Whilst looking for a restaurant to have some food later I spotted an old fashioned model shop. It was a model railways and Scalextric type store. Anyway, there was a couple of £1 tubs in which I found this 1981 model.

Just popped in The Grand Arcade in Southport. A real treasure trove if you’re ever in the area. Just got a pint at Wetherspoons so thought I’d share a few pics. Let me know if you’d like anything picking up… I’m going back for the Dinky Transit soon for myself.

Ooh a first issue Corgi Minor Saloon! I have the first ever issue which is the Panda car with the thick quarterlight and incorrect wing curve but this was the first civilian version. I also have the second civilian release which is Trafalgar blue. All from 1988 when they were, in my opinion, a revelation.

Really happy with this lot. Moskvitch 2141 and a couple of absolutely mint Lotus Elites. The 2141 was also available with Fords Endura-D engine according to Wikipedia.

Never knew they did a Dinky CF minibus?

I don't think they did - I reckon someone's cut rear windows into it.

Some interesting bits up there ^ think I'd have come out a bit skint

I finished the Transporters today

IMG_9084.JPG.a4c83905831e6e8d02e2e69ef00b3ff5.JPG

One of them had a hole in the screen on one side which I replaced with some clear plastic, one of the horn units is from something else I don't remember and the other is two broken horns botched together

Obviously I had to set up a one make load

I went back in the market shop in Newcastle yesterday to see if they had anything different, thought I'd show the woman a pic of the restored Pontiac GP Coupe I bought a few weeks back. Might as well have showed her a picture of a dead slug.

Gave it a light shine up and lacquer. Still wet here.

Bond partwork Sherpa, stripped down.
I’ve filled the damaged parts on the door and bonnet, just waiting for it to dry before sanding it down.

Spanish trucks partwork Commer Walkthru.
I didn’t actually realise the roof on these was a separate plastic part. But when you take them to bits it looks like they’re designed to be adapted into a high roof version too with a different roof moulding clipped on.
The chassis is similar. There’s a separate ladder frame chassis attached to the floor which isn’t really visible on this model, but could maybe be used on a chassis cab version of these trucks.

I love those Commer/Dodge Walkthru vans! Such a good looking model of them. To me, the real ones are an iconic bit of British street furniture of the 60’s and 70’s - loads of them around but almost completely gone now. But still a very cool looking van!

Just risked everything and took the masking off the Commer. It’s only had the green on an hour or so!

Worked a treat! There’s a tiny bit of paint stuck in the little window opening I need to clean out but it just needs to harden off now.

I always pull any masking off when the paint is still wet/soft. In the past I have had dry paint peel off when the masking is removed.

It’s one of those things I never know what to do for the best!
I’ve done it before after leaving it on for weeks and it still worked but that’s probably more down to luck than anything.

Picked this up yesterday from the same model shop I got the American Police car from. Paid a fiver. I’m guessing late 80’s / early 90’s?

Why can they not just produce all those models as stock road cars? The Supra would have been great but I find this version just sterile.

Got some VWs in the post. Overpainted Corgi isn't especially exciting

But this somewhat broken one is, shame about the pillars as I find them especially fiddly to fix

Why the base is stamped inside out I have no idea

Finally, a Maisto Baja in a different colour

Indeed, I thought just the same!

Going by the wheel style (quite the snazzy peened axle effort), I didn't imagine that T2 van to be quite as old as it is! Looks like a great find, @bunglebus.
