I use both but the WYSIWYG editor on the site is absolute garbage. So often if you have a emoji, a picture or a quote, you can't delete it or it fucks up and starts mangling text. Tapatalk doesn't have that problem as it allows you to edit in mark up - like IPB used to. 

It also makes it a lot easier copy/pasting posts between forums. Mostly because the dog shit editor on here doesn't make that easy at all. Handy if you cross-post between many places on updates.

What on earth is going on? It's incredibly frustrating to write a long post to then have it fail and disappear when the server goes offline again. 

I think it's been far less stable and reliable recently than in the DaveB47 era. And that's saying something! 🫠

I suspect @Slartibartfast and the other techies are equally, if not more, frustrated as they work to move it to a safer tax haven server. At least it's not going off for as long, now. I'm inclined to commend their efforts rather than complain. Top Tip: before posting, select all and copy, then if it has gone tits down then at least you can paste into something else pro-tem

That's rather rude and condensing! Saying thank you when it's still not working is like telling a mechanic "Thanks for not being able to fix my car yet".

That works if a body of text but this editor doesn't play ball with that when copying quotes, images and emojis. Any content that I write that is long enough to justify copying will almost certainly have a lot of that in it.

These constant failures (site loosing connectivity/Tapatalk/etc) are all very frustrating to those that still care about this forum and want to post content for others that are interested in each others automotive shenanigans. I mention the DaveB47 era as when the site went down, a lot of active and good posters disappeared. I'm not talking those that went elsewhere but those that silently stopped posting and gave up. It's starting to feel a lot like that is happening again. 

I get frustrated as running a web server with PHP/MariaDB/email forwarding system is about as well proven stack as they come. It's the Morris Minor of server complexity. It should not be tricky to have a stable setup and it's confusing why it currently is.

If there is hardware issues on the current box why hasn't there been a move to somewhere else? Copying configs over and changing what is needed doesn't take long. Even quicker and more portable if all setup in Docker instances or similar.

I moan because I both say things as how they are/how I see AND I still care about this forum. I wouldn't have typed all this if I didn't. 

I fear from the silence and non action, that those running it no longer really care. That would be a sad outcome if true.
