Fail. ?

The CV boot and tyres were mentioned as advisories on last year's MOT so I knew they'd probably need doing although I didn't realise the front tyre was so bad. Overall not as bad as I thought it might be and no mention of corrosion which was a pleasant surprise considering the rather crusty rear arches. I will be getting it sorted as I enjoy driving it and I'd like a chance to get a couple of  pictures of it with my brother's Fiesta.

That’s an amazing result for a Fiesta in the deep autumn of its lifespan. Nice one!

3 morning's worth of shed tidying and chucking crap out has resulted in this so far.

Only a few gardening tools to hang up and the floor to sweep really. It's amazing how much you can get in a 7ft x 4ft shed with a bit of thought. Yes I have two lawnmowers.

Then I'll be off to the tip with that above tonne bag after I've put yet more trimmings in it. Hopefully I can at least see what is making the clonking noise on the Saab this afternoon.

Just bought Kyle a load of stainless nuts and bolts for his birthday, give him something to put on the workbench :)  Right, I am off out to try and restore my headlights. If I'm not back in an hour, send nubile blondes to look for me!

Saw a 2006 Morgan just now with the plate OO06 MOG which looked weird.  I didn't think you could have OO as the first letters on plate.  Is it some sort of special thing, like a military plate or something?  If so, what on earth is it doing on an ordinary Morgan?

OO is an Oxford plate according to my brief spot of research.

Nope, one of my customers has oo06**e. Her name is Gail so with a  strategically placed coloured fixing the plate reads like a strong wind.

There used to be a BMW running around in Plymouth with the plate: OO06OOD which I thought looked quite good, but I am sad that way.

Been a polishing of a solitary headlight, results are mxed mainly down to the fact that I didn't spend enough time on the various grades of sandpaper - it starts at 800, then 1500, 2000 and finally, 3000. The last two are cushioned pads and all of them go on a pad that goes in the drill. The final stage is applied with this posh sponge thing that looks like it escaped from an anachoic chamber!  Quite impressive really, Autoglym £28 or £24 with a trade card. Sadly, the body was vaguely willing to start again at 800 grade and do a better job but the drills battery was not and the final polish as it was, was done at a speed that a rusty clockwork slow worm would consider, tardy!

Here we are again at Garage Dubois-Loizou, to have another fucked alternator replaced by a non-fucked Valeo one:

This means there is a damp patch at home:

Ah yes, but if you park the car up again, there's no leak to see! Problem solved!

That CX would make me weep. Top stuff for keeping on with it!

Y'know why I keep on with it? Because everything* else about it actually runs just grand. I can't ask for more because I know I wouldn't find another N/A one that solid for the price I paid. Turbo ones are just complex.

Although,  Monsieur Dubois did say, as I was leaving his establishment,  that after years of training and experience in CXs he still couldn't understand why such a perfect car was built so badly. And that from a Frenchman!

What you really want is OM66GMO or OM06OMG or MO61GOM

It may not solve the problem,  but I like the way your mind works...

Bypass it. Just loop the rubber hose - it isn't needed really unless track work.

WIFE_CMS is currently jobless, the wee man has a constant cold and has entered the terrible twos and I'm working 15 hour shifts most days now.

Ideal time to buy another shitter with no MOT thats at the other end of the country.

Anyone have recommendations for tyres in Surrey, or even better have some cheap but legal wheels in 4x108 (I think) flavour in that locale that I can buy/beg/steal/borrow next Friday?

Up early this morning - I'm about to jump into the Rover and head north.  North of the Wall, in fact, to a mystical land where wild Volvos roam free and wee baby haggises frolic amongst the thistles.

I’ve got to be honest, saw one of those 508’s in Dubrovnik last week. Superb looking car-looked at the specs and the diesel and petrol engines are quite small but push out very high bhp-could b3 a bit dodgy in a few years.

Nope, a short break to take my mind off turning 40 on Sunday.

Taken a slight detour in order to enjoy a light luncheon at the legend which is Tebay services.

Rover is averaging 55.5mpg so far, according to the computer.  Lost a mpg coming over t'dales.

That’s the plan, I just need the chance to get under it to do that! I’ve been meaning to do it since the dripping  started. But I filled it up at work and by the time I’d driven the 8 miles home the fluid was low again!

Is it just me or is there a distinct lack of 69 plates about? They've been out nearly three weeks and I've only seen one, a Tesla model 3, which coincidentally is also the first one of those I've seen in the wild.

It used to be that you'd see a new reg within a couple of days of them coming out. Is everyone too embarrassed to have a 69 on their car?
