Perhaps we could do a similar thing to the loaner Y10...

Buy it for £120, keep it for just long enough to do at least £500 worth of work on,

and then sell it on to the next shiter for £120 who can do the same.

At the end of the year Angyl can buy back a truly concourse Princess for just £120.

Old chod is old chod and you get attached to it and it can slowly take over you life. You just need to restore the Chod/Life balance which will involve juggling and maybe letting go of something just as many others on this forum have long lusted (drunk and on Fleabay) then bought a bargainous black hole which sucks energy, time and money. You know there will be another one/two/three in the future, maybe not as good but maybe even better.

I can't really advise you as my ZX is stuck down the road with200kg of scrap metal in the back(so I can't remove a wheel), Renner van is chained to a moped waiting new owners/gearbox/drive belt respectively, 106 is parked in a Lisbon backstreet near the airport (i hope), AX diessle with super noisy driveshaft was borrowed in 2014 and think it may be on Dartmoor, ZX turbo has two flat tyres at works car park (have to pay for parking), fiesta with broken cam belt awaits scrappy in someone elses driveway. My beautiful Sachs B805 with 2500Km only runs on one cylinder and has done 3km to MOTs in two years.  My solution to it all was buy an MX3 and then a ticket to see a Moreland and Arbuckle concert in St Galen.

The future may be is mopeds.

I can understand all the views on here, but I think that getting shut of all the detritus is the best idea. I had a similar situation with the 205CTi last year, I loved that car but a move of job/house/lifestyle meant that it ended up parked up and deteriorating. I could have kept hold of it, but I knew that i would never get round to it, (and it was in no way shape or form as bad as the two vehicles in question here). So I cut my losses and got rid. Thankfully it went to a 205 nut who's restoring it, but to be honest I wouldn't have felt that guilty for long if it had gone 'elsewhere'.
There comes a time when you just have to decide what's the best for you emotionally & financially. As mentioned earlier in the thread the Princess has, yes been a labour of love, but also a problem child for you. That if in my stable would have been binned off months ago.

The Six, well that is a heavy project even for a seasoned restorer, and given the amount of time, work and money that it needs throwing at it you're going to be fighting that for a long time.

There's some good advice on here, if you can't hide it/them somewhere until some arsedness comes back then it does sound like it is best to get shot.Like many others I have been in this position. Regrets? Yes, but not really, the Mini would have quickly ended up on that halfway house between potential project and scrap fodder, my old 2a I would still have been putting off re-chassing, the 205 needed a full resto as did the Audi coop, etc etc etc.... There's always something else to buy and play with in the future.

At the risk of being blunt (...er than everyone else) it's no good/waste of time blaming other people for telling you that you can't do it, you are a grown man, if you have decided you can't, or you don't want to, it is no fucker else's business.

You don't have to own shite to play the game.

I'm reducing my fleet of rubbish for similar reasons to yours.

Our stuff / toys / cars / money / time are for us to enjoy. If it no longer makes you smile and isn't useful - get rid and don't look back.

I recall being weighed down by a project to the point where I could take no more - even though the project was successfully finished. I realise now it had driven me to the edge of depressive illness.

I gave it away to get rid and the sense of relief was fantastic.

After all, there will always be plenty of rusty chod to choose from.

I stil fancy the Renner but reality bites hard as I can't due to the following:

My back and legs are fucked

I have no real space

I have no way of moving it

I am barely able to summon the mojo for the Amazon which is actually road legal

The R75 is sort of back in the reasonable books and I have spent just over a ton in additional bits to sort it out with the aid of forum folk

The TR7 Toledo remains on the 'to be sold for various reasons' list, even though I am gutted to do it. Just need a buyer

So, we are all stuck in similar positions to varying degrees at varying times.

I still fancy the 6 though. Sigh.

Flog 'em and get summat when you have the money and mojo. Don't sweat it, just do it.

We will still applaud your vehicular choice in the future, especially if you buy my Toledo. That was a hint just in case you hadn't noticed.

Buy it!

Please :)

The way I see it, you've been given a cast iron opportunity to get the Princess roadworthy, and don't want it. This isn't a criticism, it just seems that you don't really want it that much. Either that or you're punishing yourself because you haven't been able to spread yourself thinly enough to get everything done.

Only you know the answer to that. Only you can make the decision.

Whichever way, these are just cars. Your own wellbeing is far more important.

Yaeh, what he said ^^^

Buy the Toledo.

Four pages of opinions is enough pages for me to know what everyone thinks.  It's enough pages for me to know that I'm doing the wrong thing, the right thing and something in between.  It's enough pages to know I gave it my best shot, I should never have tried and that I should persevere.

Here's my opinion:  I'm exhausted.  Both in general and now by this thread.  Either buy my cars or STFU.

FWIW I think if I had the Citroen/Princess offer on the table, I'd be grabbing it.  The two cars must be roughly comparable for daily use, at least on paper, and I know which I'd be driving if I had the choice.  It wouldn't have chevrons on the front!  Having said that, I'm not you, you are.  As has been said earlier, these are your goods, it's your life, in the end you have to make a decision that suits you.  Nobody else matters, for all our advice/opinions.

Whatever you actually do, good luck.

Holidaze is for wimps, real shiters need only the briefest rest on a tarp under a dripping sump.

Bung the pair on ebay and see what happens. No one on here will take the princess on as they all feel guilty as it is YOUR car. The 6 to be honest is not viable there are plenty of Renault lovers about who will say they want it but when it comes to paying actual money or even just collecting it for free they will vanish. If you really want shot then 99p no reserve and you will hopefully get them gone. Sounds harsh I know but that is the reality

Sell them all,and buy a minty allegro.comfortable,BL,good parts supply, and a reasonable number of solid survivors.Enough tinkering to keep you interested, but not so much to loose interest.Or buy my polo lol

Agreed. Renault will fetch more on ebay.too cheap Vulg, will get a good holiday from that

Only to be used when pointing to a particularly shit car.

Punter: "My wife hates me, and has been shagging my brother. I feel like life isn't worth living. What can I do to ease the pain?"

Cavcraft: <points to gold Punto Automatic> "That should help"

I'm generally pretty easy going, but this has pissed me off.

Why field opinions (which, like it or not, this is a forum where opinions are voiced), if you're going to get all shitty?

Best you "STFU" you whining little prick.
