Cheers guys 😀

Thing is I saw it, found out the price & nabbed it. I saw there was something rattling about inside but hadn't twigged it might be the little patient & just bunged it in my bag, so was very pleased when I got home.

I don’t think I’ve ever had one of those with the patient and blanket still with it. Nice find.

I've got a nice late version with just the blanket

Matchbox Speed Kings K-26 Mercedes-Benz "Binz" Ambulance

A tattier early one with patient

Matchbox King Size K-6 Mercedes-Benz "Binz" Ambulance

And a Superfast with patient

Matchbox Superfast 3a Mercedes Benz "Binz" Ambulance

(and many others in various states!)

I’ll be honest. I didn’t even realise they came with a patient or a blanket until I saw @ETCHY one! I have got a Dinky Cadillac ambulance with the figure and stretcher.

I've never seen one with so much paint never mind the patient, great find @ETCHY!

As it's all quiet on here this evening I'll share another find from last week I'd kind of forgotten about, it is totally fucked mind you!

It's a FIAT from the 70s/80s

I love the Mira and Mercury examples! Thats right up my stradale.

The rally version looks very similar to a Solido model.

I’ve never liked that Dinky Caddy either. It looks terrible! The top half is completely out of proportion to the bottom half.
In a way it sort of looks like one of those futuristic bubble top concept cars from the 50’s!

@Datsuncog remember this market find? A little bit of work and it's gone into the fleet with plenty of other Bill Day scratchbuilds for company.

OK here are some of today's treasures

If anyone fancies this Matchbox Major Pack Guy Warrior transporter it was £2 - needs work but at least has all its grey tyres

I don't really "do" commercial stuff, so I sell on any Convoy bits I end up with - so of course I don't have the right tractor unit for this (I like Pepsi branded items)

Did my mini shitters duty today to a young lad and his mum in Poundland, by suggesting the other green golf GTI on the peg he’d not spotted would be an ideal “dad” surprise! I wonder what his dad will say 😎

Its a sweet little thing though once released from captivity, even if the grill is a bit proud (Citi golf/mark 2 style) an printing of the wheel arches is a bit haphazard!

Its also much darker in the flesh, closer to olive that bright green.

Ah good stuff yeah it's a very nice casting.
I do have the late model one somewhere too, in the box (albeit a tatty box). I've had it since I was a kid. My dad bought it me when he won on the Grand National Sweepstake when he was working at Leyland Motors. It was the year the horse Aldaniti won (1980 I think ?)

And a Prowler

PXL_20240421_124835339.jpg.41a3a29a58ed86ebbf4cc3b6f48f8b52.jpg

I've had a Prowler out of its box today, a Universal Hobbies Eagle's Race 1/43rd.

The colour is a bit pale compared to the real thing, but then Universal Hobbies are a budget collectible.

The detail isn't too bad

but roof fit is poor.

I like a Mirafiori

My first 1:1 car was a ‘76/R Fiat Mirafiori

It was a 1300 L and went very well - it used to annoy the Escort crowd, due mainly to its gearing rather than my driving ability

I should have kept that 2-door shell, put it into storage, as it still had (most of) its factory sills.  But when you are 19 you don’t think about funding retirement…

Got a Polistil 1:43 in the same colour to remind myself of the thing.  Here it is out to play with a Panorama

A bit of SIM II news to report today:

IMG_0217resize.jpg.bfec64bd787ad296c8477c938733ce3f.jpg

Sold 3-4 unbuilt kits. I take a few built ones along as a talking point, and to show buyers what can be done with them. This is the Mk1 version of the stall, which then had to be rearranged behind the shelter of the car due to the wind lifting lids off the boxes and redistributing contents....

IMG_0401.JPG.9869520001d975a0989aba2322e104d1.JPG

Put a little bit of the proceeds back into these - left and middle rows from other sellers at the show, two on the right from shops.

The Sunny Truck was one I was particularly keen after I saw it there on a stand last year, because it reminds me of this kit I built with similar wheels and colour:

Managed to get two 1/24 builds off the bench this weekend, spurred on by wanting to get them on display at the show.

Number 1 was a quick, simpe refurb of a Tamiya 280ZX I bought already built, ostensibly to strip and rebuild but it was tidy enough just to work with what was there:

IMG_0137.JPG.7494df1007b128a6ab5219c9cabbd8e5.JPG

As bought, with brush-painted enamel paintwork and some loose components, but mercifully no glue on the glass.

Wheels and tyres swapped from another version of the 280ZX kit, missing rear light found inside the body and lenses  painted with clear red and orange, bumpers reattached, mirrors replaced/refitted, body washed and resin polished, and perhaps most satisfyingly was adding foil to the window trims. I left the interior and driver as it was. It came with the little motor as was common in Japanese kits of the time, and I couldn't resist popping a couple of AA batteries to see how it went across the garage floor - pretty fast!

Not immaculate, but better it sitting as a complete model on the shelf rather than in a box as a 'pending' project. And I have a boxed, unstarted kit when I want to do one 'properly'.

Number 2, a Fujimi issue of the Nissan Fairlady ZG (Datsun 240Z with aero nose):

IMG_9304.JPG.f564ba7f19eec72ecb4869be23b12135.JPG

What I started with. There is an engine, but as there's minimal underbonnet detail then I've kept that for another Datsun project.

IMG_0467.JPG.6537d874b67fcd8fbb5c2cfad2b97414.JPG

Went for a distinctly non-stock colour - Tamiya Lavender with pearl clear and then gloss clear. Arches, bumpers and spoilers were painted dark metallic grey.

IMG_0476.JPG.9f202d1c51c8768db3dcc06e67fd7185.JPG

Wheels by Aoshima, tyres from yet another kit. Window trims finished with foil, and wipers and some other brightwork done using Gundam chrome marker.

IMG_9780.JPG.6427c43326d813e11390602d3e3a9689.JPG

Interior painted metallic salmon pink (!), with a bit of light grey and felt carpet to give it a bit of texture.

A couple of quick outdoor shots that still don't really do the pearl finish justice - it's subtle but works well, slightly different to a metallic/mica finish.

@SpottedlaurelThey look great!

What's this pearl clear?

Thanks! Basically another Tamiya paint, a gloss clearcoat with a pearl finish. Gave a rich sparkle to the solid paint. I then added gloss clear over that as I didn't want to rub through the pearl when I gave it a polish.

Check out Paint Factory pearl aerosols, I use them and the effect is mad.

I bought them in QDs but I see them in various cheap hardware stalls, market etc

Use very sparingly! This was pink over black

Went a bit nuts on this one for a metalflake effect

I put the tiniest dusting of pearl over this red just to liven it up a bit

I'm going to roffle the duplicates of my large diecast collection (spent far too much this year lol) if anyone wants to have a go (posted in the for sale car boot section).

I might* have a spare indicator for the e-type. I’ll have to check.

Miniature shite has been a bit barren around my neck of the woods. Apart from 1 singular 2nd hand diecast purchase, last weekend saw the first splurge from from me for 2024, after '23 ended on a high with my AS bulk purchases arriving all at once!

Partly, there's been a bit of shite apathy on my part, due to life stuff and the glut of arrivals late last year as mentioned - but most importantly, my phone broke a few months ago and I 'upgraded' it to a newer, better model, which takes terrible, terrible photos. That's proper knocked my mojo in documenting anything.

But document I must, now I bought some stuff, from an annual car swapmeet.

First up, a couple of Yatmings and a PlayArt quattro:

Screenshot_20240415_114835_Gallery.jpg.be5811e3771b85b0d641d90d16f57c35.jpg

Actually, it's an Audi Coupe, as shown by the script on the rear. But you'll have to take my word for it, as my brand new phone is so shockingly bad.

Then I grabbed this Greyhound bus as a cheapie:

Screenshot_20240415_115047_Gallery.jpg.0ac0af49405706589e2a01af4732efa3.jpg

Been out in the sun too long, as the glass and interior are all warped an melted.

Screenshot_20240415_115946_Gallery.jpg.510c4a591fa6a8a83c872961f405edf3.jpg

But I've never seen the removable Superfast axle cover in red before - nor a double axle cover either, for that matter. Or even a Superfast Greyhound bus! Though I'm sure none of the above is that uncommon.

Also from the same seller was this sorry Siku:

Screenshot_20240415_115937_Gallery.jpg.52651d5c340828f023753124cd4d3ce6.jpg

Missing the roof and rear door, but I have a complete one in the UK. I've defo got one or two trailers with missing hitch locks, so this'll help fix one of them at least.

Screenshot_20240415_115336_Gallery.jpg.bbd31fb8845886f9e22e8b0bfb192b6a.jpg

One seller had a few boxed Matchbox at $4 each, or 2 for $6 (roughly £3), so I nabbed these two.

Screenshot_20240415_115332_Gallery.jpg.ea11900650855ed921227c6f3a44761c.jpg

The grey 760 was one of the earliest new Matchbox toys I can remember owning, although I know I owned earlier versions. I can live with an unopened but stuffed box at this pricepoint.

Screenshot_20240415_115207_Gallery.jpg.0b193a08182827e3e9856512d54cd475.jpg

The Astra was a slightly educated gamble (of a whole £1.50), as the box made me think this was really quite a late issue for this casting. And if a cursory glance at Ebay for Hertfordshire Constabulary versions go for, this more than bankrolled my day out!

Screenshot_20240415_114709_Gallery.jpg.a91b59450a65ca8be015c27a5e43435b.jpg

Picked up this E-Type from a guy selling a load of Jag 1/43s, though this was by far the oldest, so of most interest to me.

Screenshot_20240415_114822_Gallery.jpg.a7bbbd3fddd47b6b7f06aebdc346aa93.jpg

I'm a sucker for this era of Dinky, especially if it's not painted metallic red! That's a lovely shade, but this purple which I think was also used on the Capri is a lovely period hue. And the gold base just sets it off!

Screenshot_20240415_114812_Gallery.jpg.550a690792f53fa903bfdef5f9da1681.jpg

Baby blue interior is a perfect colour match to the exterior shades, don't you think? Note the driver's seat back, which looks like it's spent all its 50+years wedged beneath the dash and steering wheel. If I'm not mistaken, this has all its parts present, although I'm not sure why there's 2 holes in the bulkhead  when there's windscreen wipers cast into the 'screen.

That's as far as I dared open the rear door, however:

Screenshot_20240415_114751_Gallery.jpg.ffafbe5289110c2869e8dc0d6d167a07.jpg

Finally, I bought this hefty lump:

Screenshot_20240415_224458_Gallery.jpg.5097a64fb1361f6aca59cee7ac8b2866.jpg

Perusing the model art on the back of the box reveals that I have a worrying number of these castings, or variants of...

Screenshot_20240415_115349_Gallery.jpg.dff6ecf1553374e002472e97ded2e9cf.jpg

It's at this point that I must remind readers that I don't collect fire stuff. But if it's made by Siku, there seems to be an exception. Which explains why I now have an alarming amount of 70's Siku fire vehicles.

Initially, the sheer weight of this thing and its modular construction led me to believe it'd be laden with features - but in actual fact, you're looking at them all. 4/10, buyer's remorse kicked in, yo.

And actually, once I'd bought it, I'd remembered that I'd shunned it the year before from the same seller, though I did pick up a couple of other gems from him back then.

But it's OK, as although he was firm on his price, I managed to get this wee box of nostalgia thrown in, as a veiled gift for my wife, who loves Lego:

Screenshot_20240415_114648_Gallery.jpg.75d1601a8930be8518a0c6cc9c2221d3.jpg

But I didn't check the contents first....

Screenshot_20240415_114617_Gallery.jpg.4fcec7da426b7ab2386938ed8af50ade.jpg

Honestly, the old guy stiffed me, wittingly or not. This is one of the sorriest excuses for a toy-shaped-object ever. The flipping wheels don't even spin on their axles.

Look at the driver mocking me.
