The Frontera is on its way to get looked at properly this time. Everything looks as though should so no idea what's broken.

 

 

 

 

Not related but to add to the excitement just found yet another leak from the bathroom too but this time into the extension...

Do they not use salt over there in winter? Just wondering as the Cavalier is clearly a daily yet the arches are still there.

Not really seen any gritters out here

I think they just keep on top of keeping roads clear when it does snow,plus highly recommended winter tyres are used by everyone

There are some hugely rotten cars here though.I have seen a Mazda Montrose that has a boot lid made completely of wob of various generations.....

Quite a few mk2 Cavaliers near me too which seem to be in fairly decent condition

That does definitely sound like a dry seal...….. I'd be swapping the shock out at the least. Do you have any ready to fit or are you prepared t just pay for 'whatever' comes up?

I don't have any bit but I know the guy gets stuff from Euro car parts with a good discount.

 

The other week he did two bushes on the back of the ST. He said it would be expensive. It was about £130 when he'd done. His idea of expensive is a bit off.

Having a newly-replaced thermostat on the Audi appears to be a poisoned chalice as it's unveiled a hitherto masked overheating issue

 

It isn't losing any water and the old oil that came out showed no signs of water ingress but it heats up to nearly 110c on a run and appears to be unable to cool itself down to the 90 is that it sat at for the first few days after fixing.

 

Just as well I employed the 'drive around for a bit, spend later methodology'!

 

Still a nice car though.

Small update. Seller visited 'me' today and fitted the replacement amplifier in the hope it would bring the OE stereo back to life.... Just as soon as it was fitted and connected the radio wireless burst back into life! Yah dancer! Replacement came from a LR breaker via eBay. £30 well spent by the seller. I've since tried Dark Side of the Moon on cd and it sounds pretty bloody good to me! SW controls all work with a confidence inspiring, click! Not tried the cd changer yet, but that works too, AFAIK. 

 

As of tomorrow, if anyone is looking for me? I'll be in the shed working on Ronnie the Red Range Rover, whilst listening to ma tunes.

Seemed to cool itself back to 90 and stay there on this run home so whatever it is thats reducing the engine temperature (heater set to cold deliberately to test things) it can consider itself 'working'.

Does sound like a block radiator or the cooling fan isn't kicking in. Is the top hose on the radiator getting hot when up to temperature?

It could be the fans- god knows how long it ran without a thermostat before I got it - they could be siezed?

Found it in a charity shop today for £3.00. does anyone want it for their period shite. Don't know if it works. But I will post it for free and you can have it for free. No Dolby , Bluetooth or sat nav I'm afraid.

At 110C they should almost certainly be on. Probably at that temp they should be at full speed. Popping the bonnet when up to that temp will tell you quickly enough.
