If your TB unit has the green spring on the side then it's got a wax stat.  Two phillips screws and it pings off.

Here is a guide I used.

Funnily enough I was playing around with the engine today replacing the fuel filter. The spring was gold.

I got a timely reminder not to drive like a twat this evening. Was showing off the 850 and lost traction in the wet on a long sweeping bend. I caught* it at least.

*I don't think I had any input really, I think the car just rescued itself. Either that or I'm better at regaining control than I thought.

Picked up a B205 turbo lump 160 miles away in my saab. I had visions of strapping it upright all nice but the reality came down to just tossing it in.

Funnily enough the guy I bought it off seemed to think we might be able to lift it up by hand and chuck it in, after a short discussion with my back I decided assembling the hoist would be the wise option.

It turns out Santa had a couple of sherries driving his van from the roof and we nearly crashed into him last night!

He is also in contravention of the road sign behind. Someone phone Mrs Claus and tell her to come and get him.

I'll get it legal, smoke around in it for a few months then it'll be up for swaps.

I could've sworn it was an estate the last time I saw it.

It's a saloon in full on drug dealer spec.

Chrysler looks well for a few hundred quid.  Baffling what some people will happily throw away!

Is it a Merc diesel under the bonnet?

M4 track day experience, teaching people how to drive like a cunt!

Fortunately I already know how.

I was offered a full fat Hemi one of these a few years ago for £600. It had a broken windscreen, and another screen was included in the deal.

I didn't do it as it was a saloon. Had it been a wagon I probably would have.

Gave the Capri a once over before I took it out, had a nice 20 mile trip around to find the cloth still hanging off the bumper. I did wonder why people seemed to be flashing more than usual...IMG_20211212_115902_3.thumb.jpg.90cc65c24c8116e61a37a56159940f00.jpg

Is it still a diesel and an autobox ...

Would of been well up for it if an estate ....

No work on the BX today, but I did do some work in the garage today to knock up a sturdy scratching post for the cats from some carpet offcuts and spare wood scrap bits I had floating about.

The top looks crap because next time I'll be chopping the top off and fitting a plinth on top next time I'm feeling like it

The Mini battery isn't enjoying being out in the cold this winter so thought I'd invest in a decent battery charger. Was roughly the same price as a new battery so hopefully this will revive it, they've got a good reputation for bringing batteries back to life on recondition mode

Bought a Lucas 'reconditioned' replacement alternator for the BX along with other goodies. Is this a good idea? YES.... nope, probably not. The good news is that it was the cheapest I could find so I'm expecting it to blow the regulator up as soon as the field energises.

This is the alternator I had to have replaced on the A8 on Friday. It's a lucas and looks very new.

I'm sure it'll be fiiiiiiiiiine😁

At least the back and front are identical to what's presently installed.

So the MX-5 is mine. I checked the sill edges behind the plastic (not removing) and all seems nice, could still be hiding things. Went to check the XJ6 and take new pics, realised I could park in a place to make swapping the washer pump easier.

Shame the undertrays are so spendy secondhand. It’s the biggest letdown on the whole car 😕

More pics in the FS thread - MX-5 to join the collective when I’ve got more light…

The Giffer Approved Repair method on the Jag is some mishappen wood screws and since it's plastic, it's quite easy to do.  Nobody* would blame you for doing that, tens of pensioners can't be wrong!
