It is a wonderful fleet you have there sir. I see you are channelling your inner district nurse with the minor. 😁 Your kids will have some wonderful memories.

Wow! Absolutely perfect minor spec!

I wonder what was going on in the mind of the guy that put the kidney scalpers on? Takes all sorts I suppose.

My fave spec too, my first was a 4 door so ive always had a soft spot for those. Plus the sweet little 948 and clap hands wipers with an original issue plate.

These arnt speed machines; its probably not used to climbing hills in Jaywick, but there are plenty in West Devon. Even so it felt quite “flat” performance wise, and it occasionally backfired on downhill engine braking situations. Plus its only covered 1000 miles in the last 25 years, although it looks to have had a recent thorough service.

My plan of attack on the flat-ness was to use simply use it, and replaced a perished distributor advance vacuum hose and also slightly advanced the distributor position. Its definitely a bit more eager now, at least as far as can be  expected.

Meanwhile i went shopping in the VDP1300 which is driving really nicely and, to my eyes, looks great in a slightly dilapidated way.  I keep looking at it, i really like the design and packaging of it. Plus i keep crawling all over/ under it expecting a horror show but it isnt even very rusty. Im going to attack it with many litres of dynax s50 when the weather is a bit warmer.

  • HMC changed the title to HMC- Morris tuning / VDP dilapidation
  • HMC changed the title to HMC- INCOMING? withnail spec P6

So, its mine. I had a long chat over the phone. Its been used regularly, the base unit is apparnelty good, hes spent a grand on the brakes, but its cosmetically dreadful. The opposite of many p6s then, i hope.

This is a bit like speed dating. Bought at 845, to be collected at lunch, and delivered for dinner.

Lets hope its not a minger where it counts, and that we have a meaningful relationship.

Can't wait to visit the Tavistock Motor Museum this spring.

Congratulations @HMC

What's the current fleet status, all working and driveable?

Yes, you can take any/ all of them for a blast around if you fancy!

My Russian girlfriend thought it would be offensive to drive through northern France with a poppy on the grille; i thought it was more a sign of solidarity with the french?

It won’t be as bad as David Cameron’s visit to China a few years ago, wearing a poppy.  A nice reminder that we got the entire nation hooked on opium and charged them handsomely for it👍

Cracking fleet update, I think once you get the Minor running right you’ll find performance is fine.  Four-up attempting a long, steep hill will be a struggle but I bet you’ll find that 90% of the time it’s other traffic that’s holding you up.

Growing up, there was one parked up on a friends street, sort of derelict. I remember if our ball ever went astray and bashed the sill, it would flap around and huge chunks of rust would fall to the ground. I hope that doesnt come back to haunt me.

Looking good Matt I have a 2200sc aswell. My father took it apart and completly sorted out the rust on mine. Just a few niggly bits then it will be on the road.

I mean- it looks dreadful. But it drives wonderfully, and the base unit is not rotten.

thats lovely! thats exactly the sort of shite id love to have along side REV solid underneath where it counts, and nice and shabby on the outside, no worries about having to street park it and and anything nice deteriorating or such :)
