Went out on the Hyosung first thing this morning for 60-miler.

Changed the spark plugs the other evening and put an OEM end-can on [the thing it came with was ridiculously loud and even a db-killer had no effect].

Really enjoy riding it, it's got decent handling and is very sure on the B-roads up to Abergavenny. A lot of bike for £2000. The oem can allows the nice tones of the v-twin to be heard, but not deafen everyone within a 2 mile radius.

@808 Estate that is a handsome specimen and not a marque I had heard of (O.D. - which stands for Ostner Dresden).  The tank badge confused me for a while because it looked similar to that of an Indian. The front mounted muffler also threw me until I found other photos showing different views of the same bike. Nice one.

Well, I went to work on the Zero for the first time last week. Dry, but cold (7°C) and very windy - two factors which will affect the range. I took the shortest possible route (86 miles round trip) which covers all types of roads; I went at a steady pace, but not slow. So did I make it there and back, or did I have to push it for the last x miles?

Spoiler

Yes I blinkin' well did make it, with 34 miles range and 31% of the battery to spare. Which was nice. Warmer, calmer weather will increase the range and I can then take my favourite route, about 95 miles round trip, with ease.

The longer trip did reveal one characteristic which should have been obvious - it is so calm and smooth. Every previous motorbike I've owned has a 'sweet spot' where the right combination of speed and gear allows it to glide along serenely - unfortunately this often falls at an inappropriate speed, the opposite often occurs at say 60mph when one gear is too low, the next too high leading to unnecessary noise and vibration or labouring  just at the point when you don't need it. The Zero is calm and serene and will happily run along at whatever speed you want and then accelerate to the next without fuss.

I'll have to meddle with the suspension adjustments though as it's comfortable enough on faster roads but can be a bit harsh over the appalling urban roads we suffer from nowadays.

Sold my TMax, does anyone happen to know of a 2-stroke 125/180 Gilera Runner project stashed away anywhere?

Hoping one of them will be tunable to somewhere close to the TMax on speed but will be able to fit in the house and not get stolen.

My son has now completed 1000 very enjoyable, trouble free miles on the BSA with a trip over to On Yer Bike  and Nether Winchendon today.  Nice Suzuki triple two stroke was also visiting OYB.

After a brief high of 24, the Aprilia, a LexMoto and the BSA departed for pastures new, leaving (obvs) just 21. Time to even that up again, this evening...

Natch it's a shit one. By email it's just packed up, he hadn't tried to get it going and nobody had looked at it. When I got there it transpires the AA came out and said they think it's low on compression. It does still turn over, but it sounds like a car when the cam belt has snapped. There was some  compression trying to bump start it though, which was a bit weird.

Bloody nice looking little bikes these, imho.

Got out on my GSX-S1000 - From home to Stamford, then Grantham onto Lincoln with a good 90 minute lunch stop and walk up to the old quarter/castle/cathedral, onto Matlock Bath [rammed as expected] and back home. Just the final part on the motorway. About 420 miles, mostly on trunk roads. A decent bank holiday blast.

I picked up a nail yesterday - a clout - luckily for me my rear tyre is worn out so not really an issue.

Hard to judge, but could that be repaired with a shroom or with some strings?

Have had good results with both. Have also chucked tubes in hopeless tubeless tyres too. And put bigger screws in to replace the one that punctured. Wouldn’t say the fact it worked made it a great idea though a fix is a fix if it holds All the strings I’ve put in have lasted the life of the tyre.

No, it's a big gash that looks like it's been scooped out with  a knife.  Cords showing but no loss of pressure. Euro tour next month so new tyre needed, £165 less for my holiday 😌.

People seem to rave about these Road 5s, but lm not convinced...

*plans are subject to change... weather and funds dependent .

Fife to Newhaven in 1 hit. Kip on Ferry then off at Dieppe. Head towards Luxembourg, over to Rügen, into Poland and ride down through Poland, through Czech, across past Lake Constance, Vosges, then Dieppe, Newhaven and home. 10 days. Camping as cheap as possible, if I find somewhere I like I'll have a couple of days, otherwise 3- 500 miles a day.

Want to see the Nazi holiday camp on Rügen, the glass factory in Dresden, maybe pop past family in Visselhovede, the eagles nest in berechtsgaden, ride the roads in the Vosges.. who knows.

Spotted this a Poole bike night yesterday, not my cup of tea but the detailing is impressive in the metal.

I did a bike trip in that neck of the woods a few years ago. You can camp on the lawn of the Nazi holiday gaff, when I went they did a deal that included dinner and breakfast which was pretty cheap all in. Grub wasn't anything to write home about, but what can you do! Depending on your route, I quite liked Gdansk - might be worth a stop while you're in that vague neck of the woods.

Sounds interesting! seemingly theres a small car museum there now too. Would love to see the submarine theyre putting in the Speyer museum too. I've been to Gdansk before, visited in 2012 ,and stayed with family in Nowe, not too far away.

Have actually ridden one of these. Many Years ago (about 25) the bike shop i worked for had 'an evening with Phil Read' as he was still alive back then and still talking anyone who would listens ear off about how he was better than ago and hailwood etc and it was all down to him that yamahas did so well with 2 strokes etc etc, anyway, there were also a number of interesting MV's and the like about, as well as Foggys TT OwO1, which i also had a little go on.

The noise those MV fours make is purely magical and will make hair stand up on the neck (if they dont, check your pulse for alive-ness)

Make sure you do the Black Forest if you are going to Vosges. They complement each other really well. Ive done AM in the Vosges (Ballon Route - I always stop and take a walk around the GB), lunch in Breisach and PM around Todtnau and the Feldberg

Been many times, love Triberg and cuckoo clocks! Cops are proper clamping down on bikes there though, especially the B500. I've got my quiet pipe on. Vosges was empty and better surfaced so gonna stay at Camping Labroche again, loved it last year.Screenshot_20230504_180650_Facebook.thumb.jpg.7e9ddedea26b6745b6d013434eb150b8.jpg

I didnt bother with the B500 last summer - it's jumped the shark.

The other roads [including other parallel north-south routes] are not on krautplod's radar and are less trafficked generally.

I might go down in a few weeks, but it'll be lastminute.com if I do. I like to base myself in Freiburg, but might try Munster [love the cheese] or one of the roads out of Colmar.
