beko1987 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 I quite liked pulling the manta out as it was a scene that could have been reality a few times! Hairy young hooligan bins his manta in a hedge, not too badly but needs a hand out so grabs his mate who has a landrover to get it out before the police see it Snake Charmer, wuvvum, Six-cylinder and 4 others 1 6
wuvvum Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Things you will only see at the FOD, #487: @LightBulbFun and @Inspector Morose sitting side by side on the chassis of a narrow gauge railway locomotive. LightBulbFun, beko1987, Inspector Morose and 1 other 4

Six-cylinder Posted August 22, 2022 Author Posted August 22, 2022 British Rail FoD Lost Property here, anybody claim these? Snake Charmer, richardmorris and chaseracer 2 1
catsinthewelder Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 That'll be mine, will fetch it next time I'm down. Meant to ask but has anybody found a small gas stove at the field? Red paintwork and a Black spur tools sticker but otherwise similar to the one we were boiling the kettle on. Been missing for a bit but can't think where else I might have left it.
Six-cylinder Posted August 22, 2022 Author Posted August 22, 2022 Having considered the knocking noise from the Saab 95 engine I think the only way forward without risking further damage is to take the sump off. Unfortunately the engine has to be removed from the car to achieve that. Therefore our next FoD will focus on taking out the Saab engine and I will set the date depending on the available help with this. I am free 3/4 Sep or 17/18 Sep Can anybody help? Crackers Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Neither weekend, I'm afraid. Not that I'd be much use anyway! Six-cylinder 1
AnthonyG Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Should be about on the 17th/18th, can’t do the earlier date though.
bobdisk Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Not sure, but I will try for one or other, (or both !!)

wuvvum Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 If you're going to hoik the engine out you might as well take advantage of the opportunity and drop a 2.3 Cologne V6 in there instead... brownnova, Six-cylinder, mat_the_cat and 1 other 1 3
richardmorris Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 I May be available but probably of no actual help. Six-cylinder 1

wuvvum Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 I drove a two-stroke 95 once. It was absolutely hilarious and the noise it made was amazing. Six-cylinder and NigeT 2

Six-cylinder Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Those who have seen my Trevi will be amazed that such a shabby car won a prize tonight! I went to a small local show at a pub and the Landlord awarded the Trevi the runner up prize of the car he liked best. The prize was a bottle of wine. mat_the_cat Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 I had the pleasure of driving it a short distance at the weekend, and agree with you there. It felt like it would be a nice A road cruiser (albeit an opinion based on 2 miles driving!). Surprisingly comfortable, and more wafty than I'd have expected. Thanks for the opportunity @Six-cylinder, and the hospitality at the weekend. I was a bit unsure how well the whole thing would go down with my better half, but she even enjoyed her first experience of slating a roof! Not certain about possible September dates yet, but the later date more likely to be a goer. wuvvum, Shite Ron, Six-cylinder and 2 others 5

I tried to convince Mrs N that The Greyhound would be a nice place for dinner last night, unfortunately she remembered us going for lunch there some years ago and Pooh-poohed the idea. It looks a bit nicer than then and just, the fact they have wine means it must have gone a bit upmarket. Im sure there was a Mk3 Granny outside then ( it could have been mine) Six-cylinder 1
Six-cylinder Posted August 26, 2022 Author Posted August 26, 2022 Not a good day! Today @Slowsilver helped me take my BMW E36 328i Msport Coupe to a local garage for brake repair and MOT. I got a call this evening to say it would need extensive rust repairs he was not willing to undertake. Coprolalia, wuvvum, catsinthewelder and 8 others 1 10
Six-cylinder Posted August 27, 2022 Author Posted August 27, 2022 Next FoD 17/18 September The aim will be to lift the Saab engine out ready for inspection. Full FoD weekend with camping welcome. This could be your last chance this year! It seems few can make 3/4 September however Slowsilver has volunteered to come over and start removing the bonnet and auxiliary bits from the Saab ready for the engine lift. If you fancy coming over to help or observe you will be welcome just pm me for a time. If you wish to camp that is no problem. richardmorris, LightBulbFun, mat_the_cat and 1 other 4
