How does the panel compare to the Dolly club ones?

Dunno, never seen a TDC panel in the metal although they are reported to be good. This one covers a lot more arch area though, far better for the repair I'll need to carry out. The other side is half decent, I'll probably get away with drilling out the rivets and re-using the repair panel.

Not a clue. The advert for it said "VIN from X", given my car is an Mk2 from '83 I figured it'd use whatever was used on later cars so I took a gamble.

 

Ze Acclaim is now fixed. Threads are metric fine, so the pipe on the car was perfect, bleeding was easy due to my cheap one-man-bleeding contains/tube thing.

Quick spin around the block with a few emergency stops, all feels good, no signs of leakage or usage of fluid.

 

Now I can enjoy my weekend in the knowledge I'll be coming back to a functioning car to take me to work on Monday.

Awesome news <does happy dance>. Remember to keep the old cylinder as the pistons and seals are perfectly usable. And buy a jubilee clip to replace the cable ties on the mounting bracket before you forget!

Aw shucks, thanks JeeExEll but it was nothing really. Tools and materials were "in stock", I had the evening spare and the good Cap'n was only a short drive away. Anyone prepared to run two old Triumphs from a busy Glasgow street with no money and limited tools deserves all the support we can give. The world needs more people with those levels of resourcefulness and optimism :-)

Not that I wish to take a dump on your brake-fixing triumph, but something caught my eye that might be an issue down the line. I say might as we all know that aftermarket parts catalogues are not infallible and are the motor factor equivalent of the Haynes manual, but...what you have extracted has has "3/4" marked on it, aka 19mm.

 

Well the catalogues that do offer two choices (the ones that only offer one for all years offer the later larger size) say that the early cars up to 12/1982 (< ch.121262) are 17.5mm (11/16"). The later ones from 01/1983 (ch.121263>) are 19.05mm (3/4"). [You can mibbie see what's coming now]

 

That Moprod box has MWC372 on it. A lookup of that number suggests that has a 17.5mm bore. I hope the catalogue was telling lies.

 

No big deal as you're mobile now, which is what counts, but may prove interesting on the rollers come MOT time.

Hmmm, sadly nothing stamped on the new part at all. Not a major job to change it if I need to anyhow, the parts are cheap!

Another excellent video. I’ve been here myself a couple of times prodding at rust and finding I’m having to sweep a good potion of the car away in a dustpan. Really slightly depressing!

Er, yeah. I think the technical term is "fiscally fucked". 

 

I'm hoping the Acclaim passes it's MOT with little in the way of major overhauling needing to take place as the backup car is fucked, and the backup backup car has been fucked for 4 years... While running an old car isn't really much more financially draining than running a modern on finance it doesn't require quite a bit more physical effort, and I can't technically afford run a car at all...

 

The Acclaim did get it's proper wash of 2019 t'other day, with me doing all inside the door shuts and blacking the plastics back up. From a few yards it still looks half decent..

The 1300 has inexplicably burst a fuel line while doing fuck all and has pissed petrol all over the street. The 1850 was moved t'other day and pissed all it's water out of the radiator in retaliation.

The Dolly's an ungrateful little shit for pissing out it's petrol, but at least it didn't happen in heavy traffic or right when you really needed to be somewhere.

How do you secure your camera to the headrest/seat back when doing filming while driving?

Acclaim's looking good. Once warm weather comes it it might be worth recoating undersealed areas.

The Dolly's an ungrateful little shit for pissing out it's petrol, but at least it didn't happen in heavy traffic or right when you really needed to be somewhere.

Nothing of interest has happened of late. Although I did decide to play with some video settings on my camera as I have a few video essay/mini documentaries I fancy filming for which I will need slightly more professional video footage (and a tripod, evidently).

The test footage features shite.
