I still have my '86 2300, bought from Sharkwells forecourt at sticker price in 1987/88 with just 12,000 miles then and 63,000 now

It starts and drives but hasnt left the garage in a long time.

A relative had one of those poverty spec Metros, no parcel shelf, one door mirror and being B-reg I think it had no rear seat belts (My SD1 doesnt either).
Having bought the Metro NEW in that spec they decided it would be a nice hobby to buy all the bits deleted by poverty spec, from the dealer at dealer prices.

I found the black and white location of Clifton avenue.

Clifton Avehttps://goo.gl/maps/s7nmyNNW57R2 9 course block walls, copings, kerb, house with strange arch detail, national grid in the background. Theres another picture with that yard to the right looking down Clifton, a VW breakers was next door. Funnily enough, the unit that is now built in that yard has a strange shaped vehicle covered in a tarp against the wall. It's hashtagged meadow Lane but it's just off it.

I grew up with pals that lived on ex farms and similar with outbuildings full of shite like that in similar condition. You can spend forever finding stuff and wondering what the place used to be like and how it ended up in that state. There are countless reasons why, not all for the better but most of that rusty old crap is just that. Anything of any worth would have been used somewhere else, converted or sold. Although I no longer spend my free time running around these relics with an air rifle shooting at my pals, I'll never forget that distinct smell of damp metal, rotting wood and fox shit.

Christ! I'm surprised they worked! Not been in use since 1999! Smol dent in bonnet front edge is from pushing an Audi out of the fast lane.

When me and lord_sterling collected his BMW and got a flat because the tyres were fucked we spent a good 40 minutes trying to find it. Then found the hidden compartment in the boot lid and there it was! How we laughed (as we cancelled the AA)

Right folks. Here's the collection story in not too greater detail!
9 am this morning I was picked up by a friend and we headed down to st albans to meet pbk who had the keys. Steed of choice was a red rover 75 cdti tourer. Sadly no pics of that, sorry folks.
After a brief chat with ken I then piloted the rover to Cambridge and we were met with this fine sight
Had a brief chat with boggy mires good lady who had a substantial service history record for us. I fell in love with the CSI and my mate went all gooey over the V8 disco.
A quick chat with BM on the phone then we were off.
Obligatory pez shot. The light wasn't even on yet though but hey deep joy.
After getting stuck on traffic on the bypass my mate was getting bollocked from his Mrs for being later than he said and his ex Mrs for something or another so I told him to put his boot down and go and I'd be ok. I headed up the m1 and was surprised at how the cabin wrapping round felt cost yet spacious at the same time. A great amount of offset on the pedals but between that and the hinged throttle pedal I found it very comfy resting my foot on the arch kick panel. Gearbox feels great and the clutch is fantastic. I've not encountered any clutch judder, backing off of revs or revs dropping either. Finally got home around 430. Mrs wanted to go out so we had a little drive in it.
More spares in the boot than I realised too. Interior is lovely and clean.
I'd just like to say thank you to BM ,I'll try my best to get the car perfect and look after it. It's the best I've had in a long long time. And to pbk for braving central London yesterday. More pics to follow tomorrow after a wash and scrub up!

You've won with that m7. It's been a great car to us. The bits you didn't notice can happen but they are un-noticable to the untrained eye so to speak. I spent 3years of my life at Citroen being paid to find things like that, mainly squeaks and knocks though so I guess I'm quite overly perceptive with things like that.

It one of those cars that needs a good stretch every now and then, it'll thank you for it with decent running. Servicing will keep it on top of it's game, decent oil or it'll sludge the top end up.
It works best with the plugs that it has, it relies quite a lot on good plugs because it'll burn them up. Most serviceable bits have been refitted with copper slip so should come apart fairly easily.
The oil filter housing was well tight and appears to tighten up during use. It can be a fucker to get off and I'd advise putting a towel over the radiator shroud coz when it gives, your wrist slams into the sharp plastic edge, causing PAIN!
This car can bite you too... Drive with your arm on the door to improve that Farmers tan? Your arm will push the lock down and pinch your arm skin! Does it every time, so make sure the lock is down!

The car started life being bought from Park Lane BMW and I don't think it was ever cleaned under the hood until I got it!

I know this car inside out so if you need an answer to a question, give me a shout! I put the Haynes manual in the back of the passenger seat for all your fluids, torques and wiring etc...

    Enjoy it!

Right folks I'm home. Have a few photos will upload later as the wife wanted to go out. Can says it's comfy and decent on fuel for a large ISH car.
