A few weeks ago I spotted a version of the Matchbox VW 1600 TL I didn't know of - 1969 only red Superfast.

Sod's law meant I then spotted another, better one

Shame about that headlight.

it's very strange that they made a red Superfast as there's a regular wheels version in the later purple colour too

Todays random diecast post is from Abrex, purveyors of fine Skoda models in 1/43rd scale.

Originally they started out with doing the current range of Skoda cars, like the Fabia

Superb

They've done a collection of cop cars

They still do current models plus most of the Skoda back catalogue

Abrex also made Skodas in 1/72 and I believe had some connection with Hongwell/Cararama. I have a few of them (classic and modern) and they're excellent little models. The brown Estelle taxi is my favourite because why wouldn't it be?

It's been a while since I did a catalogue scan - I still have a few that are a bit awkward and don't fit on the scanner properly. This 1981 Guisval effort fits but comes with its own challenges!

Mercy me, Guisval, my favourite. When I visited Menorca in 1993, the Seat 131, Magirus Deutz truck and BMW CSL were still part of the current range and on the carousel in the souvenir shop.

I also didn't realise the made the Renault 12 in both saloon and estate, I have only ever seen the latter.

I don't have very many Guisvals from that era at the moment, just the 12 estate and Seat 131. It's a shame they didn't sell them in the UK as the above looks like a good range of relevant cars, not unlike Majorette.

We were on same continent that year, I went to Ibiza, got the 131, Ritmo, Renault 14 and the Deutz but mine has a stake truck body on the back.

All are playworn originals with lost doors. I think I’d like to keep them for now as it’s heading for the full set (once so get the wrong grille van variation!) and after that I can recover for a bit. Then think about getting rid of the lot

That's tremendous! It's giving me flashbacks of the 80's when you could get little tiny books around that size.... not sure what they were or were they were from?
