Probably be fine if mb of 2000's era.

Yes they rust and have stupid electrical gremlins but failing to complete a journey is generally not in their nature.

Only happened twice in 8 years on my ml and both occasions entirely my own fault.

Idea for a TV programe. Join Michael Portillo as he journeys on the rail network with an original edition of JALOPY to pick up an ill advised car purchase.

"Great Replacement Bus Service and Beavertail Journeys of the World." I'd watch it.

God speed, sir.

Now slumped on the train, nobody has sat next to me as I look like a vagrant and have been going around barefoot after wringing out my socks and sticking them on a radiator.

If only they knew I was going to pick up some cherman engineering. I should say 80% cherman engineering, as at least 20% has oxidised, in lots of odd places like half way up a door skin etc.

Something "scene" I reckon.post-17481-0-03825800-1483876036_thumb.jpeg

Yes he ruined on of my favourite songs. Every time it comes on I picture him with a big cheesy grin greeting hordes of deluded people by Downing Street. Cringe.

Professor Brian Cox (keyboards/backing vocals) has done all right since...

I don't know whether I'm getting jaded by this car buying malarkey. Spend peanuts and trust someone you've never met before to be honest. Why do we do it to ourselves? I wonder if ive got some sort of compulsive personality disorder if something like that exists. ( ends post to google it)

Crippling self doubt is just part of the mental journey that accompanies any collectioneering. It can come in waves, pulses or spikes at varying times.

It usually precedes jubilation.

Ace, a proper collection thread. Key handover shot for tens across the board.

God speed brave Brooksta.

I know how you feel. That song makes me think of Deux Jaguars John Prescott dancing awkwardly at the '97 election.

Driving in your car, I never ever want to go home, because it's not my home it's their home and I'm wanted no more.

Not my words, Lynne, the words of Alan Partridge.

Right got the car, en route back at the mo, drives well, looks like its been dunked in the north sea. Quite spritely for a crappy c180 ( perhaps the weight shedding corrosion is coming into play)

Previous owner N Farage?

I disgraced a Merc dealers earlier by parking up ( I chose the most prominent place to park in silent protest at their defective corrosion protection treatments) To buy a battery for the needlessly complicated fob.

A rotten tub. And a skip.

Despite everything I quite like it!

That's awesome. I hope its staying like that! I think you'd be pretty much guaranteed the parking space to be free either side by the time you get back.

Nice rust. Well done.

Is that not the remains of a Saltire sticker on the plate, so not N.Farage, more N.Sturgeon...

Looks like the Scoto-flag has been yanked off leaving a sticky residue all over Europe.

That's grim, by the way. Has the rust just eaten through the rear plate mounting holes?

"Manchester so much to answer for"

More relevant to my life than to collectionearing a slightly wonky merc but if we are doing Smiths lyrics.....

Can I start an argument by asking if the euro plates will be remaining or leaving??

That is superbly crusty, well done.  Nice beige interior though, which makes up for the corrosion.

Love it, what a superby shonky old bus. Rotten in every conceivable MB spot, that is. I thought the Silver ones rusted.........!

ZWEI UND ZWANZIG PUNKT FUNF out of ZEHN.

Is that not the button that disables the alarm if the car is being lift towed?

That is fucking godawfully woefully miserable. You have won Autoshite 2017 and possibly 2018 as well.

Congratulations!

I always thought it amuzing that Mercs should fit that button in such a prominent place - e.g. right next to the hazard warning light switch, another oft-used control.
