The Polonez is off to get detailed today. Knowing my luck I'm quite worried it's going to be ruined in some way. Warrned the detailer not to try and polish/scrub window frames as the paint will just come off. Hopefully he doesn't start taking off original dealer stickers or something.

And here's the boot! The shell is really tired and everything else was shot and ended up in the bin. The remains WILL be restored though. 

 

Edit: looking at it again, I wonder if the pedal top mounting bar had a 90 at each end and slotted through the hole at the top of each front plastic strut? Possibly retained on the back with some sort of toothed washer or something?

 

Yeah it doesn't look like its going further than the strut cone at the front of mine, not the full width of the car like on that other one as theres nothing to attach it to. 

It looks like you have those holes half way up on both sides so I assume it went through there and was bolted on the other side.

The nice man from UPS delivered another box of finest rocking horse faeces this morning.

A pair of used-but-good headling mounting brackets for the Innocenti, to replace the existing ones which have almost completely disintegrated due to rust.  The front lights have been held in by a wing and a prayer for years now.  I wasn't able to fit them today due to the weather, but I will do so as soon as we have a dry spell.  They cost me what I consider to be an obscene amount of money for two slightly scruffy bits of bent tin, but that's one of the joys of owning the only example of a model in the country.

The 12v pressure washer I ordered off eBay also turned up this evening, exactly when Hermes said it would.  I was rather worried by this, until I looked on eBay and saw that Hermes had marked the parcel as "delivered on 20th August".  Phew.  Equilibrium is restored to the universe.

can confirm they do still exist, its who I have been having driving lessons with (with someone who started teaching 36 years ago so I have to wonder!) , you can check out my thread if you want to see me post about my lessons

There were dome lights with incandescent bulbs above all three doors which came on when the doors were opened. The potential for flattening the battery when camping was huge, so I had disabled their ability to illuminate, I've just had them all removed completely for a smoother look.

For an 'old skool' VW scene ridden van, I think that looks pretty good.

I could probably be accused, quite legitimately, at being stupidly cautious and replacing service parts more often than they really need doing. But I think this pollen filter is sufficiently had it!

Oh phew! With nothing to gauge it against I wasn't sure, even though it looked grotty to me... but yes, new parts now fitted.

Well for the first time since 2006 when I had the rotor arm debacle on my Saab and it conked out on me in the middle of Aberdeen rush hour, I'm waiting on a recovery truck.

Nothing serious really, just a snapped CVT belt.  However I don't have one nor the tools to change it on me, so not messing around.  If I wasn't the only mechanically literate one in the house I could have got the necessary things brought out and thoroughly burn my fingers changing the belt at the roadside.  Sadly I am the only one who knows the first thing about cars, so no dice.

This however is why I wouldn't even consider running around without a breakdown policy.  This is just a case of "Ah well, guess I'm waiting here for an hour..." Rather than a massive headache.
