My plate was issued from November 1924 according to that.

AS your reg has the letters after the numbers it would have been issued from August 1962.

Ah....OK. That means the person I bought it must have had it from new.

I was TH15 EAR earlier which made me think of my dad, he'd grab my ear and say "what's this ear?". Just one of his funny little ways

Not 'great' in any sense, but interesting to see an old style plate on a boring modern.

The plate also carried the dealers name and rear sticker so it has certainly been on there a long time. I guess like my previous Micra post, it's a plate passed down through the generations?

I love it when the plate is worth far more than the car.

CND does love a 4D* private plate. Now he has 2 pikey trucks he's gone dead exclusive. One is like CT   P527G, the other CT   P579G. So they're almost sequential* if you squint really really hard or get a child to stand in front of the bit of plate you don't want.

I bought a copy of this 1972 book the other weekend:

5000 CHERISHED PLATES PERSONALISED NUMBERPLATES CAR BOOK, WOODHALL - Picture 1 of 1

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235437268691

I didn't pay anywhere near the £24.99 this seller wants!

It's a curiously engaging read, really just a long list of 5,000 interesting number plates with notes of varying levels of detail about who owns it, and/or what it was attached to. Some owners have contributed additional notes and photos.

Definitely pre-GDPR days, it gives the owner's name and address for quite a few of them.

I found S18 on a BMW last night in Edinburgh.
I've only seen a few of these short S coded plated in Edinburgh. The most famous of all is S0 that is on Edinburgh Council's vehicle for the Lord Provost.

Essex County Council have ECC 1 on the mayor's car, but they could probably afford it after selling F1 and 1F
