Doing a bit of detail work on the new Mini casting, wasn't happy with the wheels but they're I think the second smallest size Mattel do, and seem to be available as those disc ones, 3 spokes or 5 spokes, that's it. Best looking ones I could find were on the Custom Civic, so that came apart

PXL_20251205_153655482.MACRO_FOCUS.jpg.8178a9b80867372b8ee818f480f09a0b.jpg

Which reveled another hidden secret, RC car on the back shelf

PXL_20251205_155353592.jpg.19ab0ff648ba8db7846e62e1b0d1c7d6.jpg

Mini interior got absolutely pointless detail you can't see once it's together

And so

Might checker the roof? Mabe

Mini looks great. I like a bit of extra interior detail/paint, even if you can’t see it that much. A full interior re-colour always makes a big difference too.

What do you do with all the vehicles you take to bits for the wheels and parts?

Picked this wheel-less Corgi juniors Batmobile up last Saturday at the market.

Felt sorry for it.

Decided to get Metallic Grey rather than black, some red sharpie details and a coat of clear later we have this.

You like Adam West as Bat man Smoll Eddy?

"Think I need an Eartha Kitt M8"

(Oh yeah, the Bat antenna is a result of drilling though the casting🙄)

Horrid day.

IMG_20251205_160443.jpg.9dd3ade66e56e406288bf4a72a45aaa8.jpg

But I took a rather cold and damp spin through the market, just for jolly.

IMG_20251128_1008482.jpg.175456f4a001a01dd651ec03bee173bd.jpg

Tat Stall actually had some tat, for a change!

Not a wild amount, though.

IMG_20251128_1010312.jpg.3981dc8c361e7afc26f3421125174177.jpg

Mostly railway scale stuff - EFE, Oxford and Atlas.

IMG_20251128_1010082.jpg.ec328545526253ab20667217244bc98f.jpg

Some Corgi Trackside and a smattering of MoYs and Matchbox Dinky too - in fairness, not terrible value at a fiver.

IMG_20251128_1010002.jpg.9d295d278066081223af5583f2f76247.jpg

Reproduction Hornby Dublo models were a new one on me.

Vitesse DS on inflatable balls (per a contemporary promotional photo) is one I recall from my model shop days - no bugger wanted them then either, and I think we struggled to get shot of them at a fiver back in 1996 or so.

IMG_20251128_1010372.jpg.5d9cb56e19746f7feb0768e63fe45943.jpg

Big Bburago bus was also one unfamiliar to me.

IMG_20251128_1009012.jpg.19871fd876b65632021f5009e137e76e.jpg

Weird Code 3 Corgi Classics Leyland Tiger Cub in 1/50 scale - redone as a burger van, for some reason?

Good to see, but nothing to really tickle me today.

A stroll across to the Irish Tat Stall revealed a Vanguards XR2i in white, which did generate a lot of WANT in me but at £37 it was staying on the shelf today.

IMG_20251128_1012572.jpg.d49fc05018468ce66159a85094b8b8b1.jpg

Colin on the stall had a few Tamiya plastic kits, unexpectedly.

IMG_20251128_1013212.jpg.a14f454e0dd420d67e3b33ce550ac0cb.jpg

And the Norev Torino and Charger were quite appealing too...

IMG_20251128_1014162.jpg.fc30445e0a201311a21dc087f80537d9.jpg

They kinda looked a little smaller than 1/43 scale though. Or maybe it was just my tired eyes.

IMG_20251128_101452.jpg.0a6e0df5b542a3c9d9521e0ccba8f42d.jpg

Some Hot Wheels Premium twin packs were nice, but not for me either.

He says he'll order up some more Matchbox Collectors series cars too - they're selling well for him, but he's very little left.

Some of the other antiques stalls are still knocking out stray diecast here and there.

Oh, hullo...

IMG_20251128_1008132.jpg.71c7d50b542c869bc264fb5f05e3d962.jpg

Ah. Goodbye.

IMG_20251128_1008192.jpg.fa696fbd39c52c366d6117b7d25dbf47.jpg

Alan had a little more out on his 50p Tat Tray, though...

IMG_20251128_1015482.jpg.7ec89358631ed078df8304550e3e1152.jpg

Actually quite a few recent Hot Wheels amongst the dross.

IMG_20251128_1017382.jpg.798e62d4d18620946f1ce152b45b6066.jpg

But I either had them already, or they were a bit too far gone for my liking.

So in the end I settled for a coffee and a cinnamon bun to give my morning a bit of a zing

IMG_20251128_1025292.jpg.797e4cb7d27ae18f02ffcb0b12ca3d29.jpg

PRO TIP: don't let them put your frosted bun in a plastic bag, or else you'll end up with a baldy bun and a frosted bag.

And you don't want that.

Happy Friday, kids!

Also: Cash Converters need to make a concerted effort to get their staff off the crack pipe:

IMG_20251203_1632002.jpg.2dbc8448738537740f9936710e7aaff8.jpg

£12 for a Bburago you can still buy off the shelf in Home Bargains for something like £4?

Yeah, nah.

IMG_20251203_1632212.jpg.9266b16977b0fc5d01869a2aaa42af6b.jpg

These Matchbox are still on sale, some six months after I first clocked them in May. Escort Cabrio is good, though pity the Golf's box is torn.

At £19 a go, I daresay they'll be here a while yet.

It wouldn't be quite so insulting if they didn't still have the £5 price sticker from the model shop in Smithfield stuck on the bottom...

Oh, and a tat box from @155V6 also landed earlier in the week - just got to open it today.

IMG_20251205_1624522.jpg.90a5697bda8e27db94ffb71680dfffed.jpg

Dunno why I didn't pick up the Ryu Asada memorial Subaru SVX when it was current; but good to finally have it.

I owned the Hot Wheels K.I.T.T. before (along with a number of other Screen Time releases, like the Back To The Future DMC-10, Scooby Doo Mystery Machine, and Homer's car from The Simpsons) but foolishly sold them all. So, great to have this one again!

The Matchbox '55 Cadillac Fleetwood is a lovely casting, and not one I've owned previously.

Fantastic, thanks so much!

I've got several boxes (the 72 car Hot Wheels ones funny enough) full of donor cars and project cars, as well as various tubs full of wheels, glass, engines etc etc. 98% I'll probably never use but now and again I find just what I need. Got an unusual interior colour Draguar here that needs an engine, worked out today it's the same one use in the Speed Kings Cougar/Charger, so I've got spares

Some more diecast oddities and weirdos have come my way today, I was on Vinted the other morning and someone had listed a load of interesting stuff. What do you think is in here?

I'll come back to that. First off all, one of the weirdest Matchbox vehicles you're likely to come across, a Zoomie Balloonie Mean Motha, and the first entirely complete one I've found. Looking forward to terrorising the cat with this one later

Today I was able to collect my box from @155V6!  I don't know when it actually landed at my Parcel Depot but now it's in the boot of the Omega.

And more excitingly, a few more of those Tomica Premiums:

They really are very nice things for £10 or so each (one or two were a bit more).

All have some form of opening feature, bespoke wheels and working suspension.

Even pop-up lights on some of them, operated by a little lever underneath.

Those Tomicas look really nice, I had to look them up to check the scale and if they'd been 1/43 I'd definitely be buying the Supra!

They are very nice, and coming just in an old Superfast-style box they're easy to store and/or display.

Narrow Superfasts certainly, as fitted to various things of the era. although there are a surprising number of different diameters etc to be found when you're after the correct ones for a project!

I was thinking the same. I don’t do small scale ones though unfortunately.

Really lovely models though @Spottedlaurel 👍
The only Tomica I’ve had that I can remember was a Mercedes, which was an older one, but it was a mile ahead of most of its competitors in the small scale(s). Really well made, great detail etc.

37 being Paddy Hopkirk's number, 7 was the next choice. Both "good" numbers for me anyway.

This one's had a long hard journey, I bought this at the end of September off Vinted, and it never arrived. For some reason it went back to the seller, eventually getting there on the 11th of November, at which point it was already broken. She re-sold it to me for a pound on the 15th, and it finally got to me today! The reason for the breakage is clear, just a jiffy bag

A small local toy fair today which can be a bit hit or miss. Today it was a hit for me.

Seller number 1

Amazing to see a Gama Calibra again for a good price, hopefully I can use this one as a template for some windows on the one I got last time. 1/36 Corgi Rolls £8, Saico, Type R £5, Norev Pug 309 £6, Gama Vauxhall £8, Gama M1 £6. He let me have the lot for £27.

Scrap Corgi Buick and Citroen £3 for the two.

A year or so ago I bought a Dinky Austin Westminster from this seller and he had some more today for cheap (£2 each) so I got two, both different colours from the one I have already and added in the Dinky Cunningham for another £1.

While I was chatting to the seller, the chap next to him joined in and I asked about a few of his and bought a Saico Impreza £3 Previa £1, Corgi 205 in interesting package and plain white £2 and a tiny V70 for £1. I was about to pay when he offered the Corgi 1/36 Mercedes to make it up to £10, yes please!

A book to make me want lots oif stuff I can't get £10

Then I went back to the seller with the Westminsters and looked at two I usually wouldn't be interested in, but when he said £20 for the pair I looked properly and decided they were actually very nice. I remember as a kid turning over the page with the Corgi Classics in my catalogue really quickly, but offered £15 for them and here we are!

Not sure why I'm so pleased with them really

I wasn't really  in the mood to go chasing diecast while shopping this weekend. What I did see was nothing new, more Matchbox in Tescotainer but still no Celica. Bloody annoying as that was the one that I really wanted out of that case. Problem is, so does everyone else seemingly, cant even get one cheaply on AliExpress. Didnt even waste my time and fuel traipsing over to Smyths either.

I did have a mail call though. Probably have to be the last diecast purchase until Christmas as I've got a couple of items put away.

Yeah, I'm not expecting this to be everyone's cuppa, to be honest it's a bit modern for even my tastes, but it's still a Merc in miniature, and I do love a nice dealer packaged model. And the packaging on this is quite special.

So its a model of the facelift W213 E Class. (I actually had to look up the model code. My interest in Mercs kind of wanes after the early 2000s... 😆). Merc dealer models have traditionally tended to be from either Minichamps or Herpa, this one though is by iScale. The only other model I have by them is an Opel Astra OPC coupé and it is a fantastic wee thing, so I had high hopes for this one.

It didn't disappoint, it's actually a very well detailed model. It's the AMG-line version so has big blingy alloys and extra body bits, along with the sports grille, which is captured very well.

Front and rear detailing are to the usual premium standard, at least as good as Minichamps.

Hard to capture, but interior detail is also high, including the LED clocks and multimedia display,

With an eBay voucher code, it came out at about £12 plus postage, which I don't think is bad for a premium quality 1/43 dealer model. I hate to think how much these were going for in the posh glass cabinets, in the MB showrooms!

Cor, that Norev 306+3 is lush.

(everything else you picked up is pretty handsome, but the 306 is glorious)

My mind is still full of 306 ever since parting with ours. I'm driving a 306 to work tomorrow (its actually an electric Vauxhall Grandland)
