What will happen is this. People will dither about and run through all the vital stuff like if it has a fully stamped up service history then hatch some scheme to A frame it to Dundee behind a Talbot Horizon diesel. Meanwhile some men with money in their hand and a hi-ab will arrive, pay the money and take it off to drive in an oval.

A teenageboy neighbour came past and said 'phwoar' at my Volvo 740.

Between him and his dad they have one working late 80s/ early 90s orange/red Scirocco and one parts donor, about which i told him 'phwoar', and that when i was his age I lusted after them. And still do as retro cool, of course.

(They're actually still there but I couldn't get new loom connectors to repair the system and if something looks ugly it has to at least be functional)

Does it still do the wee "do do doooooooo..... do do" noise when you hit reverse ? used to do my nut in parking at work in it, you had to do a 3 point turn to get into the car park, then another one turning the corner inside as it was so tight, then finally reversing into my space. 3 times I'd hear that thing in 30 seconds 🤣

One time it actually started beeping as if it was working, and I nearly shat myself with excitement. Then it never done it again 😭

Aye it does but the 75s parking sensors pick up stuff at the side so they also have an achapeevy when reversing out 🤣

After sitting outside under a tree for three years my other halfs CRX del sol is back on the road for the remainder of the Summer.

A fresh oil and filter, new battery and a couple of Bigg Red caliper rebuild kits were all that it needed.

Just a few mot advisories for bushes and Ball joint boots.

Because the wife and I is old the insurance was a wallet busting £91 and I got a £20 Halfords voucher back too so it was actually only £71 using man maths.

30 years old next year too.

Well, that’s totally knackered.

I’m surprised it worked at all (r50 MINI clutch release bearing if you don’t recognise it)

Having attended a wedding at the weekend, and the good lady said it would be nice to take ‘the old bus’, we took that. Wearing a suit, and driving a pale blue K-reg 320i? Shit, I felt like this tosser…

Thankfully we weren’t in a Diesel Maestro Clubman. We may have broken down and cried.

Otherwise, the car performed excellently.0 water or oil movement, and when in fifth gear with torque converter locked it’s a relaxing cruiser.

on some of the rougher Oxfordshire roads, it did jettison a brake caliper clip. It mainly stops the caliper rattling, so the caliper rattled when off the brakes.

having bought a paint pen, I now love marking things. I forget the torque setting for wheel bolts and so always have to look it up.

Quick test run and back to being excellent.

Glad it isn't just my car that does that, goes nuts at the work since the spaces are angled and usually I'm parking between two cars... BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP "I see the flipping cars you stupid heap of shit etc etc" but yet it still goes off it's bloody rocker.

Also, I didny know how to spell achapeevy until now. It has since been added to the autocorrect thing on the phone.

A what now?

A North of Scotland term for a meltdown or hissy fit.

The only good thing to come out of the time I lived in Inverness, other than my last day when I was driving away from it.

Let’s go out!

Wife’s modern: no charge on account of coming back from Devon in it yesterday.
Volvo: seized brake caliper… the reason we took the MG to Devon
Saab: still borked

So the Pontiac then, ever reliable… but the battery is dead. Odd… I’ve left it over a month before now with no issues. Battery jump pack? Dead. No way of getting jump leads to it.

2CV? Blocked in by the dead Pontiac.

Looks like we’re staying in then kids!

I dropped my Shogun Sport in for MOT about 40 minutes ago. It has done 3k miles since the last MOT. It has also sat in a corner at the stables for a few* months.

I am anxiously clicking refresh, waiting to see how much pain I'm in for this year.
