Shite Ron got a reaction from mercedade in Shite Ron’s fleet
Sorry, just got in, it has been a busy day!
Breakfast stop:
Saw this on the M4 in London
The full reveal:
First impressions are very good, it has quite a lot of service history, 4 owners, the last since 2012, and he replaced this with a Lexus LS400 due to ULEZ.
In 2002 I bought a 1982 Cortina 2.3 Ghia estate in silver and it is the best car I have ever had despite the boring colour. This could be the closest modern equivalent, first impressions are certainly great.
I hope to have a better look at it tomorrow as I am cream crackered now.

This is my first attempt at a collection thread, I got home late last night and sorted insurance on line, then put a battery on the truck, I hope it will start. This thread could be full of disappointment, the vehicle for the outward journey is certainly not exciting, neither is the first breakfast. I am not sure this is worthy of being called breakfast but it is the first thing I will eat after getting up:
It will not be a live collection sorry as I am a Luddite.

The dog, fortunately the count has not increased in the 12 hours we have spent together. The journey time increased significantly due to the M4 being closed near Heathrow.
Can you tell what it is yet?
Taken in a traffic jam on the way home.

Shite Ron reacted to Enri-3000 in One year of knackered rover ownership
Thanks for the kind words everyone, I gave the car a good long drive out today and apart from a small brown trousers moment where I lost all throttle input on the middle of a roundabout the car seemed to be running well. After crawling the car into a position of safety I discovered a bracket that supported the throttle spindle had all but fallen off and needed nipping back up.
I’ve got some time off work so will hopefully get round to sanding some of the body panels and see how I go.
In regards to the wiper delay system I think you can diagnose if the problem is with the delay unit or a split vacuum hose by removing the vacuum hose from the delay unit and putting your finger over the hole. If you press in the little plunger thing and it springs back straight away then the sponge in the top of the unit has probably disintegrated. If it returns very slowly then the vacuum hose is probably split somewhere. Hope this helps!

Big thanks to Panhard65 for transporting this for me.
Now unloaded and waiting for me to start work on it. First time I've seen it outside. I think Panhard65 thinks it's a bit of a turd but doesn't want to be nasty.
Entertaining Mrs SiC friends today, so I need to put these away from kids hurting themselves. Going to live in the garden for a month undercover. If I can get the 1275 in there running, these will be sold on. If I can't, I'll see if I can get any of these in.
For now, I have to earn some more goodwill credits with Mrs SiC.
