigued onlookers sharp intakes of breath that knocked it loose.

Reckon it was stage fright at meeting our resident celebrity.

...or the seagulls... or being next to an even weirder looking foreign car... or the attention... or the dog in a man suit...

It was a very exciting day.

Oh good. Nice to know I didn't break every car last night.

Been gazing longingly at Ford Ka (what's the plural)

Nailed on future shite, although most of them you see are that rusty they won't see another MOT, or clean ones are compartively too expensive  bcos new driver tax isn't it.

What's the Autoshite verdict on them? I know the 1.3 is an ancient Kent unit, but are they robust enough rot aside?

EDIT - Fuck that. http://autoshite.com/topic/21367-i-know-kas-rust-but/

Here’s mine, next to another rusty car. I Love them, but they seem to polarise opinion on here. Maybe if it had a different badge and was a sales flop that would be different? Anywho, take one for a spin and you’ll be hooked; I even love the pushrod rattle that mine has (earlier engine)

Fuck sake. Annoying electrical problem returns on the Lexus..same shit as before. Central locking, 3 electric windows and heaters refuse to work. This is pissing me off now. Has to be something simple but I don't understand how it has randomly come back again.

I don't know too much about Lexus electrics, but they sound like all things related to a body control module. Also things that will get a constant battery feed. Loose connection? Dodgy fuse to it? Water or condensation in the module?
