Old man has been maintaining this 2A for 10+ years, now the fella who owned it is selling up and moving so decided to sell to Terry for a relatively token sum. It looks great, smells great, sounds great (in a farty Morris Minor sort of way) and predictably drives like a pig. But look at it!!!!! Mega patina.

Saw a couple of crackheads being arrested at Halfords this evening.  What was even funnier for me was that the Police car had parked next to me and I couldn't reverse out of the space because they were searching them right behind my car...

That 2A is gr9.

I especially like the extra dash panel but curious as to why there are two voltmeters. The switch labelled freewheeling hubs is interesting too. They surely can't be electronic!

The capstan winch is worth about £400 itself.

The right hand side has AUX over the top, only spotted because I'm on the computer and the picture is of a decent size.

I saw that, but wouldn't it read the same as the other one?

Can you make out what the dial to the left of the main dash panel is?

I'm guessing there is no second battery present.

I cannot make out the furthest left gauge. It looks like the top half has a needle and the bottom half looks blank so possibly a digital something. It looks newer than the rest.

I was in there just now.

Oh that 2A is lovely, it's a shame I can't drive them far.

Massively against my better judgement I'm going to look at another car tomorrow.

I won't say too much apart from its just been mot'd, has a clutch slave cylinder leak, oh and .....

Conny pre Project Drive by the looks of that passenger airbag sign so real wood (yes, I am sad enough to ensure this is ticked when looking at these). What flava injun, mister ?

Ooh Personal Line, that interior makes it well worth the while IMO.

Is it green outside too? If so you're winning.

I went to a small car meet and visit at Angrydickys place of work last night in the SD1, I bloody love driving that car, it looks the bees knees and sounds so nice even if it is "only" a 6 cylinder, the 21mpg isn't quite so good but that's the price you pay to be as cool as me.

Dicky's work was very interesting too, he's works for a well known classic car brake refurbishers so seeing how the master cylinders, servos and calipers all get rebuilt as well as their massive supply of obscure parts (water pumps for Peugeot 404 diesels?!) was all very interesting I found.c3a0cd754798c2951ce995dcd8c6b942.jpgf7f8b31a4e19623a73c187732d09232b.jpg

Audi Knowledge needed.

My 1994 2.6i manual, RHD, non air-con, convertible needs a new heater matrix, I have found this one on ebay very cheaply, but is it the correct one?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-T-TEC-Heater-Radiator-Matrix-07-59-008-Top-German-Quality/192493916684?fits=Car+Make%3AAudi%7CModel%3ACabriolet&hash=item2cd188120c:g:HdEAAOSwLhBaum4n

And on a similar vein how does the dash come apart! Hidden bolts, the right order etc

Maybe interested parties have already picked up on this one, but Halfrauds has a Spring Workshop Sale starting, with 50% off certain Advanced toolsets and metal storage.

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchRouter?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&action=search&srch=springworkshopoffers

Yup, I understand they're still a fair old whack, but having worked there for a fair stretch we never quibbled over the lifetime guarantee.

Even when it was fucking obvious they'd burst the socket and fucked the wrench ratchet by slipping an 18-foot length of pipe over the end and getting their mates from the rugby club to jump up and down on it.

No problem, sir. No problem.

Wont change ratchets at my Halfords, excluded from the guarantee sir.

The 10-13mm ratchet spanner only lasts 5 minutes with me, possibly because its full of shale.

Used as intended, they are good.

I thought Halfords had changed their guarantee recently to include ratchets, when did you last try?

Radiator lower cover arrived today for the duster. Got it from a Polish firm called Heko, for the grand sum of £40.

https://www.daciamag.com/dacia-duster-winter-radiator-grille-cover.html

Hopefully, it'll help it warm up somewhat, whilst waiting for a new thermostat to arrive. Turns out, the Indian built dusters have a 87 degree thermostat fitted as new, instead of an 82 degree one, because they wouldn't have to change it for the local market then.(or because Renault. I'm not kidding myself here)

Google suggests fitting one of these and an uprated Nissan thermostat, and all will be peachy. (obviously it'll come off for the summer!)

It's a nicely finished piece of vac formed acrylic with screw clip attachments, took minutes to fit and looks pretty smart. Hopefully it'll help get more than fetid warmth out of the heater too!

Did you know:

The difference between the 2014 Vauxhall Insignia Sri Nav Vx Cdtieco Ss pool car that Gareth has the keys for on his desk and my 2001 gooner is:

BHP - 138 vs 120

0-60 - 10.6s vs 10.4s

MPG - 70 (car says 44.3mpg) vs 51mpg (my car says 54.3mpg)

Not alot of people know that!

That picture that was posted of the back of the KIA Magentis, the one with mud and potatoes growing on the leather from my beloved dogs, well today it got replicated in el dollop as some bright spark took the cover out of the back to wash and it didn't dry in time to take mutt and jeff to the park.... oh, well, dry and sunny no mud today.

Plenty of mud and it's all on the cream leather back seat!

The bastards! Our store used to always change ratchets - both wrenches and ratchet spanners. That was 10-20 years ago, mind - and they've been through a fair few private equity owners since then, always with an eye on pinching the pennies.

Try a different store?

This well-thumbed beast of a book arrived today, an authentic Ford Mondeo workshop manual - so I can now work on my Mondys like a Ford mechanic! (Yeah, right) It is probably more useful then the HBOL.

Modern fuel consumption ratings are ridiculous. I sometimes drive a 2015 Fiesta 1.5 diesel, that's supposed to be good for 78MPG but I don't see much more than 50 on average. Even on a long run low 60s MPG is its best. It's efficient but not *that* efficient.
