Had a bit of a strange diecast experience myself, I'm on a mission but the Mrs popped into Entertainer. They had a new case but it was the F from 2023. While she was on the phone to me asking if I wanted the red RS2000, someone leaned over her and nabbed it, staff were going to go and ask for it back but then saw the couple hide it in the hood of their pushchair - so are being watched for when they try and leave without paying.

Hopefully they'll get banned from the shop and be one less competitor

Lots of stock in Poundland and Poundstretcher in Burton on Trent.

Shame I've been sent here a week early though

How strange !

I'm on the lookout for one of those. When I last saw ine, Payday was too far away to justify it!

@Datsuncog was this in the £5 or £10 box? If the former can you grab it for me please?

Expand

It was in the £5 box - though I dunno if he was looking a fiver or a tenner on it, as it's nominally a two-piece item. He's pulled that on me before, where an articulated item is charged as two separate items - vaguely annoying from a 50p box, but potentially ruinous from a £5 box.

However - if it's still there next week, I'll ask and I'll nab it for you if it's not too pricey!

Unfortunately I had to scoot on at 9.30 so I could get home and get logged on - since the New Year, my place of work is now shut on Fridays, and staff have to work from home. Which ain't great for market exploits...

How incredibly frustrating! But your right not to get suckered into overpaying, which it most definitely was.

Mr Nemesis must have spent some coin though!

Expand

He must indeed... I'm not quite sure how he manages to do it week on week. From earwigging, it seems that weekly hauls in the region of £70 to £100 are not uncommon...

On 26/01/2024 at 10:41, sierraman said:

Does the Nemesis flog them on through EBay do you reckon or does he just collect?

Expand

He says he just collects them for himself, though I have my suspicions.

Possibly he buys some speculatively for other collectors but if it turns out they're not so keen, he tries to re-home them another way; or he finds a better version of one he already has and then punts the lesser one on. He's passed various bits and bobs on to me (sometimes free).

I think searching local eBay sellers hasn't brought up any hits for the stuff I've seen him take, but maybe he trades through closed Facebook groups?

He is a big fan of Budgie stuff, it's something he's mentioned numerous times. So we can draw some comfort that the Foden Pluto tanker will probably be cherished...

Time to finish the Record R5

Spot lights painted, and one fitted.

DSCF1957.thumb.JPG.ca013bcd511d332a18486bf29a0c27d8.JPG

All on.

DSCF1958.thumb.JPG.d3508c758a9af04f072544bbb0c40953.JPG

Decals next.

DSCF1959.thumb.JPG.378a5ba96c313110020ec819d0712942.JPG

All done including the door mirrors and some other touch ups.

DSCF1967.thumb.JPG.d66935a6a46bca18a8f0769b7f1ad5eb.JPG

I even took the trouble to angle the lower spot lights like the actual car. Unfortunately the lights are all the same size, unlike the original that has a pair of Super Oscars and a pair of Oscars.

Untitled.jpg.9df3a6d2e4dcc870abb13c4e5a614663.jpg

I might do some more careful white touches on the edges of the lamps later as they look a bit wobbly in the pictures.

At the rear I have done the pillar vents with matte black.

This one was a bit of a pain, but I am happy with the result.

Hopefully the next transfer project will go better. Time for another Lancia.

I quite often see the packaging in shops with the cars missing. Must be to keep the little rug rats quiet after they've finished their sausage roll?

I wouldn't spend much on that Corgi set.

Vectis usually just put them in lot with other over produced Corgi sets that no body wants anymore

I've had a mental week working after nothing at all since before Christmas.

I was in Street again Tuesday to Thursday so I popped into Jadlam Toys and Models. The last time I was there in July they said they'd be getting a bigger range of Hot Wheels but it hasn't materialised

I've just been to the Co-op, from where I grabbed this from the hanging strip thing on impulse, because dem '80s Matchbox colours and because SVX.

17004f2da8fa5b7d16a28f8b61e54df9.jpg

No price visible, but I thought "it'll just be typical variable Matchbox / Hot Wheels pricing, and yesterday was payday".

Got reamed for £3.

Still, my environmentalist wife opines that "things like that should be AT LEAST £3". So that's okay.

It's nice, anyway.

It Lancia time again.

Another of those old Vitesse models from the late 1980s. This one is a Jolly Club ToTip 037 that was driven to victory by Miki Biasion and Tiziano Siviero on the 1983 Rallye Costa Smeralda.

The decal sheet included two white decals to cover the air intakes, but getting the decals first to stick to the plastic and then bend round it, was just a step to far. Instead I broke out the Humbrol 22 and painted them instead.

All I have to do now is let that lot dry off and I can get on with all the little decals.

PS no cracking with these decals so far.

Stuck a set of Tinnylite wheels on the replica of my dad's 2.0S, which are a bit more realistic than the Hot Wheels steels it has before.

Wasn't brave enough to try and paint all the black bits in

We're on a page numbered for my birthday, so I really should make a contribution, shouldn't I?  Fortunately, there has been some outdoor work happening today.  Several models have tasted cosmic soda for the first time...

Others have met the P38...

Some have been primed...

There has been other, indoor, work recently too but I'm not ready to show that until my Steve Flowers order arrives (which I haven't ordered yet).

That bin lid is my spray booth!  :)  At least I can always find my bin on a Thursday.  (it does also have a big number 8 on it...)  The red recycling bin is similarly adorned.

Laugh for the bin lid not for fabulous work as it is!

Anyway spurred on by the gauntlet being thrown down and challenge made, test of mettle etc etc. by @danthecapriman & @eddyramrod showing their projects in progress, I'll deviate from only showing completed Fake Corgis for a change.

I had a bit of a spray session with red paint the other day, three of them (Corgi T-Bird, Corgi E Type & Dinky Ferrari I decided to try painting without taking them apart which involved a lot of masking in several sessions, which meant I forgot to mask the headlights on the Jag (Doh!).

The Chipperfields Corgi Land Rover had the chimp attached with a huge glue bomb

This is the aquatic Land Rover found by @155V6

and here are the clown and chimp

20230715_191523.jpg

I've managed to get most of the glue off, stuck the chimps foot back on, grafted on new loudspeakes I picked up from a toy fair for £1 and painted blue with Mrs Concern's acrylic paints and now need to make a new hat for the clown to hold aloft.

The marathon masking session turned out ok, I scraped the paint off the Jag lights and tooth pasted them back to life ok. Some of the white paint came off the lower half of the Dino when I removed the masking tape, now touched in and the seats on the T-Bird touched up using Mrs Concern's acrylics again. Quite a good match using Ochre witha touch of white.

These two Corgis have swapped bases as I'm making a Golden Jacks Firebird and a Whizzwheels Camaro. While researching for these, I found this on a site I first saw linked by @flat4alfa

http://corgitoys.free.fr/English/CORGI_343_Pontiac_Firebird_Take-Off.htm

and this chap as well as swapping the base cut out the name and grafted it in

GJfirebird.thumb.jpg.e9a4960d46bb60251fffe24a382589bb.jpg

So obviously I had to do that as well, but being a cheap skate I wanted to keep both cars (I believe the author scrapped one). I'm not sure if I will remove the boot spoiler on the Firebird as I really like the look of it. Really I know I should as I want it to look as it does in the Corgi Catalogue.

You may remember I made a Whizzwheels Corgi C3 Lazybones, but the decals couldn't be seen due to the paint being too dark? OK maybe not! Well I've repainted it in a decal freindly colour and just needs to be assembled. Also painted the correct Jensen door yellow.

Lastly i have referred to Mrs Concern working on a Corgi Tram to replicate the one in Meet Me In St Loius

She (and I) thought she'd just be painting a model tram and making a little Judy Garland to sit in it. Unfortunately Vincent Minelli had the props Dept make a mock up trolley that couldn't possibly work as it has the driver at one end only and two spiral staircases at the other! Consequentley Mrs Concern has scratch built two stair cases and numerous other parts at least twice and is still working on it!

I'm now being held up by my unwillingness to concentrate on completing a huge Steve Flowers order!
