autoshite triple crown

What if some network, desperate for programming, had a show called Autoshite Triple Crown, where contestants

competed to see who had the most autoshite 3 cars in a 3-car collection? Well, that's not gonna happen. But what

would these cars be? I'll start out with a couple of combinations:

1. a Trabant      a Yugo     a Renault LeCar

2. any 3-cylinder car      an electric Citicar from the 70s     a modestly priced Fiat Punto, whatever that is

Posted

1. a Daewoo Cielo

2. a Dacia 1310

3. a Hyundai Elantra.

Am I a contender?

Posted

1  Citroen ZX n/a Diesel

2  n/a Diesel Citroen ZX

3  Diesel ZX n/a Citroen

4   ZX n/a Citroen Diesel

Do I win the  kumquat  ?

5 Rover 218D (the one with a Citroen ZX n/a Diesel engine)

(Daewoo) Chevrolet Tacuma, petrol auto

Rover 75, petrol V6

Rover 213SE, petrol auto and older than any R8!

Oh and a brown Cadillac....

In the show, I don't know if 3-of-a-kind of one poorly-conceived model, or a royal flush of 3 autoshite examples from different makers would win, or what prizes for winners* would be. You'd have to factor in uncollectibleness, unappealingness and mechanically-questionableness, I think.

None of those are any where near turd-like enough in my estimation - I'd be buying multiple rofl tickets for any one of them. Have I misunderstood da roolz?

Well, it's what I have and none were at all valuable when acquired, nor indeed particularly sought after now.

Perhaps I misunderstood - thought it was about three car bottom trumps. Cars you actually had, not putative garages.

When I was 21 I saw a Fiat X1/9 and thought it was the coolest thing on wheels, if you overlooked the stories of electrical problems. I never drove one. Are they mini-Miuras or Fiat 124s without the power and room?

They are a cut price 308GTS imo. Massively underrated, unfairly tarred with horror stories about electrics and rust. Pure, great fun and very clever.

X1/9s are amazing cars. Telepathic driving, loads of storage room, warm in winter, great in summer. Don't rust THAT badly for when they were made, either, but they looked scabby quickly in the UK because of the metal nose/low front/our habit of putting corrosive rocks on the road for fun.

^^ Always had a soft spot for that shape, but they were mostly all gone by the time I was in the market for one. >> enter the Mk1 Mr2 which hung around a little longer

Why do I get the feeling that Nigel Bickle would be watching each episode thinking, "I could beat that with this, this, and this..." and have a different selection of winning chod for each and every episode...?

I used to think the X1/9 was a pretty car but otherwise a bit of a joke until a guy I knew when I was at university bought one. I went in it and it completely changed my mind. They're fantastic little things and such fun. They feel like a tiny exotic.

They do.  I loved the X1/9 we had in Cyprus, it was a barrel of laughs to drive.  In all the right ways!  I'd have another one tonight.
