That Calibra is a heap of SHIT and anyone stupid enough to even think of paying paper money for is a retard!!!

I'd pay 50p in loose change just to give it a good booting outside his house.

My good god that calibra is hideous . Looks like a sunburnt Jimmy Hill

Liberace shite!

I have no idea what these actually fetch but i'd say anything over 10k and you would be doing well.

Just something about that car. I dunno what it is, but it's just not right if you ask me.

Yes: £18000 asking price on a 1600 Capri.

I'd honestly suggest it's not that far off. They were quite sought after and (I'm reliably told) a right laugh to own/drive. Popular (well, as popular as an old Citroen can be) hot hatches are usually the first things to start rocketing in value.

Blimey, and I thought I overpaid for my Capri in Cyprus!

It's not the first one I've seen in that price range, even the poverty ones are fun to chuck about so a GTi in good fettle should be superb.

Your probably right but it still seems a lot of money for a little french box, mind you look at the money that R5 GTT's are now making.

£11500 for this Alfa and the seller talks even more guff than The_Doctor, it's almost coma inducing.

I've just read this and indeed found it very sleepworthy indeed.

I'm pretty sure it's the condensed version as you can imagine the full description is something like....

...on 6th February 1988, the Alfa drove the 20 mile journey to Heathrow Airport, without any mishap or hint of lack of performance, in order for the owner to embark on a Boeing 747 aeroplane, registration G-FAAF en-route to Thailand to undergo a fact-finding mission. The pilot of the plane was a Mr. Charles Fairweather who was married with two children. On the owner's return to the United Kingdom, he returned to the Alfa and it started on the first turn of the key, as any car USUALLY FUCKING DOES.

And the AX is better built than the Cinq. You read that right...

The AX GT is the most insane of all the 80's hatches. it weighed as much as a toothbrush and had blistering performance and mad handling. Rare as rocking horse poo and in the condition that one is I'm not surprised at the price tag at all.

It gets even worse than that, Trigger.

Please dont think WOW twenty odd grand for a Mini!. think what you get for £20k and how most things go down, whereas minis are on the up? £22,995

The implication being what? That you pay 23 grand for a mini and it will then appreciate in value? Like next year it's going to be worth 25 grand or something?

We've had plenty of vendors in this thread who seem rather divorced from reality - but this one is in a different league.

My aunt had one just like that (even the same colour), if I knew it would be worth that now I'd have talked her out of selling it!

Has that white 405 completely disappeared? Not seen it posted on here recently and I can't be bothered searching for it on ebay.

I do like these, especially in TD flavour...but seriously, 163k on the clock and 2 grand?

£1200 tops -

it's a nice one though - auto TD

mind you they are death traps when driven into a modern renner! too risky by half :death:

There's another 940 TD auto estate on eBay for £600 - they aren't worth much, the diesel engines have an unjustified poor reputation. They are incredibly noisy and quite thirsty though, a bit shit unless you like old diesels.

I've owned a couple and absolutely love them. There have been plenty of instances of heads cracking on the d24 engine, its vital to let it warm before ragging it and essential to keep it properly maintained. They don't last like a red block so on any volvo so fitted higher mileage IS more of a concern (to me anyway)

Performance is actually pretty brisk, mid range acceleration in particular is still impressive, but as you say they won't do much more than about 40 mpg or so. BUT they'll do it on veg oil.

Some jobs are horrible on them, timing belts (2 of) and rear 2 glowplugs.

Yes I like old diesels. I have sort of been semi seriously looking for a 740/940 td for ages. without fail everything that comes up for sale is stupidly overpriced or has space shuttle mileage/is knackered/ is 600 miles away

Did those tightwads at Ford fit drum brakes on the back of xr4i's?

Or is that white one a lash up
