That NZ plate site is awesome, both for ease of use and a government-run site actually looking decent. I can have P1L0CK on a plate, just need to emigrate.

I saw GAY 348L on a newer shape tigra this raised a smile, then I saw in small writing at the bottom that the owners name was gaynor

When I was a kid we had neighbours with a white Volvo 144 saloon with GAY XXL on the plate. I always thought it wasn't a very gay car, an early sign of gaydar, clearly.

I recently discovered F456 GTA lives near me. What car do you think it's on?

Well you'd be wrong, it's not a Ferrari 456 GTA but a sodding BINI Cooper! Waste of a potentially decent plate...

This just popped up on my FB account, spotted by a mate over in Calgary.

At Tesco, in Grimsby, earlier this evening: a Mercedes van-with-seats (?Vito ?Vaneo), numberplate HPV1.  Thing is, the first thing that jumps to mind - and to Google - about HPV is that it stands for Human Papillomavirus, which can cause cervical cancer and genital warts

I need to get a pic of a Mitsubishi Pajero local to me with the plate G1POE. Very apt seeing as it is parked next to a pony trap.

Also SPL1F on a black Discovery

A local porta-bog hire company has ## LOO which I quite like and someone with a highly modified Defender has ## MUD.

Saw a PiTiful Cruiser today with "CR8" on it.   Apart from the fact that they are indeed, a crate, it struck me as a potential waste of what I am assuming is the eighth registration issued in Southampton (I think its genuine, not an auction job as CR13 was on its original veteran locally for donkeys years).   The plate had the logo of a recently moribund Chrysler franchise in the city and I remembered something about it belonging to one of the company founders.  Presumably he had one of these things left in the showroom when he turned the lights out and ended up having to take it home.   No doubt the original wearer of CR8 is dust now, but it would look a hell of a lot better on an S1 Bentley or a Lada for that matter....

DA1 used to live on a white Maestro Vanden Plas years ago. It belonged to an archivist friend of mine from Wolverhampton and one of the people instrumental in the beginnings of the Balck Country Living Museum. When the maestro was eventually sold, it moved onto a Rover 400.

Didn't get a photo, but up near Holborn yesterday I saw a 110 lr with the plate HU63TOY. Made me grin.

I forgot about a local one that is probably the best plate I've seen; a Chinese lady has something similar to 'N11 COW' on her MX-5, 'ni hao' being hi/hello in Chinese.

Just reminded me of an X3 in the next street. MR54 BUG , not sure if they work for the nhs.

That number is the only number one that has been in the same family since the first day that they were  issued (in 1903) The owner gave a talk to our transport group a little while back and showed all the cars that it had been on, some quite exotic things in the early years of the last century

Up to date now, I saw a couple of good attempts today, top marks for trying:) avan owned by a local company that fits those windows in loft conversions VE11LUX, and a Beetle convertible MED111M, which from a distance looks like an excellent summary of the vehicle's qualities ;0
