Your stoical approach is impressive Paul. I wish you and your family all the best.

Right. Here's some news then. I'm currently driving around The North in an MG3. So far, I really like it. More details if I can find a hotel that actually has sodding Wi Fi.

So sorry to hear the sad new taxi paul. Thoughts are with you and your kids. Take care.

That's shit TP, apparently one of my daughters has been ignoring letters from doctor to go for her first test. Mrs N has just said I can talk to her about it tonight as she might listen if I show her your post.

You and your kids are going to need all the love and support anyone can give over the coming days, weeks and years, let's hope reading the bollocks we post on here can distract and amuse you just enough to help you a bit.

Oh and DW, don't think you can sneak praise for the MG3 in and hope we won't notice, luckily I've already warned my daughters about the danger of Chinese MGs

http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/ were a good call, very fast service and what looks to be a good quality product.  I now have enough seal to do all four doors on the Renault and once it stops raining I can get it all fitted and hopefully make the car more watertight.  Looking forward to getting this fitted to hopefully make the car a bit more watertight.

I took our Volvo 740 to the garage who will get it MOTed for us. Unfortunately my BMW E30 has become a bit of a bed blocker, waiting for parts. They agreed I could break their rule of one car in and one out, this rule date back 3 years when their parking was full of my broken cars! They are goods guys and when I pointed out that without the E30 being ready to return, getting home was a problem. While they don't do loan cars, they offered me the loan one one of there own cars, a Peugeot 406 90PS estate, 173k but drives very well.

My E46 has passed an MOT. The handbrake is marginal though and needs a new backing plate. I have the part, just not the motivation as its pain in the arse to work on. The Clio is better put together!

I did the backing plate on mine by cutting a slice out of it, sliding it on then welding the slice back in . Much better than the alternative of doing it properly .

Just got back. From Bristol to Edinburgh and back we did just under 800 miles. Journey back took 9.5hrs, with lunch services stop and 2 pee stops. Probably about 7.5hrs of actual driving.

Roadworks were a constant nightmare. Thank God for cruise control though.

Actually feel alright though. Helped that we stopped pretty much every 2 hours, which gave a chance to stretch my neck (previous car accident screwed it up).

On the journey back, I filled the tank up just leaving Edinburgh. The devil's fuel powered spaceship Civic did...

The fuel may be nasty, but it does have its advantages!

Another interesting (and affordable) traction normale has just been pushed my way. 1950 small boot normale with pilote wheels rather rare ( although I'm not really a fan of the pilotes). Sold by the owner for the last 18years to fund a gite business in the Loire. Christmas prezzie time?

Not this one, but same year.

Oh and the piloted are the other pic a -lots of holes! What do you all think? Apparently they're quite valuable.

So, I'm now stuck at a hotel in Warrington ( :( ) having done my reintroduction to my old firm because the firm I had been working for having just started a month ago (because I wanted to go home every night) were fucking atrocious. The money was very poor and the planning was absolutely atrocious. I got so pissed off I rang my old firm and asked them if they had any work going and they were happy to give me work again provided I attend the induction today, part of this was actually because some of the lads I used to work with were saying how they were less cars per day but getting more money, plus there was a lot more work around the Midlands.

I guess it means yet more nights away from home again but more money in my pocket and hopefully some actual prospect of importing Lady_Sterling here once and for all.

Hope you're happier with the old company and Madame sterling can join you asap.

Ah, Warrington. Went through there last night instead of going over the viaduct due to being a wus. Now stuck in a hotel that's not in Warrington.

That's kinda my plan, except seeing as I can't weld I was going to pop rivet/bolt it back together with a bit of metal to strengthen it. Where did you cut yours?

Been cracking on with the Rover repairs, I must say in general I''m impressed with the quality of the nuts ,bolts etc fitted to it.,all came undone.... apart from ANYTHING with a 13mm head which appear to be made from reject quality melted cheese.

Just had a lovely evening after a garage owning mate called me in distress with a mk1 Golf that he's had in for weeks. He's fitted a new engine after the old one expired because of badly set up twin 45's..owner wanted it put back to standard k-jet. He'd done all the heavy work but couldn't get it to start. Got the message that he needed an auld cunt to come along who knows about these vintage cars.... I'm 42 FFS. Anyway he supplied the coffee and the GTi is now purring like a kitten.

No laptop required.

800 miles and you take the nasty diesel rather than the V6 cruiser? What?

Maybe those 13mm bolts were the one part made by Honda? :D

Yeh and they are actually 12mm!

Even bigger bellend alert, right thread, but 2 pages behind

Grrr. Traction already sold sight unseen for full asking price and not in the UK yet either!

Owner sounded pleasant though.
