And here it is, the last arrival of 2017:

24421119177_0e88530308_z.jpgMerry Christmas! by Sam Osbon, on Flickr

1.9D in S (base) spec. Manual windows, next to nothing on the dashboard, the wipers look to be off a Panda as they're tiny and barely sweep the windscreen, the exhaust has a hole and the engine is a bit grumpy, but I have a Tempra!

And the seats are comfortable. Dirty, like the whole interior, but thats tomorrows job...

Now that's what I call treating yourself at Christmas!

Tempra with the digital dash is totally on my list.

Remember picking one up at the garage years ago having not seen one before and swearing quite loudly when I first turned the ignition on and found myself looking at what looked more like the instrument panel in a Starfleet shuttle from the 24th century than a 90s Fiat.  I found it a lot easier to follow than the digital dash I'd previously seen in a Toyota actually for all it was more elaborate.

LCD segments are a bit sluggish at -20C though!

Thing drove nice too.  Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever driven an 80s or 90s Fiat that I didn't like.

The Mingebag Mercedes-bodywork and interior tidied, brake pads and tyres replaced, all running well. Just to fit front wing and MOT. £100 purchase, £30 for pads,£60 for four alloys with good tyres. £40 for new pattern wing (that all lines up well)

post-19526-0-95176500-1514293639_thumb.jpg

The AX-nothing on the options list was ticked. Enormous fun in the wet due to terrible tyres. Almost all the laquer has peeled from the roof to make it look a bit more tidy. £200 but no repairs.

Two wheelers now:

KTM RC8.

Mental-just had to strip clutch and shuffle the plates around to stop it grabbing. In the 6 months I have had it, it's increased in value.

Ducati 900SS

First Ducati I have owned in 43 years of (legal) bike riding. Just lovely to ride-not fast but very quick to cover the ground. Needs new rear tyre before spring, but no other money spent. Already worth about a grand more than I paid.post-19526-0-27777800-1514294521_thumb.jpg

And my latest-Aprilia RS250. Will be delivered this week. Two stroke v-twin, so what's not to like? Could sell for 50% more than I paid, but this is a keeper

post-19526-0-84122400-1514295241_thumb.jpg

Should add that the combined cost of the above three was about the same as a new Honda CBR600, so feel I am ahead already.

OUT

The Harley 1200 Sportster. Nearly double the bhp of a standard bike but woth standard brakes and chassis. I've not been so scared of riding a bike before-but this was on another level. I did less than 500 miles on it in a year. No expenditure and made a small profit.

CZ 250

Sold to Jackytwoshoes here-well be delivered on Thursday (so the Aprilia can have it's vacated space). Can't remember what I paid for it, but in true AS tradition, I have lost a bit on the deal. But it will soon be resurrected!

Just the 1985 Honda Vision - which is roadworthy, since I begged an actual bike mechanic to stop laughing at me, take my money and make it work.  £300ish?  Which is probably quite expensive as I've only ridden it about 20 miles.

Until Talbot comes along and reminds me that my Rover is still, technically, a vehicle.  Zero pounds, zero miles, many reminders from my Mum that she'd like to sell her house one day and did I know there's still some brown rust in her garage?

Scirocco. SORNed for the whole year while engine swap has been orchestrated. About 80-90% there now, with just some plumbing to be done. I'll update the thread at some point. Failed to meet my goal of being on the road this year.

Octavia. Dull daily service. To date has cost me 15p/mile petrol and 11p/mile purchase and servicing.

Looking back, it's been a busy year this year... So this is part 1 for now.

Inwards;

The new year brought these two in almost immediately;

This was brought in as a replacement for my Jumbuck, had a short mot and a lot of miles. I had it retested early and put it to use as a daily, it was the 1.9 and was slow.

attachicon.gif20170104_142559.jpg

This came in at the same time with a running fault and around 150k on the clock. I spent a few months on and off trying to rectify it, but wasn't able to find the cure.

attachicon.gif20170104_142640.jpg

This I rescued from scrap when the owner attempted to trade in at a main dealer and was told they didn't want it, it had a replacement spring, a tyre and and an mot and went up for sale within a couple of weeks.

attachicon.gif20170126_133805.jpg

This came from a friend of my folks' who had lost her husband and was now using his car, I paid her what she was asking, replaced the cambelt and water pump and sold it to a lady who very quickly wrote it off.

attachicon.gif20170311_134818.jpg

I'll have to rummage up some more pictures, but there's a V70, S60, 206, Laguna and Mrs Ruff's new berlingo to add.

Another one bought with a slight running fault, brought up to mot standard and given a thorough clean, fault still present when sold. Modern diesels are crap.

attachicon.gif20170710_132257.jpg

Outwards:

Cleaned and preened, fetching £600

attachicon.gif20170330_170121.jpg

Also fetching £600 and ticking over 190k whilst in my ownership:

attachicon.gif20170422_124825.jpg

The second knock was enough to finish Mrs Ruff's Hdi, and so it went to to copart.

attachicon.gif20170516_080926.jpg

£300 came in for the 307 which ended up in northern france.

attachicon.gif20170711_153619.jpg

May, and a chance posting on Facebook saw me heading to Bristol on a whim for this;

After Mrs Ruff's Berlingo got written off, we replaced it with this one, which isn't as good to be honest.

The Volvo now looks like this and awaits the insurance settlement.

The Volvo incident happened about 6 days after I sold the winter hack to Beko; perhaps shite karma for subjecting someone to a Laguna? It was again another car rescued from being scrapped (Sorry Sam!).

This was the solution to the sudden lack of daily transport, and I am indebted to who took me to collect it from Stoke:

post-2711-0-84264800-1514461869_thumb.jpg

I still have the Datsun and the Ax and seem to have done very little with either of them.

The most disappointing footnote is that in spite of the tat account balance looking quite healthy, I have in fact ended the year utterly skint and missing the car I really wanted to keep.

Started the year with the Land Rover and a C15 van that I had bought, from Wilko220 on here

C15 van went, to Holbeck on here, and was replaced with post-3477-0-66004800-1514501346_thumb.jpg

C15 camper, which has also gone leaving me with just the Land Rover

Seen here doing bootsale duty, clearing stuff after my sister's house move.

Despite going back to work at the end of August I have so far resisted the temptation to buy another car for work, I must be ill.

Oi-less of the scabby! Actually its not the Xevo in the background I'm afraid to say-its parked up at work at the moment. I must say your paint job has held up extremely well. I chipped a bit of paint off the bootlid when I backed it into a shelf putting it on the mainstand, otherwise it looks the same as the day I collected it.

Done 10,000 miles on it now, mostly commutting in winter. Best thing ever for weather protection...........don't knock 'em until you've tried one out in shitty weather.
