The queue at Gateshead toy fair is still like that, loads of old duffers in anoraks waiting for their quarterly fix of excitement.

Must have gone through half a dozen of these no-name Maserati Boras over the years, always white or silver. Yellow version was pretty much just making up the numbers on a 3 for a quid deal but it'll find a home with the others

I don't often get over to boot sales these days, but thought I'd make an exception today as I knew the weathwer was going to be good. Sadly I had an insomnia/drawn-out panic attack night so I didn't fall asleep until about 5am, so left it a bit late to actually set off this morning. I had been a few weeks ago and clocked a house clearance type stall with an enormous PILE of 50p diecast. A cursory look revealed lots of 1960s Huskys and 70s Matchbox in amongst the tat, but I wasn't in the right mood then so didn't pull anything out. Anyway, bloke was back today but the stock was seriously depleted. I pulled these out.

No-name X/19 pulled because the model came up on this thread the other day. Actually quite a decent casting for a cheapy and not in bad condition.

Majorette Safrane is one I don't remember ever seeing 'in period' although it's probably a touch too new. No idea if this one is hard to find or not, but it had survived in such nice shape it seemed a shame to leave it buried with the 10-yr old Hot Wheels and far-eastern no-names.

Anyway, I have no interest in these so if anyone on here wants them please speak up, otherwise they'll be going to a charity shop.

That was the only diecast excitement, but luckily I managed to find a stall selling actually decent records for not much £££. He's gonna bring a box of jazz with him next week just for me, so guess I'll be going back then!

Crikey, I had that Martini liveried Bora too. Never knew who made it as it came in a set of three, all in plain white card boxes with a BMW M1 and a yellow Porsche 928, all with the same wheels, so presumably by the same manufacturer. The M1 had a small lever under the front bumper which raised and lowered the headlights.

Had the usual fruitless search for any new Hot Wheels and Matchbox. Morrisons, 2 x B&M, Tesco, Asda - nil. Interesting developments at Asda though. For the first time, we actually have HW Premiums, though not a collection I was hoping for...

Someone who works in the toy department must love the Crass & Spurious as they have other cars from the series in different scales,

IMG_20230819_181736.thumb.jpg.30193794af791e1a5181efcb3c99bb42.jpg

That 1/43 Civic was actually quite nice, as was the blue Porsche behind, but they were twin packs.

TBH I was kind of torn between the blue '69 Camaro and this, but I can't resist a Plymouth GTX, one of my favourite American cars of that era.

Only 5 in this series, but at £9 a throw, I'm not sure if I'll be aiming to complete it. The Camaro and Land Cruiser are nice though.

Had a quick look in Smyth's today, but as is typical for the one near us, there were plenty of Premiums, but not the sought after ones. They did though have one solitary F&F Alfa Sprint GTA. I was tempted, heavily, but I was good and walked away.

(So I'll probably end up going there during the week...)

So much nicer!

Smyths was no good this morning. Did get some odds and ends at B&M however, plus bits and bobs at a 1:1 meet that I haven't seen in the local shops:

I think the little Honda is a duplicate, should have chosen a different colour. Maybe it could be a project/wheel donor.

Had seen the Laurel on the chap's stall on several occasions, finally went for it. He still has a nice orange Datsun 1200 Truck in the same range which would nicely match the 1/24 kit I built. Hopefully it'll still be there next month....

Went to boot fair today for the first time in ages, but didn't pick up much (Mrs Concern got a load of bargains!). Having seen a few probably reasonable price old Corgi & Dinky toys that I liked, but didn't know what they where worth and anyway would rather pay less, I was getting desperate when I found a Dinky Range Rover for £5 not that cheap and the chap wasn't taking offers (it had a label saying £8 on it!) so had it. I'll just add here for @eddyramrod that prices in SE England are much higher than up North! Almost finished when I spotted a Majorette Arcadiane for 50p so even though I don't want it and don't collect small scale...

IMG_7344.thumb.JPG.13caa0fadcaca49a815b99868423f6e3.JPG

Both of them have rear doors

IMG_7345.thumb.JPG.11f756d9ced0bccb36c590fd9ca4d890.JPG

that work and both look better for a wash

IMG_7350.thumb.JPG.99b8fdc0f3bd9c48d2ccc156b609fc86.JPG

We went on to Lewes after that and saw a few junk shop finds that I toyed with buying. The one I came closest to buying was an 80s Corgi Ford tilt cab truck tractor unit for £6. I did hum and harr over it as I have several suitable trailers, but in the end as the windscreen was slightly cracked I passed on it.

Obviously once home a Land Rover themed session ensued, Corgi V Dinky. I already like the Dinky opening everything and quarterlights in the doors

IMG_7351.thumb.JPG.ea9e455ea8865ac89729638725689b1d.JPG

A difficult one here as I prefer the civilian RR to Police, but think the black grill and painted siler headlamps look better

IMG_7352.thumb.JPG.97aae2f6c5ac668285f50fbc3a51c99d.JPG

Dinky tailgate better for having the Range Rover lettering and also the frame on the top part of the Corgi is clumsy

IMG_7353.thumb.JPG.e5dd90c70b26628cfb8561c8ffb8fc04.JPG

Very similar in size & Dinky LR is also close as is the Spot On, while the Corgi is dwarfed

IMG_7354.thumb.JPG.8f2e5409f93fb02d94cbf135483822a1.JPG

Overall I think I'd like the Corgi RR a whole lot more if it was plain clothes so the Dinky wins for me...

I like these Corgi Firebirds and have several, I'm currently trying to combine two to give me a later teledial whizzwheel version in good condition for my Tri Deck Transporter as this one actually has red spot wheels, I've stuck a print of the correct wheels onto it haha!

You did really well to get that for£1.50 and I can tell you from experience that the Steve Flowers repro windscreen is very good as well as reasonably priced.

Those late Dinky Range Rovers are the ones to have in my opinion. Lovely and heavy and packed with features. I got mine in a DanBox - it's great!
