The FS1 is back! Athena kit has been fitted and there were 2 main jets a 160 and a 175.  Standard (it seems) is 150, the 175 was too much so he put the 160 in and said to try it. It's pulling bloody brilliantly once higher in the revs, but bogging down under load in 1st and a bit in 2nd, so going to get a 150 and try that. It was massively better than the last barrel/piston, all that really achieved was to be great in 3rd, but nothing noticeable in the other gears. This seems to pull lots better in all gears (even first if you ride through the clag) and it actually sound meaty, or at least as meaty as one of these is likely to.

The oil pump has been blanked off and it's running on pre-mix,  the state of the last piston and the advice of others suggests this was the best way. Assuming it all works ok once re-jetted, it'll be interesting to see what top speed it'll do. Might play with the sprockets, but don't want to lose too much acceleration as it'll spend more time pissing about round the doors, rather than flat out in top everywhere.

Oh yeah, the Allspeed might be taken off and a better pipe sourced.

I know the allspeed was never rated as a power pipe even back in the day, but what’s available these days that would count as a better pipe for them? Higgspeed just seem to be loud and similar to allspeed. Does Mick Abbey make pipes for fizzies?

I think Abbey makes them to your tune.  Ironically, he's close to where it was last done and they did a rolling road. I just couldn't afford the tune and the pipe at the same time, and I certainly CBA sending it back up that way again. There is someone in the Midlands (?) who also does them and there's another one again that has just come onto the market. It's the latter I'm looking into, supposedly they're designed to actually help rather than look/sound good only.

Sounds promising. I miss the thrill of 50cc days. It was amazing riding a bike when you were that age, learning what you can and cannot get away with 😂

I rode the busa today. New throttle cables have transformed the bike.

You wouldn't think two cables would make such a difference.

The sun was shining this morning, so I gave the Viffer a clean and went for a ride. It really does look presentable, at least from a short distance.

Good ride out, apart from almost getting reversed into TWICE! First one I didn't even manage to sound the horn, but fortunately heard my shout of WHOAH (visor up) and stopped.

so the bum my tree was early and the first announcment was we leave on time but will arrive at 1130 when normally its 3.5 hours not 4

spoke to the staff about that cos needed to let b and b know (and even being early)

they said yes it doesnt take that unless its broke/moving shiitas for @Dave_Q etc

hes announced it like that previous they said

they called us at 1030 and was off the boat (one deck lounge had maybe 15 people in it all crossing - people were walking about and kept seeing the same people doing laps :D )

and even  tho told the b and b at 1900 that might be late

got here before 11 and he was like oh wasnt expecting you (even tho id messaged them 4 times in 3 hours)

id larf if me back wasnt hurting - they were 20 quid more than the premier inn 15 miles away

worth it not to do it in the dark

im on holiday fuck it :D

Remember I said the Beneli was not coming out to play until we had a decent salt cleaning bit of rain? Well it had to on Monday as it was across to Tom Adamson in Elgin for a service, I also asked them to balance both wheels as I felt it wasn't quite right. Turns out I was right, the weights weren't far off but not on the correct area of the wheel, the bike is far smoother now.

Interestingly their reader, presumably importer supplied, could not connect to the Asian spec ECU I bought online from Uncle Wang (not my real uncle!). This despite both being Bosch and indistinguishable visually. Tom's mechanic road tested the bike and agreed the ECU removed the hunting and overly sensitive throttle at lower revs, towns are less of a chore now.

The bike was white with salt dust by the time I got home but thankfully we nearly had sun and a drying wind so I was able to give it a good rinse.

For want of the asking I could do a bit of this.

Lecky moto in the style of the EZ90.

IMG_0774.jpeg.6591fddcdc18b77bd8259431e43ae9bc.jpeg

Looks like the stated range wouldn't quite get me to work. Still want one.

https://www.felomoto.it/en/19-40-electric-scooter-felo-fw-03.html#/27-colors-white_red_blue/29-recharge-standard

I like the look of it, mind you I liked the EZ90. Bet they are hard to find now so this would be a great alternative, shame about the range

Would you need a head like this though?

If you're still round there on your hair dryer, try Llanidloes to Machynlleth via Llyn Clywedog

First ride of the year for the bike's MoT. Trust me to pick the worst day weather wise!

Slight bit of drag on the front brake from being laid up so fingers crossed.

Oh yeah, get a modern bike because it'll be reliable:  Put the nicely charged battery back on the Massey Davidson (and what a shit job that is) and now the stupid bastard won't start. Looks like it's immobilisor related, have left it for a few days until I CBA again.

Pass with no advisories, so I'm a happy bunny. 6 junctions down the M1 and the return journey left the bike filthy. I couldn't just leave it like that so have just given it a quick wash in the dark before putting it to bed 🤩

It now gives me a few days to decide if I sell it or tax it for 6 months at the start of April.

I love the bike, but unless I pop the proper pain killers I'm limited to an absolute max of 30 miles before the hips give out. Even with painkillers I don't think I could do more than a four hour window.

Should have stuck to shit plastic Harleys 😛

My time in the gym means my alpinestars trousers no longer fit me - in fact I look like Nora Batty.

I got these off marketplace  -

Never worn and with the tags. £125. I soon established that they really had never been used when I tried them on.

Twistier the better for me, not a fan of blasting down boring straight roads. Risky for yer licence too.   I’m not far from those roads this week so might get to try them although more than likely my mate Charlie has taken me down them before.

Yesterday was replacing a missing bolt and tightening up one of the seat retaining ones and (yet again) the cheap replica indicators.

Today managed to put the 150 main jet to replace the 160, and it's loads better. It's a bit shit in 1st (really boggy) but got better when warmed up. Now putting it into 4th isn't like turning the engine off as it was before, plus it's pulling brilliantly through the gears. Not had it flat out in top yet, but the way it accelerates through the gears makes it seem like a bigger engine than it actually has.

I'll try and load a video when I can remember how.

My old stomping ground! Llyn Clywedog is the reservoir on that road, nice circular route of it can be incorporated with the Dylife mountain road.IMG_20220924_160851469_HDR.jpg.d88ee9056ce3734e7d1b302316ffc7a8.jpgIMG_20240630_143557757_HDR.jpg.77891f959891be0550bb4ca8f0ab44b2.jpgIMG_20230507_135912449_HDR.jpg.2c2f8f9b2a0a6a3221461cac40fa902e.jpgIMG_20220924_154129089_HDR.jpg.b5e37246b11682c9b84def74f2af8b20.jpg

A few days ago I fitted a new set of friction and steel clutch discs to the Suzuki. Pretty simple really, especially compared to car clutches which I've done before!

I discovered a few oddities though. The basket has score marks on the outside but definitely isn't binding on anything now, and the pressure plate looks like someone tried to lighten it in a lathe, but surely that wouldn't help much?

Also, I accept that the SR250 is worth whatever someone's willing to pay for it, so it's now a live auction on eBay. Here if anyone is curious! I'll let you all into a secret, the reserve is £800. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/227272273426

Hello

A friend has offered me a 1st gen Fazer for a bag of sand. Low miles, well looked after, aftermarket zorst which is not ideal and only fault being the fuel level indicator not working.

Steal? Anything to look for on these? Feels like a bargain to me getting something without millions of daft mods. Two cylinders if prefer, but you can't have everything you want.

Ok looking at the photos again it is semi molested but not too bad...IMG_4114.jpeg.069aa3ee34505ab4cb694615d7359a16.jpeg

@willswitchengage these things go forever, mileage doesn't seem to matter if they've been serviced, however there is an exup valve which can stick, try and make sure that opens and closes ok
