New members must spend an hour in a dark closet with one of our members.

What will happen? Invacar quiz? carb rebuild in the dark? or something entirely different? wait and see.

I think we need symbols like the Masons. A golden 10mm socket that legend says you can never lose. A holy grail that could be searched for. Much like a normal 10mm socket.

A golden ring with a 10mm nut as the crown.

We could have a little case with spanners in, we take to the meetings.

The spanners would have to be Whitworth. And a code reader that doesn't.

So we'd not be 'on the square' but on the hex?
What about aprons?

The initiation ceremony could be to do a clutch change in the dark and wet, naked except for a hedgehog skin posing pouch and a head torch. The elders stand in two groups wearing ceremonial oily cloaks, chanting alternately "Take it to a garage"and "Just fuckin'scrap it".When the job is completed successfully, the Grand Master drapes a cloak around the initiates shoulders and gives him an ECP mug of tea with black bits in it,from which they've all had a sip.

The secret handshake is just avoiding eye contact

After a very brief glance at one another instantly realising we are both deep in the passion of shite that is* faultless.

The masons are famous for their charitable work, so we should raise funds for distressed nuns and kittens.

Are you joking?

You are clearly not one of us.

If you have to ask, you'll never know. If you know, you only need to ask.

I vaguely remembered it was a 'thing' not long after I joined but couldn't remember the details, but you can Google it.

We've got our own code, and generally we've got each others' backs.

Do we need a special handshake?

I read that as handbrake at first 🤣

I must admit I had to do a bit of digging. It appears several years ago a forum member was trying to trace it saying their dad bought it new, nobody responded to the thread but a couple of years or so later someone else joined the forum also claiming their dad bought it new, the sole reference person 2 had found to it on Google was the original thread. Something like that anyway.
