Poundland and Morrisons have got in this batch atm if that helps.

Just visiting the lovely town of Bakewell and naturally my first port of call was to Big Top Toys. A small shop but one which yielded a decent amount of diecasts. I couldn't take any pics as it was too crowded. Everything was new apart from a clearance tub containing mainly larger scale Chinese brands all in mint unopened condition. The only 1:64 stuff worth grabbing was this Chad Valley set which of course contains some of Realtoys finest 😉

Toy fair today

I have another Corgi Tri deck which I've decided to pain and stock with the correct cars so picked these up

IMG_2160.JPG.489ccdf9e1c5e4ee741758e4e1e6e963.JPG

The red Capri is hard to find. I already have another Firebird, but this was very cheap and the Teledial wheels are less common than red spots. The seller also had a Whizzwheels orange Lancia for £15 which is a good price, but I now have three of them thanks mainly to this forum!

IMG_2161.JPG.d05570b8d7cdde051b072e0a02680f24.JPG

A quite nice Dinky Moteverdi was hard to turn down even though I have one already so let me know if you'd like it. The Norev Renner 30 is one I didn't have and very nice too!

IMG_2162.JPG.baf56d75118077648bd0be1920079ac7.JPG

Opening everything on the Dinky is great!

IMG_2163.JPG.7ca9b46a79c69d65ff30147e4a985ca5.JPG

Another opening everything Dinky with a wheel broken off, but in the boot! The crap Europa is the forth I've bought to repaint, but the others were all too good to strip!

IMG_2164.JPG.c541b8223a56ad702fedf38640dd07b3.JPG

I have a Joal CX already, but this is nicer.

IMG_2165.JPG.8c95cc354a8e3c892f383998c5308404.JPG

What fantastic looking car the CX is

A couple to paint

IMG_2167.JPG.d0c92467cbab0c2be82d6beb4b30f7b1.JPG

I think I'm addicted to Spot On even though they aren't that good

IMG_2168.JPG.97080f2d257330e329cbdba4e735e19f.JPG

I have my childhood A40 so this is to paint and the Fiat just so cute!

IMG_2169.JPG.169da3ca5e75e5e16fe8546485149155.JPG

Here's everything

IMG_2170.JPG.467eb477ed9599deeda652765eefc027.JPG

My usual Spot On seller had this Lansdowne MG Magnette which weighed a ton and was quite interesting, but I didn't buy.

IMG_2158.JPG.0690c0ade01482efe5b2deca38d9171a.JPG

The chap I bought the Fiat 500 from was showing one of his mates a project he'd been working on

IMG_2156.JPG.f25af6f8fce8df73a9958aa036d7ed71.JPG

3D printed VDP Princess, he'd bought the bare prints and smoothed etc. the shell, made the glazing and finished off the two tone one before noticing the shape of the rear wings was wrong and doing the white one, which is really good

IMG_2154.JPG.2430d9d0678c5720adf81ea02a665868.JPG

He's working on a Cortina Mk2 Estate now and promised to bring it in when finished, another pic of the VDP

Those Lansdownes are great. They have done a lot of old British stuff that the usual suspects have never modelled. That MG Magnette is an early version, worth about £30-£40 boxed.

Here's an early one in the original green and gold box.

Updated version in green. Note that the LDM plate had been changed to a more conventional British type plate and separate chrome trim added to the front wing. This version still has cast in wipers and door handles.

I kept getting outbid on these on eBay so just had to bite the BIN bullet (albeit with an offer accepted).

PXL_20250707_122553874.jpg.810ea2fdb03b90a55ddca367dbc6798b.jpg

Probably the only one I'll ever own.

A curious 'one and done' casting. No other variations exist and it was only for sale in 2004. There is a different card back but that's the only difference.

Wow, I even got one of those. Bought it when it first came out many years ago.

Some of you may remember a I bought a 1/24 Jaguar XJ6 off @Datsuncog a couple of years back. It had a rear missing bumper.

I'd looked for one on eBay for a while but absolutely nothing came up. There was someone who'd broken one up for parts in Italy but even they had no bumpers.

A few days ago, I happened upon a cheap Polistil Jaguar XJ6 complete with box and rear bumper. However, it's front bumper was in pieces and it's general condition wasn't anything to shout about.

I decided to hit the B.I.N button despite being utterly low of ££s.

It arrived today and I decided to get to work:

20250707_203428.jpg.c3789d066e91adc4a9d6caac4521f263.jpg

I removed its rear bumper and attached it to mine:

20250707_203618.jpg.92c90538599acf2e315d22402ed8a7cb.jpg

20250707_203444.jpg.45a5a0cb12c03a39b5e4074ebebc33fc.jpg

My Jag is now complete. I briefly put it back in a box it would have come in when new:

20250707_203558.jpg.6b9f9bb8730b2de52f46a7ccd1f40f16.jpg

But its permanently on display in my front room, now it just looks more complete.

I gave the box a clean and tried to clean whatever stains appeared to be on the polystyrene, I attached the newly-bought and now bumperless Jag to its display after finding some screws and out it back in its box.

I may have a go at restoring it if I can, it now needs a pair of bumpers to reattach to it and a bonnet hinge.

@Tenmil Socket put me onto the trail of this one, a Matchbox Graffic Traffic Dodge Challenger

PXL_20250707_185653589.jpg.b15ef45020f93114025c49fc76275ba0.jpg

PXL_20250707_185658341.jpg.aeacd91d12514adb9e86ba7cf2b3270e.jpg

However I want to try and restore it, as I made a custom out of the last one I found, before I realised the significance of it. It was knackered though. One thing that struck me about this Chinese made example, was how naff the dot-dash wheels look

Smyths this afternoon had new Team Transports, of which this is one

My main target in the job lot was this Welly twin pack of Golf MK4 and Lupo

I missed out on a set the same as this recently as the listing got mentioned in a Facebook Lupo group. Luckily this time it flew under the radar

Checking my Flickr, it seems we already have one, but with different wheels

Here's the golf

Lastly, a couple of big 'uns. Plastic VW T1 is very obviously a copy of the Corgi 490 Breakdown Truck, sadly with the tow rig part broken off and the chrome tools pinched out of the locker

When I saw it, my first thought was Lucky Toys, but this one's unbranded with just "NO 313 MADE IN HONGKONG" on the base. Not even Hong Kong, "HONGKONG".

Having found the Maisto Squareback and Fastback, I had to have the Notchback when it got listed. A few bits have gone walkies as is usually the case

The front opens...

....but despite the engine lid being a separate casting, it does not open - my square has the tailgate fixed closed by means of a plastic trim inside, so I suspect this is similar. Y tho?

Last, and definitely not least, is this quirky tin plate Bedford CA

And absolutely nothing on the base. I can't work out if it was made 50 years or 5 minutes ago
