Y plate Sierra Ghia. A little prang.

Trigger has suggested I make a thread on this, so here goes.

Less than 48 hours after signing up to AS I have found myself purchasing this Y plate 2.0 Sierra Ghia sight unseen -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-SIERRA-GHIA-AUTO-2-0-1983-/321286886487?

As soon as I saw it pop on the eBay Tat thread it just felt like fate, like it was meant to be. 'Best Offer', eh? How cheeky could I be? £500? Why not. I was sure someone else would snap it up - but no! A counter offer of £550! It would be rude not too ...

Full disclosure - I have never bought a car off of eBay and if I'm honest I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. I haven't had any other contact from the seller so far. Maybe it's just because tomorrow is Wednesday and he's out getting celebrating.

Updates to follow soon. Hopefully.

I am on my 64th Sierra. Mk1 Ghias are the bollocks. Best seat in the house.

Wowsers! Impressive autoshite debut :)

Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it.

Is that the one on the eBay tat thread? It was a bargain at the asking price, the fact you got some more off is brilliant. Well bought sir, that's a lovely car and no mistaking.

One previous owner and 148k miles, I think someone enjoyed driving it.

It looked good in the pics, lets hope it is in the metal as well, fingers crossed for you.

Obviously I'm biased, but what a great buy!!!

Have you far to go to collect it? Looking fwd to the collection thread

You just know a certain shitter is going to pop into this thread sooner or later.

That looks excellent, I had a y reg 2.0 automatic lovingly known as the spacamatic by my mate's it was loads of fun but was a true shit motor that was virtually indestructible, Can't wait to see more pictures of yours

Albert ross, I bow down to the number of sierras you have owned, I wonder if stixy has had more or less than you? I have only had 23 and still have 2 of those, I must try harder lol

Back of the net! That's superb. Well played.

That car is a good reason to go to Darlo. And there are not many left.

Sierras OR reasons to go to Darlington.

That sounds like a decent, original car from the description, and a good price too. I hope you enjoy it, I want another as they is gr9 motors!

Looks a fantastic buy and a very rare car especially on a Y reg.. It' looks so futuristic in a 80s retro sort of way also don't worry about buying off good old eBay it's only selling you really have to worry about..

It's not quite shite enough in my opinion as your lording it up in Ghia spec with the posh front grill and big headlight look and you get the little pic of a Sierra on the dash that lights up when you leave the doors open so you know your a cut above the 80s rep with a Ghia

Also I think it's the good old Ford Diamond White so there isn't an easier colour to match if you need to do an invisible rattle can repair on any small areas of rust to get her back in ship shape condition..

I hope you've brought along a good selection of New romantic cassettes to play on the drive home so you can pretend your living the 80s dream..

Wow  Top buy.

Those velour seats get me all hot and bothered.

I do love to see someone happy with his purchase.  Automatch.com ;-)

OH YES.  Never been in an early Sierra Ghia - are those seats as comfy as they look?

Posted

They are supremely comfortable. Far nicer than a Mk2 seat. Also, no tunnel lump to get in the way. (Unless a 4x4 shell)

Oh yes, I've come across some right mentalists/borderline psychopaths over the years as a seller.

Good call on the tapes - will start scouring charity shops forthwith!

40ish miles as the crow flies but only about 25 minutes and £8 on the train from next town over. Speaking of which had contact from the seller telling me it's fine to collect Saturday but just waiting to hear back on what time is best for him so that I don't turn up banging on his door at 5am with a Lidl shopping bag of crumpled fivers.

And in further developments, look what I found on the interwebz ...

Seems he has come down more than a £100!
