Invalid carriage blue Mk1 Cavalier

I reckon one (or more) of the big name classic mags would be glad to have it feature. I bet they'd give at a proper feature and wite up, the multi page features not just the little 'readers cars' bit. You should definitely try!

Cool Lambretta, a mate from work has one he used to run daily. He gets really pissed off when I keep calling it a moped!

I'd be interested in a thread on here if you decide to start on yours.

Outstanding! Is it 100% finished in your eyes yet? Or is there still work to do?

Just.... Just fantastic! Shite to concourse in however long it's been!

Can I just check you have some bloody good security on this? Like a couple of Rottweilers or maybe the mother in law in the boot?

Astonishing in both its quality of finish and in its speed of execution! Stunning work and an equally stunning Cavalier!

Super job!

Scooter Musings....

At Killington Lake sevices M6(S) the other week I saw a guy on a scooter... No covers/'ratty? look??'.

He had a peashooter 'snake style' around & up & over.

Plate was 3x3 - no suffix.

On his own with a fairly hefty camping pack on the back.

Mirrors were 'minimalist'.. best for looking at traffic

He roared off... the exhaust2x smell gave me a woodie!!

I presume some 'hot' brit 50/60's affair ;)

Absolutely brilliant. Wish I had your talent, skills and patience!

Cheers! I definitely have patience!

That is stunning,

Well done B)

Thank you kindly!

The Lambretta thread will be interesting :)

I'm gonna take a break to enjoy the rest of the Summer, but will be on it soon enough. :)

I liked this car before it was restored, but I love it now :)

Many thanks! I loved the look of it before restoration, but it needed doing if the car was going to last.

Should be September/October. :)

Cheers - just under 11 months! I still intend to get the seats re covered and dye the carpets due to sun bleaching though.

There is a bit of security in there.

Probably a cutdown Lambretta - popular with hardcore scooter types since the '80s. They were worth diddly squat back then, so much angle grinder action happened. :)

That Lambretta looks like too much grief. I'll do you a favour* and take it off your hands for £100 if you like :)

I've just read this thread for the first time, from start to finish, and all I can say is Wow! What a superb job done. Brilliant stuff.

I'm a sucker for punishment - no such thing as too much grief! A mate intends to sell one of his Lambrettas soon, if he ever gets round to giving me a price I'll let you know chief. :)

Many thanks Mr.Rod/B :)

The MOT seems to have been timed to perfection weatherwise. Been out and about in this to show a few friends what's been occupying so much of my time this year. I even took it to work to prove that my reasons for doing bugger all overtime this year were not fictional.

All too soon it was time to put it away again - after a couple of pictures! :)

You ought to take the car somewhere which hasn't changed a lot during the past 40 years and attempt to take some 'period' photos of it :)

I'll message the previous owners again shortly and link them to this thread, they'll be delighted to see it I reckon.

How marvellous. A thoroughly great resto.

Stunningly awesome,

Thanks very muchly! :)

Momentum has been lost since I've not done any work on this for a week. Today I dug these period correct mudflaps out of storage, and will hopefully get round to fitting them soon.

The instructions seem a bit vague, but I'm sure I'll work it out.

I reckon Practical Classics would instantly be keen on a multi-page article on your Cavalier. All the work you've done looks fantastic, simple as. What are the plans for the interior/back seat - was it sun damaged? And as for the Lambretta, do you still ride it? I spy an SX200 type front disc brake... I bought my 67 SX150 eight years ago, had some fun with it, then left it in the garage with a cover on it. I was toying with the idea of selling it the other day as it deserves to be used. Then Mrs TW suggested it was probably better than money in the bank, and I've owned it for years, unlike everything else I purchase/sell after I get bored.

Yeah, man who does a nut and bolt rebuilt on an entire car stumpted by fitting a pair of mudflaps ;-)

My Toyota of 'much minttyness' has a plastic cuff & softer flap combined screwed to the wing/arch. They appear to be retained by stainless screws... Either through a factory hole or by rigid clamping.

I'm looking to remove them to lather Waxoyl along seam edges & refit.

I bet the screws have a stainless nut on the 'blind side' ;)

Cheers TW! The top of the back seat is sun bleached. As soon as I can get hold of some suitable fabric, plans will be made to re cover all of the seats so it all matches. The Lambretta hasn't been ridden since last Summer as I intended to fettle it last year. The arrival of the Cavalier scuppered that idea as it kind of jumped the queue. This Lambretta has parts from all series 3 models - the frame is Li 150, engine block, forks and bodywork are TV 200, crank and front brake are GP 200, cylinder is SX 200, and it even sports a few series 2 odds and ends. It's a proper bitsa! :)

Well, That was a surprise to find!

I step away from the forum for a few weeks and you go and finish it :D

This car looks stunning, You have done an excellent job and if I were you I would be extremely happy with the finished car!

I could be doing with some of your motivation to get the Applause sorted out, you have certainly shown that lots can be achieved if you put your mind to it and apply yourself :D

Can't wait for your next restoration!

Thank you kindly Chompy! I find it hard to get started, but as soon I get stuck in to a job, I don't ease up until it's done. :)

Bizarrely, I took one look at the instructions that came with the afore mentioned flaps last week and Pffft! Didn't fancy doing it! I'll probably fit them next time the car is at my unit.

It seems to be the law that simple sounding jobs end up being anything but.

This is frigging gorgeous you are a winner

Many thanks Mr. Fordperv! I've certainly felt like a winner whilst out on the road in it this last week! :)

Could I suggest that you have a meet soon with the Barbara Cartland dog, so that we can have the proper before and after pics, we need proof as it now looks like you've just gone out and bought a new car and swapped the plates

I dropped this off at my unit today, the plan is to get started on the bits of flatting and polishing that need doing. The mudflaps will most likely be going on soon too. If the weather forecast for the Bank Holiday weekend is correct, I should get it all done over the weekend!
