Imagine you’ve been offered a 42,000 mile 2010 Triumph Tiger 1050 from a nice person for £1500. It’s been outside unused for a couple of years and has got surface corrosion and stuff. What do you say?

I'd have said, how about a grand 😆

Last ride of freedom before getting hitched tomorrow .
Loving this bike . I’ve never ridden a bike so relaxing to ride .Gonna call it the Honda Spa Day .Rear suspension seems a bit lacking but I can’t decide if it’s that or a particularly squishy seat ! I’m used to having to upgrade bike suspension being a fat chuffer .

Nice. Always thought they'd be decent and like the colour too. Good eve for it. Is it rally spec who do a fuckton of bits for these? Just saying like as i know you like the middy stuff. Congrats on the wedding hope you have a great day.

New ride just returned home. Its slow as fuck and not one for the open road. This may be a good thing as i'm a dick and have a speed awareness course tomorrow. Handles sweet and enjoying ringing its neck on the twisties. Took in a lane or two on way back too. It needs a bit of work to get it how i want it but i'm a happy man. Been on borrowed road bikes for too long was defo worth all the extra hours/scrimping and saving.

I need to try a himi . I reckon it would just be a tad slow as my main road bike . The 500 is an adjustment after the Thundercat 😂

Nice. I really love mine and for what I want at the moment its perfect. It goes anywhere, cheap to buy, cheap parts, reliable, easy to service, can put loads of luggage on it, fast enough to still be fun and mine even averages around 85mpg so a decent saving when I am doing 60 miles a day.

The only thing about them is overtaking can be a bit annoying but otherwise they are great everywhere.

@twosmoke300you really need to try one as you would have a good back to back opinion from your CB. I coincidentally saw another green one in real life the same you posted yours and I had never seen one before.

This is the problem i have with them, having been riding bikes for about errr, checks calendar, 30 years <gulp> by now im used to a certain level of performance, even from my CB400N superdream and RD125LC. I rode a friends one of these, they really arent good enough at the top end. Overtaking is a hit or miss affair.

I first encountered the ' this bike isnt fast enough' situation when i had a BMW F650 funduro as a long term loaner from where i used to work (this was when they were new in 1996 ish) and since then, the things that just dont get up and past things as well as other bikes, i just cant get on with.

And with direct regard to the enfield, there isnt much reason for this, other manufacturers get more performance from their similar size singles.

Moan Over, apart from that, i think they are a nice bike

*EDIT* - as an extra thought, to put in perspective, my dads 1954 Velocette MAC 350 feels about the same sort of speed/power as a himi.

They still overtake it just takes a bit longer. To be honest I am not bothered about overtaking every car I encounter on the road anyway so it's not an issue. Also so many wankers on my route on bikes overtaking last minute I see it as a good thing as it removes some temptation.

With added power comes reduced efficiency so I am not complaining with regards to that.

I totally agree its horses for courses, also agree about the wankers on bikes being a problem. Going back to the point earlier of 30 years riding, one thing i can say for sure is that the number of  'motorcyclists' & 'bikers' have decreased but the number of 'dickheads'  has increased, so much like car drivers in that respect unfortunately

Any fool can ride fast on a fast bike. It takes skill, determination, bravery and experience and optimism to ride fast on a slow bike.

This is true and why i enjoy riding the 125 and 200 cc RD's i have the most  (just to grind an axe, even the 125 is as quick as a himi 😉)

There is a great deal to be said for smaller, lighter bikes - great fun. I enjoy the sons 125 as much as my 650. But smaller, lighter power in a bigger, heavier bike? I'd have to try it out, but it sounds like all the downsides to be honest.

But, each to their own and as long as the machine does what you want that's all that matters.

How come you harbor so much hate towards them?

I wanted one for ages, did loads of research. I kept seeing all the comments of people online saying how slow they were but these were usually not he owners of bikes, but all the owners of them saying they were fine.

Managed to test ride one and straight away I was more than happy how quick it was. Now I don't do a lot of motorway, and I had a few years prior riding a 175 bantam, TS185 and RT360. I have my classic MX bikes as well so I am not dull to the sensation of a quicker bike. It has just never struck me as a bike that was so uselessly slow that it was unusable/not fun.

I don't hate them, i don't particularly like them but hate is'nt the right word. I rode a friends, I did'nt like the performance as i feel a bike sold today should have better performance than something comparable in capacity sold in the 50's. I do like to play devils advocate when posting, its just an amusement of self thing.

It is though after all, horses for courses, as you say, if it suits the roads you use, thats perfect. I think they look and ride fine, if a bit slower than ideal for me personally, I dont mean to knock anyones choices.

I have spent many years using 'slower than normal' cars and never had any issues, its just not what i look for in a bike

Love the quick as a himi phrase its one you won't hear a lot.

Pulled away on mine after handing over the cash and did a crazy burnout which then hooked up and i flipped it straight over the top of my head and into the neighbours garden. Oh no sorry i got that wrong.  I bimbled away respectfully not wanting to look a cunt in-front office f the very nice chap i bought it off. Rode it down some wiggles to Southend to see the sea before heading home. Felt nice handles alright especially for something running a 21 front though defo no hold on and pray to the gods of luck and karma machine.

Left Southend and had a lovely ride along the front (Essex Riviera). Shits got cameras all over it these days which meant the chavs behind me had to hold back and didn't ruin my relaxed ride watching the sunset over the sea/fake titted orange slappers. It felt the perfect bike for this and I was loving life.

I then hit the A13. It is in my humble opinion comically slow. I'd have laughed if i wasn't half crying into my helmet thinking wtf have I done.

For context my most recent bikes have been an r6 and a gs1100 bm with a history of all sorts form stolen mopeds to litre plus sports bikes.

Its an adjustment for sure. I can overtake fine though this is limited to lorrys/timid drivers/those who are pissed/stoned and being over cautious.

The highway was boring as fuck. It always is though. Again in my humble opinion its only fun on a bike if your pillion is giving you a hand job on a sunny day riding through mid France or your cutting lanes way over a ton. I am a risk taking twat and will ring the neck of a bike because I feel thats what they are for, cars too. Gave up sports bikes because of this and bought a cg125. Rode it on the stop everywhere. Never felt safe.

And for me thats the thing. These do. the extra torque and the weight brings confidence and ill say again they handle alright plus comfy enough for a big fucker too. suspenders need a bit of work but apart from my tdr and the r6 i've felt that about every bike i've owned. I like beer, and pies.

The fact ill trouble my license only in the 20 and 30 zones is a plus. The other fact that they look cool/are cheap more helps too.

Done less than a 200 miles so far. Shall let you know how it goes though first thoughts are I like it and can/should adjust.

See me in the hedge soon after i've overcooked it on scram hoops and ex race bike rubber going round the inside/outside of crutch rockets in the tight stuff. Love that shit.

They do a lumpy cam. I have an open pipe. SoMe cretin has already drilled my airbox.B56FE53F-1923-455A-9408-3D90D6F33FC1.thumb.jpeg.1acb018401429a5c3e3980257026552f.jpeg

I've owned all of them at some point, the FZS1000 ( I had 3) was the best in my opinion but there is nothing wrong with any of them, I'd buy the best condition one of any of them you can find which has had recent consumables as they are big heavy bikes and eat tyres and chains.

The FJR has the best weather protection, the blackbird is the best built and the FZS was the most fun, £2k should get you a reasonable example but be very choosy as they are all knocking on 20 years old for the earliest.

Shit. The lot if them. What you want mate is a 2018 Himalayan. Or my r6.

I jest. From what you've mentioned neither would do. 2 k should snag a nice one of the three which are all good bikes. For me it would be the bird 🦅

Whats best for you is entirely personal preference. I like my bikes upright these days as age and injuries dictate that it's comfortable though mostly as i get a better view of the road and have to back off less.

Running loads better now, so adjusted the front brake (which is still crap, just slightly less so) tightened up the rear light unit and mucked about with a couple of things. It managed to pull 45 in 2nd (of 3) which was quite an achievement, but it's not made for flat out riding.  Think it's time to put the old Vespa PX screen on it so it's more useable in crap weather.

Bugger.

Coming down cats and dogs and not really dressed for that! Got some tasty sausages so will dry up and fry up once in.

Was just about to buy some bin bags and make a poncho though saw a break in the clouds and went for it. Need to sort some bags out to carry stuff about. Am skint so will see what i can find around the flat and fasten onto the front frame.

Feeling fat and satisfied.
