The fair wife and I once attempted stolly bolly. We bought and consumed a bottle of stolichnya and a cheaper champagne one evening. Neither of us remembered going to bed and our headaches the following morning were biblical.

A couple of weeks ago I sent my licence off to the Divies to change my address. As I am coming up to 73 and since being 70 have had to get a medical every three years to keep the 7.5t entitlement I put a note in to say I would drop it. Licence arrived today which included the 7.5t until 2029 with no medical. I'm certainly not going to argue the point. 😄

Have you thought about moving house again to see if you can get a full artic license?

I was judging the show & shine at CamperMart this weekend. Best in show went to a 4wd VWT6 with a 2.5 litre five pot from an RS3. Tuned to produce more than 1000bhp, the owner is planning to break the current 146mph speed record for a campervan. He's aiming for 185!

I can't believe it, service time again for the couriering Caddy. Number 32 in my time with it, just an oil and filter change due.

53 days and 13075 miles since the last service, it might not seem too much for a courier, but December was pretty quiet, I also had two weeks off for Christmas and the first week of January was dead, then boom, from Wednesday the 8th to the end of the month just one day off.

I like to service it every 10k if possible, just not had the time, or it was pissing down, finally got a chance this afternoon.

I hope you're going to use it.

A friend of mine moved from Holland to Ireland in 1988 and somehow got given an entitlement for 16 ton trucks. He'd never even sat in one.

Mum's Corsa passed its MOT but noticed this:

Screenshot_20260203_104216_Chrome.jpg.7fd8961145a8d91bc95d3f4573abfb6f.jpg

Anyone spot the problem?

I don't know how many miles its got but its only had 2 MOTs and both at the same garage. This is why I don't go there any more but my mum likes them and they have helped her out on several occasions.

I've asked her to query it when they phone to say the car is ready as its in for a service as well.

Should it be 19,497?

That I can say definitely not. My mum usually keeps a car for 10 uears and in average it usually has about 20k on it but that will be much less now she is in her late 70s.

Makes no sense at all then, fuckwits.

Ask them to correct the mileage.

Went to the garage, they have 2 weeks to correct it but the mistake was made on last year's mileage so too late. It's right now though and only less by a couple of thousand. My mum wants to sell the car when its about 6 or 7 years old as she felt she got a decent price for her last car at that age. I dont think anyones going to think a well-to-do 78 year old in a nice house is at it on the basis of a couple of thousand miles.

Oil was over £100 for 3.5l but its the correct type for the wet belt PSA engine so I am OK with that if it prolongs the life of it (4 years old atm)

When you come to sell it, if the buyer runs a HPI check it will come up as a red flag for mileage discrepancy.

Might be worth asking the MOT station to give you a letter stating that they accidentally inputted the incorrect mileage to put in the service history. I managed to get a few removed from HPI with this kind of thing.

I think a buyer would take a sensible approach and see that its only a couple of thousand miles. If it was 15,000 miles discrepancy then yes, someone is trying to increase the car's value.

Plus, like us, they'd take one look at the seller and the house and likely be comfortable.  More than likely it will be a large franchised garage getting it as a trade in anyway, they seem to want Corsas (she's on her 4th now!).

Totally.

Just going from when I bought cars for Evans Halshaw. ANY excuse to slightly chip on the trade in, or buy in price, will probably be taken. My Dealer Principal was a twat for it.

They've given her a good price for her last 2 Corsas to be fair and it beats having to deal with the public (which would fall to me).

Wow that is a good effort in less than 2 hours.

I seem to remember when I had the L322 the garage cut some bolts out of the rear suspension because new ones could be fitted the other way round and save a body lift.

Before that I have had 3 classic Range Rovers and a P38. Now I have a L405, a Discovery 1 facelift and the 1985 Classic Range Rover I bought first in 2002.  I have got away with not having to lift a body in that time. (YET)

That doesn't sound right for an L322 - they don't have a chassis to split from the body

Those models don't typically need the body and chassis to be split. It's a particular quirk of the design of the Discovery 3, 4 and L320 Range Rover Sport

Gave the shop a ring today

Suspension is back together, engine is reassembled and back in with all the new stuff bolted on, brakes are back together. The final piece of the puzzle if I got them right is pipe from turbo to air filter as stock one no longer fits new turbo’s diameter. Gave them a number of custom piping supplier, so should be fine.

I also realized that it’s going to be quite heavily restricted by the stock exhaust so that will need a less restrictive piping. Next on the list I guess 😄

Hello 156 my old friend, I came to drive you home again!

Because of vision of total failure softly creeping left its seeds while I was sleeping and that vision planted in my brain no longer remains. Within the sound of diesel.

I’m yet to get the tally. I got a key and “didn’t add it up, but it’s not like you ever left anything unpaid”. I left 159 for oil, belts and rear brakes. Expecting ballpark of 3k. Full writeup soon.

Got my letter today to book the Astra in for airbag replacement under recall. They must be replacing a tremendous number of airbags, as my Astra is a 2012 model and the earliest Vauxhalls they are recalling go back to 2005.

I'm not normally a van of Transporters but that van is awesome! They are based about a mile away from me so I've seen it a fair bit. He had the engine out the day before the show as he was having some issues with it!

Wonder how that works for Zafira B owners with fucked CIM modules 🤔

The ex's was out of the warranty period for them when it started acting up (horn lights and etc don't work) and it's a few hundred quid dealer job for a new one and coded.

Would be a great con if you could rock up with an already fucked one have the recall done then start the "my indicator click/door open buzzer/horn doesn't work m8, it did when I came in" act

Edit-it's only the Zafira C. Shame

The Astra H also had CIM module issues, so I guess the same applies. My old H had early symptoms of CIM failure before I got rid (horn didn't work when the headlights were turned on).

I'm very surprised the Zafira B doesn't have the same airbags as the Astra H.

A budding Nigel Mansell in hot water. A very silly thing to do but he'll learn his lesson and go on to good things one hopes.

We've all done silly things when young and not so young - 😜  but I'm not starting a thread of mea culpa.
