I would love to see it trundle to the chippy and back, the Chip float FTW

The chips might be a bit cold by the time it got back...

The Guinness world record for the fastest milk float is just short of 85mph...

I have certainly never come across a manual V6 before, the inline 4 cylinder version is often found as a manual though.

My first choice would have been for an Auto for this type of car.

The Sigma Estate 3.0 Auto £21,830, was £880 more expensive than the manual.

In the UK there was a good proportion of people who did not like automatics when I sold new cars, Volvo’s offered a manual option for their top spec 760, Vauxhalls offered the top spec Senator 24v as a manual and Citroen CX Turbo and XM 2.5TD as manual only.

I bought this car to save it so it came as it came. Now there are so few of them in the UK, I believe only one other taxed that finding an Auto would be near on impossible

It is currently sitting on the drive looking at me, now where do I need to go as an excuse to drive it!

In the past that would have been a put the kettle on!

When I used to have a fully expensed company car I sometimes drove 320 miles after work, on a week day for a Triumph meeting.

eat the chips on the go? :) theres probably enough space to chuck a few plastic chairs and the cast iron fire thingy on the back, then you can really have a FoD float on the go

While I thank @hairnet for the offer of tea and cake in Manchester the £75 petrol and 6 hours driving was just a bit too much. However it did prompt me to take the Sigma for a run out. Yes I found a moving canal boat and an elephant!

But this was a grey and red elephant not a "white elephant" as you call it.

Solid car. No excuse needed, just go drive.

Don't forget tonight from 7.30pm is Autosite Zoom.

Don't forget tomorrow from 10am is tea and chat at the FoD.

For joining instruction for Zoom or the address for FoD please pm me.

Just for interest, did you know a few years ago we had a Wolseley 18/85 Auto. We never owned it but the owners had nowhere to keep it so we stored it with usage permission for about a year.

The bonnet on the Herald behind was just perched because the engine was out of it, we still have that Herald.

Looks like better weather than here, it's chucking it down at the moment!

I got 70 miles into the journey last night when I was alerted by a slight burning rubber smell. Pulled into a Pizza Hut car park and smoke was coming from the alternator belt, and sparks coming from the AC compressor clutch bearing. Ordered a pizza (well, might as well seeing as I'm there!), wandered into the nearby Sainsburys to get some spray oil to stop it seizing, and limped back home keeping the revs down.

Nice to catch up with folks, even if it was only a brief visit on my part.  Sadly a pretty extensive to do list at home meant I couldn't stick around.  Looked like I didn't time it badly though given that the heavens opened about 30 seconds after I got through the door at home!  Glad I didn't have to drive through that.

A good turnout for Tea and Chat on the 28th Dec saw the FoD yard filled with interesting cars.

Our best friend the diesel heater did a fine job of making the party tent inside the door less barn a tolerable temperature.

If Talbot gets any older I will have to ban him for being a fire hazard!

This morning was a trip out  in the Sigma to a small local classic car gathering. There was a good turnout considering  waves of light rain.

What do you think of the Renault Fuego?

I think they are one of the most stunning car designs ever.

Soon after launch in January 1981 I tried to buy a new Fuego 2.0 TX but fell out with the dealer over him wanting to charge me £58 for a load cover that I felt should have been included and as it was the new model he would not budge on price.

In 2004 I made my dream come true and bought a silver 1981 Fuego GTS, it was low mileage and in beautiful condition.

Even in 2004 there were not many Fuego’s for sale in the UK so I settled for this 1647cc GTS instead of the 2.0 Ltr I really desired. Disappointed was the word to sum up owning it. This stunning shape was propelled by a low powered engine with dull handling and body roll. When Mrs6C suggested I sell it before it dissolved after 18 months as we were keeping it outside it did not seem such a bad idea.

I agree. After a brief dalliance with a Fiat 128, my Dad switched to Renault for the next 20-odd years - saloon and estate 12s, a 14, 18 and then a flow of 20s and 25s. I always wanted him to get a Fuego but it wasn't deemed practical enough for a family.
