BorniteIdentity reacted to Mr_Bo11ox in eBay tat volume 3.
I’m amazed how worthless those R8 soft tops are. There’s always loads knocking about for like £200 or less. I know they have a chassis made out of 1970’s armchair webbing straps but they are still a neat little package I reckon as long as you don’t mind looking slightly camp and are not in a hurry.

I bloody love Ikea as well; food is good and not expensive - WIFE_CMS swears by the salmon - the furniture is of good quality for what you pay and it's a piece of piss to build even big stuff.
If you've got a big estate or a van the bargain corner can be dangerous. I ended up paying 60 quid for a £255 solid wood bedframe with drawer storage about four years ago because there was a thumbnail sized scratch on the bit you'd attach the headboard to.
That and the food bit does a fucking amazing chicken & potato stirfry thing, plus kilo bags of meatballs. Think the last I was in I spent more on food than on furniture.

There's a brace of lovely coloured 75s on FB Market Place atm. The first one has sold, the others still around. I'm pretty sure I've found mine now (more over Christmas hopefully) but these all look smashing.

Wow dude. You're so counter-culture. Cap doffed.
Looks are, of course, a matter of taste. But the quality is very good for the price - and the things that HAVE failed I've been able to reinforce and fix for buttons. For a family who just want contemporary and functional furniture, it's pretty unbeatable. It is infinitely easier to put together than the old MFI shit and B&Q equivalents too.
Yes, G-Plan is better built. Yes it looks dated. That's fine if it's your thing, but the juxtaposition between a 42" curved smart TV and a 70s sideboard is a bit of a headfuck for most.

Radio Delete - Canadian for base (see: coldwarmotors on Youtube for examples of this)

Just notice BASE is not in the Lexicon. Indulge me?
BASE
= A legendary Ford Sierra that is worthy of its own film.
= A Vehicle of basic specification, having THE trim level fitted by the factory in the lowest specification possible from the list of options. In that there should be nothing from that list applied to the car in question. Possible examples: Cavalier L, Alfasud N, Escort Popular (or not even worthy of a letter or term if available from the factory in that form). The term appears to be more common in US parlance than UK, but gaining ground, yet describes what Autoshite is all about*

One for the Autoshite Lexicon I reckon?
Ok I snucked out of the office and into the lab and got the fob apart. Someone's been in there before and glued it together with Superglue. This is like a life with Renaults
Multimeter says the old Panasonic rechargeable in this is at 3.2V. Did notice obvious dry joint so tapped the iron on that.
Meter also showed all three microswitches are working
Car still starts. Windows still up. All doors all open and close so aren't locked despite the nipples being up. The doors, not mine.
Looked up the sequence to recode the fob. Will look at that later

Hero.
Last year when I ran the Sierra to work in December it was unimaginably cold. It was only my laughing that kept me warm and sane.
This whole situation just proves you right in having a brace of cars ready to go. I’ve had to put the Mercedes onto daily duties for the rest of the year; having it here and a known quantity saved me from buying unknown shite within a 10 mile radius for £300 3nite m7.
You’re doing this all correctly and by the book. Well done!

BorniteIdentity reacted to egg in '93 Mondy thread
So the Fusion has shat its clutch, and the green Mondy has shat its belt, which leaves the grey-primered base as the only working car on the fleet.
Popped on a new Steelie today at the local tyre place, as a treat. It needs to do 150 business miles Bornite-style over the next two days, which will be chilly because of the stuck thermostat.

To be fair to Halfords, I changed a headlight bulb on a Rover 75 once and it took me about two hours and A LOT of swearing. Also some blood.
-
BorniteIdentity reacted to Bobthebeard in The new news 24 thread
Owing to having broken a rib recently and having a blown headlight bulb in the Rover 75 I decided to let Halfords fit a new one. Having done a bulb change before I knew it was fiddly and requires reaching up through an access plate in the wing liner. But doable in a few minutes. Rib said no. Crouching under a wheel arch hurts. Sooooo.
"£8 for fitting mate, will take about 10 minutes " turned into a two hour comedy involving three of the staff, plus eventually the store manager. If anyone is actually interested in the full saga I shall type it out. Long story.

BorniteIdentity reacted to NorfolkNWeigh in Where can you mention AS ?
So this cunt leases a secondhand BMW and had a "celestial experience" WTF?
Do you think he understands what celestial means?
But he was so brave and daring paying a deposit without seeing the year old BMW Approved car from probably the best known BMW dealership in the UK .
Verdict: Grade A Pistonheader

Edit: Can we call it Shite Club?

I wonder if it is time to sack off the Fusion....
Anyway, Green Mondy is in the lock up, the aux belt came off as we pulled up outside the garage and I've never heard a water pump sound so bad, but it is away.
The MOT runs out tomorrow, so RobT really was a bit of legend today in helping me move it.
Battery is dead too, but luckily I had another Mondeo to steal one from

lol, I can see one of us winning this. That wouldn't be a bad thing of course as it's a lovely motor, it would just be funny.
Ah bugger it I'll buy a couple of randoms too please, just to hurry things along of course
