Has anyone every done any of the off road training courses that they'd recommend? Or know of any good off road course type things near the Midlands? A few chaps at work are looking to get back into bikes and fancy a bit of off road riding

I did a Motocross day somewhere near Stafford, probably about 2018.  I didn't do any of the booking as I was a last minute replacement for someone who couldn't make it.  We'd all ridden to some extent before but I hadn't really ridden for 10+ years and generally on the road.  By the end of the day the 3 of us were all hooning round the (probably fairly tame) MX track.

I think it was a KTM thing,  just been hunting round on Google maps and I think it was here.

Was about £140 each in 2018 money but they had really good quality kit and bikes.

Probably this lot

£199

Minor update to mine is that I fitted a new screen, to replace the double bubble previously fitted. I went for the MRA touring screen, which looks a lot better IMO but still more functional than the original shape!

I then promptly headed off to the Dragon Rally in mid Feb, for the first time in 15 years!

Predictably it rained heavily, but I managed to park on some hard standing and avoid the mud bath. I reckon I do need to replace the starter clutch, and investigate the clutch slip under hard acceleration. Fortunately @Stinkwheel supplied all the necessary bits with the bike, so should be a free repair :-)

No photo but I changed the double bubble screen on my vfr750 at the weekend as well 😂 went back to standard just purely for the looks but not ridden with it changed yet

Dave Thorpe has a school in Taunton.

Mick Extance has one not too far from Bala. It's easy to get to off the A5.

Sweet lamb in mid Wales has training days run by different people. Nathan Millward beeen one.

Inch perfect trials have group riding training days as well.

Unfortunately you need to bring your own bike, I don't think they'd be amused if I turned up on the fake plastic Harley!

We absolutely have to organise an AS group thing for this and all turn up on random old shitboxes.

If any of you like cycling as well take your bikes and ride Revs and make a weekend of it.

I've really noticed the prices of British stuff going down. My dad had a 1927 BSA side valve flat tank in the early 90's which he had to sell to free up some cash.
He always says how much he wished he had kept it and what it would be worth now.
I had a look on eBay a week or two back and there was a similar bike for about £4K which isn't much more than my Dad sold his for in 1993
Diminishing buyers , average of biker now is in the 50's , very few left with the skills to tinker and the remainder are not interested . Old bikes have crap handling & brakes , period , so they are really eye candy .

Oh I know.

I'm in my late forties and remember being a teenager and seeing things like Velocette Venoms and 500 Goldstars commanding huge (for the time) sums.

I also remember turning down a rough but original 350LC for £500 in 1996.

I guess it just made me a bit philosophical about the "value" of things. Theres going to be a glut of British stuff hitting the market for £not much, just as you probably won't be able to give away 350LC's & RGV250's in twenty years time.

I've got old without realising it...

Frigging hell, can one of my vehicles just work please?

Getting a decent stator and regulator seems to be a minimum £300 undertaking, so that's good, isn't it?

Not pictured - the connector from the stator to the R/R was chock full of greasy crap. Cleaned it out, and now it doesn't charge at all

I made it worse

I put an Ebay stator and reg/reg on my Tiger 1050. Both were less than £100 all in, including a gasket. Did 3500 miles to the Alps and back the week after , and still spot on now.

People have said that about Fizzies for the last 5 or 6 years at least. They're a decade older than the LCs and still going strong. It'll be a while before those Yams and the likes of RGs etc will be dropping in price, imho, unless there's a recession.

Without putting an actual figure, I will just say, that fizzie sold for more then i paid for this,

image.jpeg.e6e3496c7c637b9e35082f1ee0066289.jpeg

Which is just mental, i mean fizzie for 3600 that needs loads doing or a TZR250 that rides for less?

New rain blanket added and yes it pissed down today and I stayed pretty dry with just my suit trousers on, thank you!

It is crazy the money that Fizzy made, but it proves there's still life in that market.  You can of course get much bigger/newer/faster machines for the coin, and you could probably get a fully restored one for much less than that one will end up costing, but that's not the point.

Anyway, for absolutely no sane reason at all,  I bought this today...

No photo description available.

If you're waiting for the rest of it, there isn't any.
