Resolutions 2017

I need to increase the percentage of working cars in the fleet.

This means I have 2 options.

1) Fix some of the ones that don't work.

2) Buy some more that do work.

Place bets now.

I need to get the Renault 6 back on the road, and the Volvo, if not back on the road then at least driveable.

I also need to pull my finger out and do something with the A35.

Need to stop thinking that my 2003 Civic is the best thing since sliced bread, ok its reliable, economical has working aircon and toasty heater but it just goes and stops every time I want it to, there is no sense of adventure on journeys anymore; I really hate it.

ps it cost very little and is quite cosmetically challenged, as soon as it goes wrong I will buy something interesting honestly I will.

Plan A: Somehow escape the clutches of modern finance deal... Replace modern with e34, 190e, XM, or similar.

Improve MX5 cosmetically, then sell in favour of a Porsche 924

Find a summer project - then learn how to do stuff to fix it!

Plan B: Continue exactly as I have done in 2015...

I'm hoping for plan A!

Plan B happened in '16, so I'll stick with plan A's hopes for this year I guess...

To actually finish my mk1 sierra, this has been my aim for as many years as I can remember though

Hmm, lose weight, be less grumpy, use my old cars more. Not sure that's an entirely achievable list.

Well after a sense of deja vu (changing clutch in a white van in December) I plan to avoid bypasses for a while. In seriousness though I would love to push on with man and van and hopefully become self employed without another job. Get the bloody kia gone, fettle the van till its perfect and if I don't get my contract at argos renewed in January and I go back into care work I'll probably end up buying a small cheap banger so as not to pile miles on the van.

On another note, a happy new year to all you Shiters. Here is to hoping your eBay watch lists is never ending, wallet always full and other half doesn't find out about the hidden ones.

Fix some cars, sell some cars, buy some cars. Order may vary.

Maybe make some video blogs.

Insure Skyline and get some use out of it.

Might wash the Volvo but no promises.

No point setting unrealistic targets with 2 babies

I have set myself some (frankly unrealistic) goals for 2017. I want to get over my wife and move the fuck on (only 4 years, grow a pair man!), smoke less (giving up will never work), get my health sorted (a bit) use the Bentley a LOT more, get the Mazda back on the road and use it a LOT more, sell the Kia (or burn it, give it away, raffle it... anything!) and stop being quite so much of an utter prick..

I also want to read more, go out more, stop being quite so much of a hermit, stop spending money (I don't have) like water and sort out the garage/storage issues.

If I achieve ANY of these, I will be both amazed and delighted.

Happy New Year one and all. :)

My car-related New Year Resolutions are:

  • Get the rust on the Galloper fixed when winter is over
  • Rent a garage for it to store it because this winter was it´s last
  • Get the Pajero V6 legal by buying different wheels and tires
  • Buy a winter-car in autumn that I really don´t care for like an old Audi and drive that to the ground

I made some unrealistic targets for 2016 with the Kallista project. What is now achievable is to be showing the finished car at NEC at the end of March for the resto show, goal 1.

Secondly I want to get my Mini built and finished, it's taken very much a back seat for 10 years and deserves to be a runner again, goal 2.

Thirdly I need to update my thread(s) and start some blogs, goal 3.

Lastly there needs to be a degree of fleet reduction, I have a Metro to MOT that I don't now have a use for - maybe a future raffle, goal 4.

Happy 2017 everybody, see you at the NEC in March!

I need to clear out stuff. My collection includes a turbo engine and straight cut box for a mini, cab for a land rover, loads of old motorbike bits. All good stuff but would be better if I actually owned any of the vehicles they fit anymore which I don't.

I may also think of swapping the dolomite for something topless as my daughter misses the mx5 but I love the dolomite.......

Have some real concern.

Sell the XM was my resolution last year. I still have it.

Posted

I need to get the SD1 finished and on the road.

I need to use the busa more - I do not use it enough to justify having it.

I need to start putting me and my family first instead of my job.

I will definitely be telling people to fuck off a lot more.

I see grumpiness mentioned.   I, too, have pledged not to get the hump quite so often.   Being rostered in to work today isn't fucking helping, though.....

Sounds like the list Mrs N gave me as my* resolutions.

Resolutions? Get the bx on the road, finish my dandy trailer tent and use it. Fettle the new xsara van and enjoy that. Want to get out and enjoy more shows this year too.
