My postcode is Liverpool 36. So it's not good for any insurance. Hasting direct said no can't cover me. Due to postcode and jap import. In the end it was £602.00 for mine and £1.100 for daughters. Daughter has 2.0 kia sportage ,25 yrs old with 8 yrs no claims. The meerkat was coming in at £900 plus to start just for me.

I was filing my Peugeot 205 auto's MOT paperwork yesterday and just happened to look at the recorded mileage versus last year's figure.  17,200 miles covered !  Bugger.  My insurance limit is 12,000 miles p.a.  I 'phoned Legal & General/Sabre and they did not kick up a fuss but asked for an extra £1-20  to cover me up to 18,000 miles for the last few weeks on the current policy.  The renewal due 11th April, this time for 18,000 miles, was £192.  It was within £30 of last year's quote, so I went with them again.  I'll have to check the Stellar's mileage as well.  Although I don't use it as frequently as the 205, I think its insurance limit is only 8,000 p.a..   Quite odd really.  When I retired nearly 9 years ago, I thought my annual mileage would drastically reduce because of no more commuting at 24 miles each way per day.  Somehow I've replaced commuting with a similar mileage of pootling around the local lanes.

Bloody hell, do you live in Mosul? I know a 17 year old would need to pay through the nose but I can't believe you would need to pay a grand. What do the meerkats say?

My quotes were generally around £2k when I passed my test (at 18), now three and a half years on, my insurance was £998.20 fully comp with both my parents on, with Privilege. Would have been £850 but my mum had a claim against her insurance in 2014 where her old Polo's ABS noped out and she hydroplaned into a Jazz.

Mainly for Citroen Lickers!

Chevronic Anniversary bash today in Hitchin saw a good turnout of Citroens, Rob Moss the proprietor also had his Hillmans and MG Magnet on show. There were 2 P6 Rovers, Simca 1100, Renault 10, Renault 16, Daf 66, Triumph 1300 and Lotus amongst the guest cars.

They are carrying on in a hotel to party the night away but I have a prior engagement with Buckingham Canal Society.

What engine's in that 800 then? Did they ever do a V8? Looks very clean.

No V8, just Honda or KV6 depending on age.

So since the 19 is departing, I'm looking for a small French car to tinker with whilst the Blue BX returns to the road.

Viewing a big diesel French car tomorrow morning

My post code is L37,  The 3.2 MV6 Omega with 20K miles annual use of which 10K are business, came in at £429 with Direct Line.

Go compare comes in at £410 to £500

Apparently it's my one Sp30 and not the 20 years no claims bonus that causes the cost to be higher than I'd like.

If I add the 23 year old son, who has his own car, it comes in at £900.

Spent a few days away at a conference this week, so Mrs_L1's K11C promptly pulled a fast one.

Many thanks again to ScaryOldCortina for sorting it out, it drives loads better now it has new plugs and a working coil pack :)

A*** will undoubtedly break down again.

Seen my mate today. His vivaro minibus is still crocked ,despite being fixed three times by local vauxhall dealer. Limp mode with fault on injectors or something. Anyway local dealer says the will take it back on Monday and if they can't fix it they send it to their "centre of excellence" in Chester. Apparently they could have it for a month and the mechanic at the dealers tell him that if vauxhall fix it they don't tell the dealership how it was done. My mate is not into cars at all and can't understand wtf this is all about. Neither can I to be honest.

Despite weeks of free time all I've managed to get done is remove 4 bolts from the gearbox (hoping I could then drop out the front drive shaft) from the donor car. Would it bugger. Also useful medium ratchet is missing and 13mm socket from set.

I'm beginning to think taking the engine out of the car is a waste of time and effort just to have it for spares.

Donor has to be removed from drive by end of the month to comply with cuntcil.

Where can I find a Rover SD1 in-tank fuel pump and sender that isn't being sold by Rimmer's?  I'm loathe to pay £100 plus postage for this.  I haven't bought an SD1 (booo!), it's for the Princess, they use the same part.

Posted

Why don't you get a universal electric fuel pump and use that, mounted externally to the tank. Modify your existing sender to bypass or delete the pump bit on it.

Posted

I'd just like a nice tidy install with everything contained in the tank properly, as originally done.  The system I've got now is fine, it's just messy and the oil leak really irritates me.  Having an external pump is okay but it's another thing to trap dirt and rust under the car, something it doesn't need help with.

Autoshite was down for the server upgrade so I got bored and moved house. I live in Glasgow now.

Apparently all my posessions will fit in a Renault Master, just...

This CR-V is worth a lot less than I'd have expected - only about £2k tops. Wouldn't have thought that by looking at it, big shiny thing with leather and a hell of a lot of toys, solid quality etc.

I see why it might be a good car for some, Honda reliability and quality, while looking premium and pretty respectable. Doesn't give off the feeling of a sub-£2k car at all.

Then again I'd have also said it was a lot newer than the 54/05 plate it should be on (not sure which, first reg and first use are 5 months apart). Which explains the private plate, I suppose.

Fleet reduction level: Achieved!  I'm now down to two cars in use and one not, which I think is pretty manageable

Until I win another Roffle of course!

Off to pick up the Lexus which has been lying in Ayrshire for over a month. It's like a mini collection. Will it start and make it back to Fife?
